Hi Everybody!
Our lovely challenge at Art Journal Journey, 'In my garden there is', which Yvonne has hosted so well, is almost over. But as much as we will miss this theme, the next great theme begins on Monday, and I am sure we will
all enjoy it, too.
This double spread was made in my 'old' new journal. The background was brayered and stamped with a script stamp - any paint leftovers I have are used to brayer backgrounds, which is really quick and effective. The poppies were stamped using a set I got from Carolyn (thanks again Sweetie!). I used water colours to paint them, and the dragonflies were stenciled and partly outlined with black ink.
These past couple of days it has cooled down a bit. In my apartment it is still too warm, it takes a long time for the heat to go away. Yesterday it rained, so I put on my Goretex jacket and walked through the rain for 2 hours - wonderful!
The flowers were enjoying it, too:
I love the dandelions in front of the graffiti on the subway wall:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Two wonderful pages Valerie and a terrific idea to use a brayed with odds and ends of paint. The poppies look amazing against the paler background
ReplyDeleteLove the fliers in the rain photographs. It rained here all morning but is now sunny and hot once again. At least the grass looks a bit greener now it has rained.
Have a nice evening
Love Chrissie xx

I had an old journal that had words in it that I used to get the paint off my brayer, faux credit card, and paint brush. I also made ghost prints of rubber stamped images before I cleaned them. It took nearly a year, but I finally had the book filled with these very colorful and unique backgrounds that never would have happened or looked so good had I planned them in advance. That is what makes your poppies and dragonflies so special.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers looked especially good today because of the rain. Even the dandelion pops in front of that red graffiti on the subway wall. Great art and lovely photos. Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend.
Love the idea of a brayer for backgrounds. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteHerrliche Seiten sind das wieer und jedes einzelne Blumenfoto für sich ist wunderschön!
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday!

ReplyDeleteThese are seriously wonderful photos, so clear and fresh. I especially like the one with the green leaves sprinkled with water, it would make a lovely relaxing wall print.
ReplyDeleteMeant also to say I love your new header.
DeleteThanks, the comment is visible this time!
DeleteI see I am not alone in my love to photograph raindrops on ... just about everything :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Gorgeous art, Valerie! And the photos are so beautiful. I love a gentle rain. I remember as kids being sent outside to play in the rain. We had an "umbrella" tree and could play under it without getting soaked. Brings back such wonderful memories of an innocent and free time.
ReplyDeleteA two hour walk in the rain. I love that!!! The photos are just stunning as is your art.
ReplyDeleteAs always, beautifully done. And your flower pictures are award winners.
