Beneath me flows the Rhine

Hi Everybody!

For Art Journal Journey, collage, and for 99 faces, I have a hybrid collage, created using various photos and a face drawing, layered together to make a collage. The background is a photo taken from my window, the buildings at the front show the Altstadt of Düsseldorf. I added a photo of a bird on a branch, also taken from my window, and some wild geese taken at the Rhine. The quote is from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, an American writer and poet of the 19th Century, famous for his epic poem of Hiawatha among other things. I often think of his words when looking down from the top the castle ruins here.

And fitting to the theme of the collage, some photos taken along the Rhine:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  6. What a great collage today. Those blue eyes are really blue and they almost started me at first because I was so focused on the photo part and they just shot out. Nice surprise! Hugs!

  8. Eine ganz wunderbare Collage heute Valerie! Grossartig!

  9. Terrific page Valerie and great to see you using your area as subject matter for it.

Love the photographs today and nice to see that it looks calm and not too high as a lot of the rivers in UK have flooded the surrounding areas

    Have a lovely Sunday

    1. The Rhine is well filled, but not flooded, the rain was really necessary as the river was several metres under its usual level.

  17. I'm not sure which was more enjoyable today, the lovely photos of the Rhine, or the gorgeous collage you created. Impressive is not a strong enough word for how much I enjoyed this post.
