Hi Everybody!
Today I have 3 pieces to share with you, my journal page for
Art Journal Journey, post and postage,
and a tag for Tag Tuesday. The journal page is also meant for
Moo Mania and More, in the garden. And a page for TIOT, hot and wild, where we want to see your hot colours or wild animals, or both!
My journal page was made using one of my painted and scanned backgrounds, to which I added some extra colour with Gelatos. The meadow flowers stamp is huge one, I think it was from Lost Coast designs. I don't have a block big enough to use it with, so had to resort to using a tin lid. I then digitlly turned it into a postage stamp, and added some real stamps with the butterfly and flowers. Then I stamped some more bits and bobs onto it.
For TIOT I made a journal page. As usual, you have 2 weeks to join up, and
projects of all formats are welcome:
I used some of my fave things for my tag for Tag Tuesday- cardboard, gesso, and Frantage aged EP in gold and copper. The image is from Gecko Galz. The image was cut to size and mounted on some bronze mirri-card. I used a piece of recycled cardboard box, which I distressed, painted round the edges with gesso and then sprinkled the EP directly onto the wet gesso and heat embossed it. I put it all together, and added a strip of vintage lace and some floral bits and that was it - 20 minutes from start to finish.
I love watching the morning sky - here the sun was struggling through the rather black clouds
My walk led me through the gardens of the Marien Hospital (St Mary's). This statue is behind glass, so you can see the reflections of the hospital buildings, too. It's a shame that so many things have to be locked up these days to prevent theft and vandalism.
Then I went into the Basilica. I took some photos of the beautiful golden shrine and reliquary of St Swidbert, dating back to the middle ages. This, too, has to be well protected, so I couldn't get nearer.
The heron was out fishing this morning. He can stand for ages without moving a feather - sometimes he looks like a statue. I just noticed his eyes moving.
Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Your cloud photo is so beautiful as is your page and tag today!

ReplyDeleteDa könntest Du Recht haben, die Hitze macht mich ganz vergesslich, auch!
DeleteAmazing photographs Valerie-love the heron and statue behind the glass. Well I love all of them really.
ReplyDeleteWonderful craft work on all of your pieces with the amazing colours and images.
This is a real 'wow' post all round with so much to admire.
Have a great day
Love Chrissie xx
Wow- lots of fantastic pieces too. Hard to pick which one I like the best! Very clever with the whole page being the stamp. And beautiful photos today too. The heron is fantastic-he must like that spot as you seem to see him frequently, and what a beautiful statue. I know, sad we have to protect things against vandals, but my guess is that is nothing new-unfortunately. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteThat is true! The heron is nearly always there, that's his special spot!
DeleteWonderful post with gorgeous projects. All are colourful and well done.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day xx
Morning Valerie, what lovely pics. Love your vintage tag and your hot African page. Hope Mr Heron's patience paid off and he managed to catch himself some lunch! Have a great day. xx
ReplyDeleteWow Valerie! After I have made this comment I know I will be going back for another look! What a fabulous post…your brilliant journal pages, (love those hot colours), your gorgeous tag and those brilliant photos! We have a heron down by the river bank too, almost always in the same spot and yes, mostly standing so still! The Basilica looks lovely and I agree that it is such a shame that we have to protect treasures in this way! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteThis post is fabulous today, Valerie! Love the beautiful page with flowers and stamps together. The TIOT page is really fascinating, the colours are amazing. And the tag is fantastic with a lovely image and great effects round the edge. Interesting photos as always.

I was reading how you made your tag and thinking, gosh that must have taken ages, and then you said it took 20 minutes. Super fast work and superb result.
ReplyDeleteLove all your art here, the wild and hot is just what it says, and your postage art is, as ever, unique and arty.
Great photos of the religious artefacts too and yes, a heron often can play at statues for longer than we can look.
Well all 3 of your art pieces really POP today!!! Your creativity is boundless ♥♥♥♥ I love the photos...that sky is almost surreal and very dramatic. The Church and the statue are very nice... the Heron steals the show in my book :) You know he's my favorite bird ♥ Thanks for sharing some much Greatness with us today ♥
