Collage, sky and birds

Hi Everybody!

For Art Journal Journey, collage and Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin, I made an A3 mixed media Collage. The background was painted with a mix of titan buff and gesso. I collaged various bits and pieces from my table onto the lower half of the page, and added a piece of embroidery thread, some stamping and some tissue tape. The handsome man dropped through my letterbox in an advert. I cut him out, used his reverse as a template and sprayed round him with dark brown, and then added his front side to the collage. I added some stenciling and used another stencil for the text.

We had beautiful weather today - cold but sunny. The day started with a beautiful pre-dawn sky:

The gulls were once again all gathered at the jetty, I love watching them:

The sun was glinting on the water:

As I saw this I was wondering if we had a shark in the Rhine, but as it came nearer I saw it was just drift wood:

Standing on one leg seems to be in fashion for big and small:

Have a good day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  2. Fantastic page today with the young man and the "final image." Very clever and I also like it when you let colors run down your pages (like the one yesterday). The tags you posted yesterday were terrific. I played the violin in my younger days. Now it hangs on the wall in our living room. The crisp photos are marvelous, especially the one of the blue heron.
It is very cold here with snow expected so I did our grocery shopping this morning. Brrrrr; stay warm.

    Love hugs,
    C

  4. Brilliant use of a handsome man .... maybe that doesn't read quite correctly LOL. What I mean is that it is just so clever to use the image as a template, I'd never have thought of it. A brilliant collage and as always, wonderful to look at your photos.

  7. My junk mail is practically non-existent, but yours seems to be flourishing. I like the clever idea to use the cut out as a mask. I had to laugh at the sentiment on the page. Rough draft indeed, I've actually known a few of those in my life (grin).

Great photos, since I'm always a fan of birds. Have a great Friday, dear.

  13. Eine fabelhafte Collage ! Jawohl! Der Spruch ist herrlich - Als Gott den Mann erschuf hat sie nur geübt!
So schöne Aufnahmen ! Als ich als Kind das erste mal Möwen sah und einige davon auf einem Bein, hab ich gefragt ob die nur ein Bein hätten..... sieht immer irgenwie komisch aus.
Ich wünsch Dir einen wunderschönen Tag!

  30. Amusing about the birds standing on one leg. They communicate by Twitter, of course.
These cherubs are looking up at the man who dropped into your letterbox, what a good idea to make use of him, it's a fun collage.

  34. wow, this is a beautiful page Valerie! I love how you used the flipside of the male as a template, and that female face at the left bottom corner is gorgeous. What kind of technique did you use for that?

    1. It was just a piece of paper on which I wiped the colour of my stencil, using the same piece several times.
