Presidents, postage stamps and thunder storms

Hi Everybody!

We had another very hot day, but with several bouts of very stormy weather
with thunder, lightning, wind and rain. And a few minutes later the rain had just evaporated. There are still storm warnings for the night, but I hope it will be a tad cooler tomorrow.

For Art Journal Journey, post and postage, I have another page to share. In the week before the challenge began I managed to get 19 pages made, and have done a few more in the meantime, as I wanted to have less stress with making a new page every day. Now I am stressed by having to choose which page I show!
Anyway, this is an A3 mixed media page with postage stamp men. The paper was painted with gesso, collaged with paper scraps and stenciled with various stencils to make a platform. I used stamps showing some of the US presidents, and the quote was googled.

The bird photos were taken very early this morning before sunrise, I think they were waiting for breakfast:

Shortly after sunrise the clouds starting massing for the first big storm of the day:

The rain was really heavy:

I am hoping very much that we soon get back to our
normal 'summer' weather!

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  13. Mr umbrella man is so versatile; he never ceases to amaze at the positions he can carry off. He deserves to be a president or three for a day, lol. The quote is amusing.
    I hope your weather is more settled today {{Hugs}}

  15. Beautiful postage and vintage style collage. It's very hot here as well, thunderstorms are expected tomorrow. However we are lucky to have AC inside, but it doesn't work as well upstairs where we sleep. Have a great week, Shirleyxx

  16. A brilliant piece! We have those thunderstorms heading our way now for tomorrow and Wednesday at least. With this hot humid weather they can pop up any time.

  19. More strips of paper on your page today which I think are so effective, Valerie. The umbrella man with a new postage face is perfect for today's journal. You have been a busy lady making so many pages for us to view every day. We also had a short rain shower yesterday which cooled things down but this morning, the sky is blue and the temperature is heating up. Back to a hot summer.
    Hugs,
    C

  20. HEHEHEH- just genius - that's for sure.... You are the best Valerie! I mean who would have thought to put the umbrella man's body over a presidents head - ehehehhehehehe - and the sentiment - just PERFECT, PERFECT... PERFECTLY FUN AND WONDERFUL. Oh and your photos... I always so love seeing what you capture with your camera. I would love to paint that bird in the tree silhouette. Love your posts... thanks for starting my week with fun! j.

I'm astonished as to how you managed to make so many art pieces in advance as well as keeping up every day.

    1. When I start to work on a theme I need lots of supplies and make a big mess, and then it's easier and quicker to keep going and make several.

    2. That's quite a good way to work, even if you just started several.

  25. What a funny and imaginative page. I love how you made bodies for the postage stamps and that is a really cute quote too. What a nice problem to have, trying to select which page to post each day.

Wow. Your weather sounds brutal. Amazing that the rain would evaporate so quickly, which shows how very hot it is. I hope this lets up for you soon. Do you have air conditioning? We don't have any in our house because we have never needed it. If we were hit with such heat, it would be hard to bear.

    Blessing hugs,
    Teresa
