Colourful or black?

Hi Everybody!

On the 5th of each month we begin a new challenge at
More Mixed Media. As always, the challenge are
anything goes, this time with optional black.
You have 4 weeks to enter.
For my A3 piece I used black as a contrast to the colours
of the rainbow, which I used here in the reverse order.
The face was stamped with the stamp I recently cut. The BG was
gessoed, and the halo of colours was added with blended
gelatos. The stamped face was then sewn to the BG,
and I added some lines of sewing in the halo.
I am also linking to Chris' '101 ways to keep warm'
challenge at Art Journal Journey, as colours always make
me feel warm.

For Simon Monday Challenge, 'all creatures great and small', and
Tag Tuesday, Sandie's challenge of 'book-print', I have
a tag. The book-print BG was coloured with distress oxide inks
in spiced marmalade, abandoned coral and frayed burlap,
and sewn onto matting in black and coordinating stripes.
The hedgies were die cut, I imagined them looking for a place
under the leaves to hibernate. The quote is from
Ecclesiastes chapter 3.

I didn't go walking yesterday as I was not feeling so good,
but was able to take photos from my balcony. The raven, up at
the top of the tree in the field behind the house, was busy
with his morning toilet:

And I was treated to a front seat to watch the moon rise up through
the tries, making a very spooky glow in the sky:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. The black's a wonderful contrast to the rainbow, and a lovely tag today. The raven almost looks like a silhouette. Glad you enjoyed the moonrise and I hope you feel better soon.

  2. The colors around the face look to me like her aura. the indigo is on the outer edge meaning she's creative, honest, and intuitive. I love the Tiggies (hegehogs) at first I thought they were just piles of leaves. The crow and moon perfect images for this week. Very spooky. Hope you are feeling better.

  11. Fabulous moon photos. Oh yes, and the new header is one of my favorites. Love those owls! Your stamp works so well, especially with those colors. They are warm and wonderful for sure. And the way you used them makes your image seem like she has a halo. She must be a good and warm person to have that. Great tag too. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Hugs-Erika

  12. I was really sorry to read you were not feeling well again. When I'm not well, the furthest thing from my mind is making art. So I applaud you.

I am AGAIN in awe of this face stamp. You certainly used it well for both challenges. Of course, I was especially happy with how you used it for AJJ.

Oh what cute hedgehogs. I don't think we have them here, but if so, I don't think I've ever seen one. I hope they find a safe place to stay.

Your moon shots are fabulous. Great views from your balcony.
