Hi Everybody!
For Art Journal Journey, collage and Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin, I made an A3 mixed media Collage. The background was painted with a mix of titan buff and gesso. I collaged various bits and pieces from my table onto the lower half of the page, and added a piece of embroidery thread, some stamping and some tissue tape. The handsome man dropped through my letterbox in an advert. I cut him out, used his reverse as a template and sprayed round him with dark brown, and then added his front side to the collage. I added some stenciling and used another stencil for the text.
We had beautiful weather today - cold but sunny. The day started with a beautiful pre-dawn sky:
The gulls were once again all gathered at the jetty, I love watching them:
The sun was glinting on the water:
As I saw this I was wondering if we had a shark in the Rhine, but as it came nearer I saw it was just drift wood:
Standing on one leg seems to be in fashion for big and small:
Have a good day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Great collage! And the quote is fantastic. And how true- ha-ha! Love all the birdies too!
ReplyDeleteFantastic page today with the young man and the "final image." Very clever and I also like it when you let colors run down your pages (like the one yesterday). The tags you posted yesterday were terrific. I played the violin in my younger days. Now it hangs on the wall in our living room. The crisp photos are marvelous, especially the one of the blue heron.
ReplyDeleteIt is very cold here with snow expected so I did our grocery shopping this morning. Brrrrr; stay warm.
Love hugs,
C
Hope you don't get too much snow!
DeleteBeautiful collage and love the quote, better not tell it to my hubby. Wonderful photos, too. Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteBrilliant use of a handsome man .... maybe that doesn't read quite correctly LOL. What I mean is that it is just so clever to use the image as a template, I'd never have thought of it. A brilliant collage and as always, wonderful to look at your photos.

Great page, Valerie. Love the quote and how you interpreted it. Beautiful shot of early morning. hugs, Donna xo
ReplyDeleteBrilliant page - what a brilliant idea on how to use the handsome man! (may have to borrow that idea! ) LoVe the quote! Great photos once again - the seagull looks like he would topple over if the wind blew suddenly! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteMy junk mail is practically non-existent, but yours seems to be flourishing. I like the clever idea to use the cut out as a mask. I had to laugh at the sentiment on the page. Rough draft indeed, I've actually known a few of those in my life (grin).
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, since I'm always a fan of birds. Have a great Friday, dear.
I just love the way you create your collages. Just wonderful. Great photos too.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why they stand on one leg like that? Lovely page, indeed a handsome man! Happy PPF!

Eine fabelhafte Collage ! Jawohl!

ReplyDeletewow, this is a beautiful page Valerie! I love how you used the flipside of the male as a template, and that female face at the left bottom corner is gorgeous. What kind of technique did you use for that?
ReplyDeleteIt was just a piece of paper on which I wiped the colour of my stencil, using the same piece several times.
DeleteBeautiful! The photos are stunning, but it looks cold there. Stay warm. Happy holidays!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful page Valerie, The quote is great!! Love seeing the birds standing on one leg. Maybe they take turns staying warm like that. Great sky pics too. xo

ReplyDeleteLovely collage, Valerie. Do you use digital techniques in your collage or is it all handmade? The bird photos are charming.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
This was all made by hand.
DeleteStanding on one leg is good exercise! Not so easy as it was when a child...
ReplyDeleteHave a good week ahead!
What a beautiful page. The reverse stenciling is a creative idea. I love the contrast between the sunny journal page and the predawn photo. Lovely posting Valerie. Have a lovely week.
