Hi Everybody!
Another week is flying by, and I never know where the hours fly to.
For Art Journal Journey, in my garden - Yvonne's lovely summer theme - I have some more journal pages to show. I will also be linking to
Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin.
In the meantime I have a whole journal full of doodled stuff, and this piece here was made in recent weeks, too. I added some colour to it yesterday using Gelatos and 'no name' gelatos from Aldi, which are also very good at just a fraction of the price. I think this is me, looking at the birds and flowers on my balcony, which is my garden. And I wish I had a dog, too.
This is a hybrid piece, made using a photo taken from my balcony in the early morning, some flying ducks - from another photo - and some poppies completed this week.
This is the 'poppy' painting, done on a piece of white card saved from some packaging. It started life as series of red blobs where I was trying out some colours weeks ago. I discovered the 'blobs' this week whilst looking for something else, and thought they looked vaguely like poppies. I worked on them with India ink and gelatos to make the finished piece. It was then digitally 'cut out' and placed on the photo background above.
And here some more photos taken from my balcony this week:
The water in the Rhine has dropped, and we are now almost back to normal. As always,I love to watch the ships, and caught Maria chugging by:
Flowers on the town walls:
This beauty was resting in a patch of sunlight:
And in case you were wondering why this post is called 'Da Vinci in Kaiserswerth' - here he is:
I would love to go for a cruise with Da Vinci!
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Hi Val, lots of lovely work again today. Love the doodle-garden and the 'blob' poppies are fantastic, and the page you created with them. Good one with Da Vinci! Have a great day, will call you later. Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post today. Your artwork is amazing as always and the doodled project is so different-where do you get all these amazing ideas?
ReplyDeleteFantastic photographs as always and the flowers where you live are always so much ahead of the ones here. Our nasturtiums are only just coming into leaf.
Have a great day
Love Chrissie xx
Thanks, I didn't know what the flowers were called!
DeleteNow I've retired there is time to sit and enjoy other people's beautiful pictures and great art. That butterfly photo is fabulous you have really captured the iridescence of the lower wings. Great doodle page, but it is the Poppies that really wowed me. BTW thank you for your comment pointing out the error my dyslexia had led me into. XOXO
ReplyDeleteBeing retired is good!
DeleteI love your doodled page and your garden page is beautiful - the poppies are lovely.
ReplyDeletexxx Hazel.

Cool doodle Valerie. I love the little flowers. I have never heard of aldi and am curious about it. Also I love poppies and they don't grow well for me. I have tried but they always end up never coming back. And like you I'd love to travel on the da Vinci. I bet it would be fun. Gorgeous photos again. This week is sure flying by. Hugs erika
ReplyDeleteWonderful pages Valerie, and the photos are beautiful. Glad the water is back to normal and looks like your summer is here.
ReplyDeleteYour doodle piece is a real favourite, it's just super, it draws me in and keeps me staring! I love your poppies too, wonderfully put together. Summer seems to be blooming this way too, a beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteWonderful bold doodles and some great poppies! Nice to see those nasturtiums trailing from the wall. A true garden filled post. xox
ReplyDeleteFabulous doodled page Valerie, I was busy smiling at the bird and didn't notice the lovely face until I started scrolling down :)
ReplyDeleteLove your poppies too.
Great photos - Da Vinci looks cool - and a very long boat!
Lovely to see the beautiful Red Admiral, we don't get so many butterflies lately, but I'm hoping the Buddleia we are growing may help encourage them.
Hope you've had a lovely day
Gill xx
Gorgeous pages today from doodles to red poppies. I like both of them a lot, along with your new photos. The Da Vinci is a long ship and I agree it would make for a lovely cruise up and down the Rhine. The days are flying by; however, you accomplish so much every day. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteC
I looked at the ship on the internet, seems to be a bit too expensive for me, but I can dream!
DeleteGreat hybrid piece and I love your doodled page. Hugs, Teresa
ReplyDeleteYour doodle page is wonderful Valerie and your poppies are gorgeous too!
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe it's July already.
The views from your garden porch are always so lovely.
I like the way you make the most of it attracting birds and such.

The doodled "you, bird, flowers and dog" picture is superb, a perfect abstracted garden. I like the contrast of the black and white and then the colours. The not-Gelatos from Aldi sound interesting too.
ReplyDeleteA fabulous post today, I love the doodle page, it is crammed full of amazing details and of course the cute dog.
ReplyDeleteThe poppies are gorgeous and you added a lovely quote to the hybrid page.. As always the photos are super.
Yvonne xx
Lovely doodles Valerie! The abstract shapes and details you have included are wonderful, it's great that you have included yourself looking at the birds and flowers on your balcony, and the dog is so adorable. Wishing you a happy and sunny week :-)
ReplyDeleteI googled Da Vinci - it looks charming inside, like in old movies! We've had more than enough rain and it's cool, now only +16 brrrr...
ReplyDeleteHappy ppf!
Wonderful doodle and I love your poppies! Gorgeous photos too, that sky!
ReplyDeleteYour doodle is fun and I love those gelato pens - lovely colours. Your blob poppies are inspired - they turned out brilliantly.

ReplyDeleteFabulous artwork... I love the doodles and it reminds me of myself. I love to watch the birds, I have a dog and love doodles! Your poppies are divine. It's great to hear how they evolved and so beautifully transformed into the final piece.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos too. Happy PPF to you
Love the doodle art and love that I have a dog and birds in my garden. Well I don't actually have a garden but I live in the country and the world is my garden filled with critters.
ReplyDeleteYou're looking very happy looking at the flowers and birds! And those flying ducks are amazing. Great picture!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is wonderful. Love the bird and the doodles, as well as the hybrid piece with the poppies.
ReplyDeleteI sent off for a travel brochure of the river boats that travel rivers rather than seas. Such a difference in the boats, and they have set destinations, none of which stop in your town.

I hadn't doodled in the longest time, but just this week, I did. Yours are beautiful, but the poppies - oh my - they are great!
ReplyDeleteI would love to go on a cruise on the "Da Vinci" too! You do have the most wonderful sky pictures from your Balcony. Although the flowers are petty - I drool over the old brick on the wall. I also love your poppies - beautiful artwork!
ReplyDeletesandy xx
I LOVE the old bricks and walls here - people always look at me like I am crazy when they see me taking photos of them!
