Memories and roses

Hi Everybody!

July the 6th would have been the 100th birthday of my Mother,
so today I made a little rose garden map with some photos of her, taken when she was 2, 11, and 12. On the group photo she is the second from the left, and was very proud to be bridesmaid at her Uncle Benny's wedding.
She always loved flowers, especially roses, and pink was one of her favourite colours. She died a few days before her 85th birthday.

I am linking to Art Journal Journey, in my garden.

Today I am just showing flower photos as my Mum would have liked them in her garden.

And my quote for today:

'God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December'
James M Barrie

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  2. Love the page about your Mom. She looks so cute all dressed up as a bridesmaid. I think making it on the map and adding the roses was smart. I also love all the rose photos. Mine have looked beautiful this year also. Happy Mid-week-already! Time flies too fast. Hugs-Erika

  7. Happy July, Valerie. Our family has left so I spent a while catching up on my favorite blogs and you posted so much for me to enjoy that it took a while to get current. Fantastic journal pages and other projects. When it rains, it really comes down in sheets in your area. I was amazed at one of the previous photos you posted. Your tribute to your mum is marvelous. My mother also loved roses as do I. It is fun to look back at old photos to see how prim and proper they were dressed. I love the one of your mum as a young girl and she also has a vase filled with flowers on the ledge next to her. Your photos of the flowers are outstanding and I could almost smell their fragrance. A beautiful flower makes the whole world smile.
    Hugs,
    Carolyn

  22. I think she may have been one of the most beautiful children I have ever seen. Those photos are fantastic and your words so touching. My dad passed that 100-year mark (as an anniversary, unfortunately not in real life) and my mom in 2018 but I know I will have to salute her then. I hope I do as nice a job as you!

  23. What a beautiful tribute to your mother. It is wonderful. She was such a precious little girl, and the wedding picture...what a treasure. My daddy lived to be 100 1/2 which still amazes me. One day I need to do something like this for him. Your flower pictures are beautiful. Such awesome macro captures. Gorgeous colors. genie

  24. What intrigued me was the fact that she was the only female smiling at her uncle's wedding. I can tell she was happy. She looks like she was always smiling and enjoying life.

My grandmother's favorite flower was a yellow rose. Your flowers are a beautiful tribute to your mother's 100th birthday, dear friend.
