Hi Everybody!
Hope your weekend is going well. It was a cold and sunny
day here, very tempting to go out, but I stayed home
to cure my poor ribs. But the days are definitely getting longer,
it was light till after 5 pm - we're moving towards spring.
I made some rather crazy tags today. The tags were cut (12"x6") from Amazon
shipping envelopes, which are made of great cardboard. I gathered
a hand full of UFOs (Untidy flying objects) from my table
and used them. I did the sewing first, and the other decorations afterwards.
Here is the finished tag, sewn onto a larger
background of blue card. The blue/gold strips are made of tyvek, painted and then 'blasted' with the heat gun.The birds and spot were stenciled with
Dina Wakley stencils. The little girl is an image from Gecko Galz.
The sentiment is from Proverbs 9:9
This is how it started out:
I am linking to Country View Challenges, anything goes,
and to Go tag Thursday, feathers.
For Art Journal Journey, Erika's lovely theme of
'Tell me a story', I have a hybrid page with a quote from Poe:
The sky this morning:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Your journal page and photos are wonderful, as always, but I am in LOVE with the fantastic tag, so artful and edgy, WOW!!! I am in awe of how you did the sewing, too.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Sunday, hugs, Sarah
Good idea to be sensible and get better before you venture too far! Your tags are so fabulous, great scraps you have there! I love your journal page although I am not a great fan of Poe these days I remember reading his tales years ago! Your morning photos are fabulous! We had a lovely long and sunny day yesterday and went out for a walk but today we are back to grey skies and almost dark by 3.15! Hope you feel much better soon! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeletePoe's not my fave these days either, but as a kid I loved his books - times and tastes change!
DeleteLoving your work Valerie...its gorgeous and I love art with feathers. You are super talented!!!
ReplyDeleteI am still a fan of Poe. In October I did a sketch with a crow and a faded rose and wrote a tribute for Poe. I didn't flatter him because I feel that he wouldn't have appreciated that :)
Hugs...Jan
Your tag is amazing as is your journal page. I love how you've used the feathers in your tag. I'm glad you're still taking care with your recuperation. The photos are lovely too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work! The tag came out amazing and I love the way you recycle different materials and re-purpose them in your art. Your journal has such stunning colors in it. Hope you are having a happy day.

Its a gorgeous tag Valerie, love those feathers and textures.
ReplyDeleteThe page is also fantastic, I had to look twice, as I couldn't at first believe I had seen where you placed those eye. I'm still smiling.
Lovely photos from the balcony, pleased you are not venturing far in the cold.
Yvonne xx
Lovely large tags, a beautiful page and gorgeous skies today Valerie!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS TAG!! I love how you used the feathers and scraps. I never thought to heat blast Tyvek......very cool idea, and I will surely be using that one, it turned out fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI remember being a Poe fan, but that was some time back, yes, tastes change with age...LOL! But it is still a great AJJ page.
Beautiful mornings.........
Love your first piece, but your second piece really touched me. A mystery for sure. As always lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteKeep taking care of your ribs!!! I feel so bad for you!
ReplyDeleteYour art pieces are so beautiful!!! Gorgeous tag!! WOW!! I love your Poe piece!! Brilliant! You are so creative!
Beautiful photos!! Big Hugs!
Great theme today Valerie with all the objects in both the tag and your AJJ journal page. I like the darkness you have on your journal page-so full of mystery! Hope the ribs are improving! Although you must miss your walks (and I miss your photos), getting healed up is the most important thing. Happy rest of your weekend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing tag Valerie with so much to admire and real feathers as well :)
ReplyDeleteLove the page--especially the eyes in the bottom--an old expression my gran used to use though she didn't say bottom. Great quote as well.
Amazing photos and you are so lucky to see this from where you live. Hope you soon feel a lot better
Love Chrissie xx
The process of the tag making is really interesting.
ReplyDeleteLovely posting (cough, sneeze)
Glad that you stayed in, although I suspect you are getting a bit stir crazy. I really love this tag. I especially like the tyvek you painted and scrunched. It made it so different.
ReplyDeleteYour AJJ entry is gorgeous. I adore how you placed the fairy on the bird as she reached for the tree branch. That was very clever.
Looks like the morning sky held your attention. I swear I thought that was an "image" rising over the river, but I know it was just steam. It was eerie, though.
Have a super day and enjoy yourself, but please stay inside.
Wow.. tolle Seiten und Dein Tag ist so voluminös..sooo viel drauf - gigantisch!
ReplyDeleteSchönen Sonntag liebe Valerie!
The tag you have created is amazing Valerie love the feathers and all that stitching - stunning
ReplyDeleteYour AJJ page is wonderful so mysterious and though provoking
Look after your self - it'll soon be spring and you'll be able to get out with your camera and take those amazing shots that we all love so much
Have a lovely Sunday
xx Hilda
Another gorgeous tag, with wonderful textures using the fabrics and bits and pieces. The feather is awesome, I wonder if I still have some hanging around or maybe gave them away (I'm bad at giving stuff away if I haven't used it and then looking for it sometime later). I hope you are healing well. Good that you have a nice neighbour to help you out. Your views are beautiful. Enjoy the sunshine, it's SO dreary here we are feeling off. Take care, Shirleyxx
ReplyDeleteLove the TAG!!! I have lots of UFO's around here that could should be used in some manor... the purging process will start again on tomorrow. Great photos again and so glad to hear that you are thinking of yourself by staying in. I know how hard that can be to do ♥
ReplyDeleteWas für ein pompöser und extravaganter Tag! Sieht toll aus mit den blauen Farbakzenten! Tolle Details! Auch dein Journal-Seite ist wunderschön. Eine herrliche Komposition!
ReplyDeleteLiebe Grüße, Annette
Wonderful Valerie!!!! I am a big Edgar Allen Poe fan too. You are always so good and creative!
ReplyDeleteSandy xx
Love your tag Valerie. All the wonderful textiles and that feather is just lovely. Your sky pics are as brilliant as always! have a great day :)
Sabine

Love your sky photos...just amazing.
Fabulous tag and journal page. Some stunning photographs as well.
ReplyDeleteI love tags but I always have worked with a smaller size. I think I need to take a page from your book and go bigger. This is just stunning with such a beautiful combination of elements. Four star.
