Hi Everybody!
Hope your weekend is going well.
We had strange weather here today, warm and humid, very unusual for November!
Today Susi and I are beginning a new, private challenge - 99 faces.
Susi finished her 49th face for the other challenge yesterday, so now we are starting again. If you think we are a bit crazy - well, could be, but it's fun!
For my first 'new' face I have made a hybrid/mixed media page in A3. The background is a collage which I scanned. The face and the profile are my drawings, the nude is a water-colour sketch I made in the 90s, and the starling is one of my balcony visitors. The nude is sitting on one of the columns from the basilica. The script in the background is one of my old family documents. The clock-hands, butterfly, an overlay and the 5 were added digitally, and were freebies. I printed it out, and fitted it into my painted page, for which I used titan buff, green-gold and ocker, all from Decoart. I used various stencils to pull it all together. The quote on the page, 'To everything there is a season.....' is from Ecclesiastes 3:1
It is also meant for Art Journal Journey, inspired by autumn colours, and
Kim's Show your face
The photos today were all taken on the road where I live. I just looked for rusty bits and bobs, and found them:
And the rusty leaves fit to the rusty parts:
Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Lovely page for the challenges, great idea to do those rusty bits.
ReplyDelete99 faces? Wow, you are really challenging yourself this time. Very cool rusty bits in your photos and cool face #1. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Wonderful page, you have put in so much and it still looks so serene and beautiful, just great. Love the photos, too, lovely rust! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteFirst, I want to comment on your rust. I have a THING for rust, so of course, I'm in love with your photos. Even the rust colored leaves are beautiful in their own right.
ReplyDeleteNow back to the other art. One year during AEDM I started with that phrase, and every day after that I added something like "a time to . . . " Every time I see the verse, it makes me smile. Of course, I never created anything, NOT ANYTHING as beautiful as this piece you did today.
I applaud you on your latest challenge and am very impressed you and Susi have taken this to a new level. Have a remarkable Sunday.
Not crazy LOL, you gotta enjoy what you make and you and Susi have fun...looks awesome as do the photos.x { aNNie}

Wow, Valerie! This is such a beautiful Autumn post! I love the rusty images of the season and your page is fabulous! The colours are great and it really combines portrait and life drawing in a quite stunning way! Love it! xx
ReplyDeleteThe page with a face is stunning Valerie with a lot going on to think about. Great idea for the two of your to challenge each other with the faces it definitely inspires others like me to have a go at faces.
ReplyDeleteFantastic photographs with the metal pieces you found. I am a big fan of this sort of thing and especially drain and manhole covers. I know I should get a proper life but I am easily pleased.
I hope your day is going well. We went for a early walk as the sun was making a rare appearance. Just got back before the heavens opened and it hasn't stopped raining since.
Love Chrissie xx
What a gorgeous work of art today Valerie! I love the deign and colours, and your shading on the faces is incredible, I actually thought they were lifted up on pop dots!! hugs :)

Great challenge Ida with you and Susi. Like you bi-seated face on her page. Wonderful warm Autumn colors everywhere here today. In your piece and in the building shots. Xox
ReplyDeleteGood morning Valerie. Time for more beautiful faces! Your page today is marvelous and I like the rust photos shot from different positions. It appears the square piece with the long rod is to reinforce the brick wall. I hate to see the beautiful fall leaves disappear as it gets colder. Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteHug,

And another great piece is born!!!! You make it look so easy and real ♥ Love the photos and all of the rust... when did this love affair with rust start? When I was younger no one liked rust at all . It represented age and decay now the whole world seems to be in love with rust :)
ReplyDeleteAge and decay seem to be my themes just now!

What an amazingly painted picture, it seems to glow from beneath and the frame with the stencils is the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteThe iron pieces are fabulous, great photos - and then the beauty of the leaves.
Valerie, this page is absolutely glorious. I love all of the golden light. The face and the nude are altogether lovely.
