Hi Everybody!
Today a new challenge is starting at Moo Mania and More -
*Lots of layers*
I made a hybrid piece using 4 different layers - a collage as background, my painting of the nude, a mask, and then the window. The window is one of the photos I took last week in Düsseldorf; I digitally removed the glass, as it had too many reflections. I am also linking to Art Journal Journey, inspired by the colours of autumn.

Here is the original photo:
For our 99 faces challenge I have a hybrid face. I tried to draw Leonardo's 'Leda', and it did not turn out so well. I placed it into the background of the page, together with some leaves. The face on the right is a freebie, as are other elements in the background. The head is one of 'my' heads. The sentiment is from Teresa
For Wen's Simply neutrals I made a collage:
Some more lace and embroidery:
And just to compare - the new railings and the lovely, old and rusty ones:
Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
What can I say but BRILLIANTLY FABULOUS.XX { aNNie}
ReplyDeleteI love how you added the art behind the window. It makes a really clever and unique page. I also love on your be beautiful page how there is so much detail in the space that makes up the head. Its such a feminine and nostalgic background, Hugs from me today!

I thought your Leda turned out well. I immediately recognized it. I also liked your neutral collage. It is beautiful. Your layers entry is truly lovely, and I really adore the way you placed the nude behind the window.
ReplyDeleteYou got me at rust, too. Beautiful photos on what looks like a rainy day.
Wunderschön sind beide Arbeiten Valerie! Auch Deine Neutralen finde ich spitze -

ReplyDeleteWhat a shame that the old railings have been replaced they look such a lot better than the new design.
ReplyDeleteGreat piece today with the wonderful use of your photograph and you own artwork.Love all of it and the ideas you have used to make it.

Your photo collage is absolutely beautiful, dear Valerie!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week.
Sending hugs,
Marie
Love the piece you created using the photo, a Fantastic idea. Shame about the rails, in years to come the new ones may age and be good to look at.

Hi Valerie. I love how you incorporate your own photos into such unique collages. I also love the lace and embroidery. I do like the old railing better, but it looks like it wasn't very safe, so I guess replacing it had merit. I would love to sit on one of those benches and ponder life for awhile. What a beautiful setting! Hugs, Sue
ReplyDeleteWow, amazing job with that collage, I love the image you built for behind the window!! Beautiful photos too, this is one of my favourite spots you walk to, that path along the river is just so gorgeous, even when it's raining. have a great day. hugs :)
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful work, such class and elegance, a wonder for the eyes!
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed your collage and photos Valerie! Your work is amazing and very interesting. Evokes thought and shares beauty. Thank you~ Karen O
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed that you could remove the reflections from the glass.
ReplyDeleteYour face art is very beautiful, I like the flowers, you've given it such a beautiful surface.
Your neutral collage has so much of interest and these collages would make an unusual series of cards.
Like Chrissie, I prefer the old railings, I think you would have been able to sit and watch the river more easily through the old ones. I suppose we can't have people falling in all the time.
Lots of wonderful inspiration here, thanks, Valerie.
Nobody ever fell in!
DeleteYour work on the challenges is exceptional. Your digital skills are amazing.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is WOW! Everything is beautiful I would love to have your digital skills.....might be something I'll look into...;))

Welch tolle Idee, die Scheiben aus deinem Fensterfoto heraus zunehmen, so hast du ein sehr interessantes neues Bild geschaffen, auch die Stuckverzierung darüber passt wunderbar dazu! LG Ulrike
ReplyDeleteThe idea of creative reflections in actual windows is really appealing and highly effective.
ReplyDeleteWith lace and riverside walks you have my complete attention
Really like your piece today Valerie - I haven't a clue how you did it but it's fab! xx
ReplyDeleteYour blog is such a feast for the eyes, Valerie. I hardly know where to start in commenting. Both of your pages are gorgeous, but I really love the vintage lady. I'm so glad you are getting use out of my sentiment.
ReplyDeleteYou are very clever to be able to alter photos so well digitally. Your lace and embroidery collage and photos are splendid. Lace and pearls always make my heart skip a beat.
Hugs,
Teresa

Hello Valerie, Your photo collage is excellent. And the new railings will probably save children's lives, so don't despair, it's the view that counts :) It's a matter of focusing past them, I guess. Wonderful digital artworks.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jesse
Fantastic artwork Valerie - your 99 faces has so much depth and texture.
ReplyDeleteAll that money on the new railings - but the original looks fine still - just more gaps.
Love your collage and all that beautiful lace and embroidery - the hours and patience that must have taken someone to do - wonderful!
