Birds of a feather....

Hi Everybody!
It's weekend - enjoy!
The weather is not quite as sunny as it was the past 2 days,
but it's a bit milder, so that makes up for it. I was able to have a short
walk again. I wanted to pick up some lovely shells and feathers
I saw, but can't bend down yet because of my ribs.
I will find some another time!

For Art Journal Journey, Erika's theme of 'tell me a story',
I have 2 pages in my 2nd new journal,
which is already 'old' and nearly full!
The first page is a heap of words, you have to make
the story yourself! The 2nd page is about childhood
memories, I used to love watching my aunt cook
and bake, and being able to 'help', and
lick the spoon....

I am in a tag phase just now. This one is about 10", and once again
made of recycled cardboard, partly peeled. I covered it with a mix of Golden crackle paste mixed with sky blue paint. The Euro shop recently
had a variety of expensive brand names in crafty stuff for 1€ each,
which was great. I roughed it up with a palette knife and
added some Frantage EP. The other colours were added with
Gelatos and a water-brush. The birds are from a serviette,
which I pasted onto thin card and then fussy cut.
The red berries were made from small balls (Pentart),
painted red, and the eggs are larger balls painted egg-shell blue
and then crackled. The nest was embellished with a remnant
of Christmas decoration band and some feathers. Then
I sewed it to an old calendar page.

I am linking to Simon Monday challenge, spread your wings

We once again had a wonderful sunrise, enhanced by
dark clouds:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Your tags and journal pages hold so much more than the beautiful bling that you add and the time that you so lovingly give each and every piece... you are also adding love and cherished memories.
Each and everyone is a true treasure.

  4. What a delightful post Valerie, containing such beauty.
Your tag is gorgeous. I love it! So many happy memories and one particular one is licking the spoon from my mothers baking. I'm sure that's were my love of baking started.
Amazing sunsets especially that last photo. Thanks for sharing and making me smile. It's good to smile in these trouble times.
    Happy PPF to you x

  5. Wow. What a lot of gorgeous art today Valerie. I don't know which I like the best. Baking...makes me thinking of my grandmother-the kitchen experimenter (but always delicious-she had the knack)...words from stories (and I have been reading up a storm lately) and those adorable birds (spring-which I am very impatient for this year with all the dark skies we've had). Thanks for all the wonderful stories just today! :) Happy weekend! Hugs-Erika

  6. It is a lovely post Valerie. I could happily make up a story with the word strip from your fantastic journal spread. As for licking the spoon, childhood memories last in to all ages as I would still lick a spoon these days when making cakes.
The tag is also awesome love that nest you made for those super birds.

  14. I am always impressed with your art, and was sorry to read you can't yet lean over because of the rib. But the AJJ art you created sans feathers was simply awesome.

Your tag is incredible. I am in love with the birds, the nest, and the sewing. Thanks for explaining about the bird eggs being Pentart. I wondered the other day what the product was that you cussed over when they fell on the floor. I did an internet search and now know what the balls are.

Your sky photos are fantastic, as always. So lovely and colorful, too.

  16. Your journal pages are wonderful. I remember sitting on a stool when I was a little girl and my grandmother would tell me stories when she cooked. She loved to tell me where recipes came from and how to make them and I loved to watch and listen. Your tag is awesome! I love all the texture and the sewing is such a nice touch. Beautiful photos too! Thanks for joining us on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

  17. Wow to the whole post Valerie.

So pleased you know that you got out about but sorry you couldn't collect the things you saw because of you injuries.

The pages are a joy and to make one with a make your own story theme is a brilliant idea.

Now to the tag. It is stunning. So beautiful and so inventive with the 'real' nest and eggs. Well I thought they were at first glance.

I have to rely on you for sunrises of any kind these days as the sun seems to have moved from our neck of the woods. I would love to live some where with either a view of a sunrise or sunset they are so spectacular.

Love the header with the birds as well.

    Have a great day

    Chrissie xx

  18. That sunrise is something spectacular, you are lucky to be awake in time to see the beauty of nature in the rising. Now your makes are brilliant, the sentiment on the cook one is so true, mum always had such, and your gorgeous mixed media is just amazing...envious of your frantage success, mine is still a blobbly blob.xx{aNNie}
