Hi Everybody!
Another week is flying by, and I am trying to catch
up with myself.
For Paint Party Friday I have a mixed media collage
made some weeks ago. A few months back I
cleared out a lot of old journal pages and
paintings, some of which I cut into pieces and
re-used in other pictures. The BG was painted
and textured with a brayer. I added all of my bits and
bobs and 2 figures cut from magazines,
who are wandering through the maze and
looking at everything. The face in the middle
seems to be watching the visitors....
I did lots of sewing to
hold it all together, and stenciled some diamonds
over it to bring it together. I am also linking to
Simon Monday challenge, it's a stitch up:
Recently I visited the newly opened Aquazoo
in Düsseldorf. It was closed for renovations
for nearly 2 years, so it was great to visit the
refurbished museum this time. In the entryway we were
greeted with a bust of Theodor Löbbecke,
after whom the museum is named:
The museum follows educational and recreational
purposes, and is very well laid out:
I loved the fossils:
There were lots of aquariums giving a glimpse into
the under-water world, it was a bit like watching
TV but it was real, and everything was moving:
I loved the colourful jelly fish, too!
More photos to follow!
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
What a wonderful piece you are sharing today. Love the idea of using up scraps of old work and making them into something new. Great colours, too. The photos from the aquazoo are wonderful; must go there with the kids during the holidays, they would love it, too. Have a nice day, and look after yourself! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteGreat stitching and gorgeous colours.xx[aNNie]
ReplyDeleteYour art today is stunning Valerie. It made me really think because I think it says something more than just a typical journal page. The face in the middle looks a little angry. I hope the other 2 women are able to work it out with her. And I would love to visit the Aquazoo. You have been going to so many interesting places lately. I love all the fossils and skeletons. There is something very relaxing watching little creatures swim around. Have a fantastic day and start to your weekend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteA terrific Mixed Media piece and very intersting photos!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors of your page and the way it looks like a quilt square. And who is exploring? Did the face in the center open up a doorway to find two women? Or are the two women on a quest to get to the cente of the labyrinth for some wisdom from the figure peering in?
ReplyDeleteLove to visit the aquarium. So many colorful fish and creatures. A peek for us into an alien world. Have a great day!
