Hi Everybody!
Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
For Art Journal Journey I have another comedian's page, but this time the stamps I used were not from Al Hirschfeld. I used a set of Charlie Chaplin stamps issued by the Vatican, and another stamp from Czechoslovakia. The large image of Charlie was made with a stencil from Stencilry.org. I painted the A3 page with gesso, and used various stencils to create the background. I added some shading with DI old paper. I kept the colours to red, white and black again. The bow tie was added using a scrap of red paper.
He was another man whose films I devoured as a child, and I must admit, I still love them.
The quote is one of my faves and is from CC:
Failure is not important - it takes courage to make a fool of yourself.
Today some happy mail arrived at my place from Chrissie.
The envelope is a nice piece of mail art!
Inside I found a large piece of burlap, a tin of charcoal pencils in various thicknesses, some lovely bird cards, which will be great for scrapping, and some lip salve. And last but not least, a beautiful tag from Chrissie, which is now on my desk watching me! Thanks a lot Chrissie, your gifts are much appreciated.
Today was warm and rather humid, and we had some glorious clouds this morning:
I watched this lady standing on the shore of the Rhine doing her Yoga exercises- what a lovely place to meditate!
And this is a little boat belonging to the fire brigade:
Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Lovely quote and Charlie Chaplain page! Thoughtful gifts from Chrissie and good for the yoga lady, why not enjoy the weather?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic little envelope you received! I can't wait to see what you use those bird cards for! And the Charlie Chaplin page is fabulous. I take it you must have seen the film with Robert Downy Jr. about his life? If not, I recommend it.

ReplyDeleteWow to the journal page today the stamp is just terrific as are all the images. A great quote as well.
ReplyDeleteLove the photographs and doing yoga at the side of the river seems such a perfect idea. The rich blue in the skies is amazing and adds so much depth to the photographs.
Pleased the little package arrived and quite quickly as well :)I had to do some art on it as you taught me that it makes packages and cards special. It certainly got a good few comments at our post office so maybe they get special attention with art on them:)
Have a great day
Love Chrissie xx

I love all the cool stamps you incorporated into your CC page. That's so sweet of Chrissie to send you all those fun goodies, including her fun hand drawn tag for TT. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteCharlie Chaplin stamps issued by the Vatican? - I had to double read this. Your range of art is amazing. Your stash must be such a treasure trove. I like the restricted colour palette, so effective with his black hat and red bow tie.
ReplyDeleteGreat sky photos again and the lady doing yoga, I wonder if she reads your blog.
I hope not....
DeleteI found the red touches really inspired in the Chaplin pieces. Very nice art overall. I am enthused about your blog's content!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection of stamps you have!! I must say , mine are quite boring in comparison!!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of the woman meditating- wonderfully inspiring! xo
Wie genial - eine tolle hommage an Charlie Chaplin. Hut ab vor dem Gestalten von A3 Seiten... ich komme bei den A4 Seiten schon an meine Grenzen :D
ReplyDeleteI love your Charlie Chaplin piece Val, he always makes me think of Saturday mornings, and watching his films with my Grandad. This lady almost makes me want to take up yoga lol xx
