Hi everybody!
This is my last post for this year, so I hope you all enjoy
New Year's Eve and have a great
2017.
For Art Journal Journey, light and darkness,
I have another hybrid piece. Thanks to Eva and Kristin for
hosting the party every week. I used some designer paper for the background, which I panted over with splodges and dabs. Then I melded it digitally, using a mask (Serif) with a photo of a decaying tree stump
covered in spiders' webs. I added the photo of the statue,
and a face drawing I made, I just altered the colours.
I have not made my usual collage of all the pieces I made in
the month, as this month was a very hard one for me, and I don't want
to think about it again:
Today I am sharing some glass from the glass museum,
they have such a treasure trove of antique glass there:
Have a great day, and a good start in the New Year.
Thanks a lot for coming by!
LOvely art and photos, love the antique glass. I'm off to the dentist with Leah and the kids, catch you later! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteAll your pieces this month have been amazing Valerie and it was a great subject to choose. Thank you for hosting it all.
ReplyDeleteWonderful glassware and I am sure you enjoyed seeing all of them though the ones you own looked equally as interesting and meant so much more for sure.A lot of the ones you have I have owned similar through the years but they have fallen along the wayside, as many of my possessions have, so I loved seeing them-thank you for sharing.
I hope 2017 brings you happiness and health.
Hugs Chrissie xx

ReplyDeleteI was working with an angel too but I fear all of our Light and Darkness ideas will be trapped in my head. It is a brilliant theme.
Sorry you've had a hard month. My wish for you is for happiness and good health and may all of your wishes come true.
Happy New Year lovely lady oxo
p.s. the ancient glass pieces are stunning...just to think that they have remained in one piece for so many years boggles the mind!

I always wonder how such a fragile material can be buried for 2000 years and still look so gorgeous!
Deleteso sorry this month was not a good one for you, let's move forward with hope for better months. Love the glass exhibits, a feast for the eyes. A beautiful hybrid piece as well.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous page Valerie -- there is something about sculpted angles that give me peace. Perfect quote for your theme and the fact that we are heading into a new year.
ReplyDeleteGlass does hole a mystery that is marvelous - so easily broken but ages so beautifully.

The angel is standing in the little cemetery here, facing the street, I see her every day, and always wonder why the statue was put in that direction....

ReplyDeleteBeautiful hybrid piece Valerie and words to inspire. Nature is always an uplifter. Hope your 2017 is lighter, easier and full of fulfilling creative activity. xox
ReplyDeleteBeautiful page.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
It's hard to enjoy the holidays when you are alone. I totally understand. I remember one year, when some of the restaurants in town were giving away a free meal if it was your birthday, I had NO ONE to go with me. I decided I was going to do something about that. Of course, I have far more internet friends than actual friends, so I understand.
ReplyDeleteYour final page is lovely, and I hope 2017 is better for both of us. I often wonder how I got so far behind, something I can't say about you. You have faced this tough month with aplomb and wonderful art. You were also a fantastic host.
The blue glass always catches my eye. I love every entry, but the cobalt color blue is really what makes me happy.
Happy New Year, dear friend. I know it will be safe, so enjoy it and look to the future with pride and enjoyment.
Beautiful artwork Valerie, the background to the angel is exquisite. I would be wondering about the angel facing that way too.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year once again to you. I hope 2017 is a fantastic year for you.
