Hi Everybody!
I have spent yesterday and today mostly in my bed,
as I am not feeling well and just want to hide under
a blanket and sleep. I think I will spend the rest
of the weekend there, too!
I have 2 pieces to share today. The first is an 8 x 7"
piece made for Chris' lovely '101 ways to keep warm'
challenge at Art Journal Journey.
I called it, 'Fluff up your feathers to keep warm'.
The image is from Gecko Galz
and has been printed onto canvas:
For Sandie's challenge at Tag Tuesday, book-print, I have
one more tag. The was coloured with distress
oxide inks in spiced marmalade and frayed burlap.
The leaves and Mr U.M. were die cut:
After we left the woods and lakes we visited the
industrial park again in Duisburg. It was like
wandering through giant, rusty castles or cathedrals:
You can see us hovering in front of the notice board
like 3 ghosts:
There is even a summit cross in the climbing area:
This is a giant slide, but it was unfortunately closed
when we were there:
There was lots of lovely rust everywhere, I am sure Elisabeth
will enjoy it:
More pictures to follow!
Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Puff up your feathers, indeed. Certainly need to to that here. Last Friday, we had temps in the mid-70s and this morning the temps plummeted to 19. A windchill will make it feel even colder. Himself's primary school had a slide like that to evacuate the upper floor in case of an emergency. I didn't attend that school so was jealous his fire drills were more fun and exciting than the ones at my school. Hope you feel better.
ReplyDeleteLovely artwork, both so different but both gorgeous. Great photos, too, I would love to go there. Look after yourself and keep warm, stay in bed. Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteBeautiful artwork both! Feel better soon - take good care of you!
ReplyDeleteDo you climb? I'm afraid I would have been the cowardly lion about the slide even if it was open.
ReplyDeleteYour pieces are wondrous. I bet they'd go like hotcakes in a boutique.
Love your background.
I do hope you're feeling better.
Hugs,
Absolutely LOVE "Fluff your feathers" ♥♥♥ The industrial is amazing and so glad they have put it to good use instead in just bulldozing it down as I'm sure they would over here. Hope you are feeling better already ♥
ReplyDeleteI adore this 'Fluff up your feathers'page Valerie! So apt for AJJ - Thank You! I love the tag - hopefully I can get around to making one! Absolutelylove all. hope you get well soon to
ReplyDeleteSorry you are not feeling well. Your AJJ 'warm' piece is lovely and a beautiful tag today. Interesting to see the ore bunkers and climbing area in Duisburg park.
ReplyDeleteI was so impressed with the rusty photos you shared. I loved that there were several colors of rust, and each had its own beauty. This was truly an amazing place. The patinas were out of this world, and the images were simply splendid. Although I loved each and every rusty photo (I've been going back and forth admiring each one), one struck me as unusual. That was the tree growing through the rusty metal.
ReplyDeleteThe Duisburg industrial park was so appealing. I was very impressed that this area was saved from demolition and became something for all ages to enjoy.
I fell in love with your AJJ entry. Fluff your feathers was perfect. I adored how you decorated the page with feathers, fabric, and sewing. It's a beautiful piece.
I also enjoyed seeing your tag for Tag Tuesday. There is no more beautiful font than that coming from German books. I love how you used it for your background.
Please, please feel better soon and at least try to have a fabulous weekend.
Mr. U.M. is very handsome! And those grain elevators. Wow.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you feel up to par very soon indeed. I know what it's like to feel so awful you don't want to get out of bed and I think your plan of hiding under the covers is a good one! Take care. Better yet, hope someone takes care of you!
Its a fabulous canvas with those lovely birds and feathers.
ReplyDeleteMr U looks great on the tag and the book print is wonderful in the background.
The photos again were fantastic, I loved the industrial ones as well, it was good that the area was saved.
I do hope you will be feeling better soon, stay warm and look after yourself.
Yvonne xx
Love the fluff up your feathers and your book print tag.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you aren't feeling well Valerie. I hope it's a quick recovery but get rest for sure! Love your adorable little birds on canvas. Yup, it's cold and they fluff up and it is amazing how some birds can make it through the whole winter. And your Mr. Umbrella Man tag looks tropical. Think its the black on the orange. :) nd wow. That industrial complex looks haunting. It would be a great steampunk background. I enjoyed seeing these. Please take care of yourself and get lots of rest. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI sure hope that you are feeling better soon and that you get lots of rest Valerie. Your mixed media pieces are always amazing. I just love how you print on canvas. Also, your tag is so interesting. I love the umbrella man silhouette but I also really like how you made it a tropical look with those leaves.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and feel better!
Kate
I think your artwork looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read you're feeling under the weather - here's hoping you feel better soon.

Feathers, stitching and colours...what else could one ask for in a post apart from the fabulous photos.xx[aNNie]🎄
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear you're not feeling well - wrap up warm and stay in bed - sounds like an excellent idea!
ReplyDeleteReally love today's projects - the teazle image looks so great on canvas and I love the simple natural embellishments. And Umbrella Man always makes me happy for some reason, and you can't go wrong with a fabulous text background like that. The Industrial Park looks like a fabulously inspirational place to visit - all those amazing shapes and structures and wonderful rusty patinas. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Both pieces are lovely, those birds printed on canvas look great with just the perfect embellishments to go along with them. The tag looks super too. That Industrial Park looks amazing and you captured all those rusty, patina tones just perfectly!

Hi Valerie your texture/textile canvas is gorgeous and the tag is fabulous too. Sorry to read that you are not feeling well, hopefully it's just a 24 hour flu bug that will quickly leave :) Take good care xx

ReplyDeleteLove the image printed on canvas, it gives it such a wonderful texture, especially with the frayed edges. Always love to see Mr UM, it's a great tag. The industrial park looks such an interesting place, glad you had a great time.
