This and that for the weekend

Hi Everybody!

Here's wishing us all a happy and relaxing weekend!

Today I have another piece for Erika's 'It's on the calendar' challenge at AJJ:

And a mix of photos/thinkies/funnies:

Taken from my window/balcony:

On my window ledge:

This isn't mine, but I would love it:

And the last one is a drawing I made from my dear dog Struppi, back in the early 1980s, time flies:

Have a great weekend, take care,
And thanks a lot for coming by!

  3. Hi Valerie- Thanks for latest calendar page at AJJ. Oh butterflies. I can't wait until it is butterfly season again. and you have some good funnies today, and I also like those little birds you have. Did the one with the hat comes with the hat or did you (or someone) knit it especially for the bird. We're in the deep freeze this weekend so a hat is a definite accessory. Have a lovely relaxing weekend. hugs-Erika

    1. Hi Erika, It's so cold and icy here, I will also be happy when spring, flowers, bees and 🦋 🦋 butterflies are back with us. The birds with hats had them all the time, I friend used to buy me one each year for Christmas. I gave some away as I don't have so muc h place, but I love them and have them out all year! I had a good walk this morning, but tomorrow will be another rest day. Enjoy your weekend, hugs!

  20. I am late coming to the party this weekend, Valerie, but yesterday I was occupied all day with a nature walk for students at the University of Waterloo. And very successful it was too. Seventeen eager young men and women took part. We had snow and cold temperatures to contend with, but no lizards! It was a lesson in winter survival to see how birds cope with winter, and it was impressive enough to convince everyone that kvetching about the cold when encased in your down jacket with an insulated toque on your head was hardly appropriate. There were many interesting discussions and these young people are desparately concerned about the degraded planet and the fact that interconnected mechanisms and breaking down. They are also terrified that current conflicts in the world may spiral into a nuclear war to spell the end of their short lives. We have found so many ways to mess things up yet still we press on the find more. The limits of our stupidity and callous disregard for our children knows no bounds. Hugs and kisses- David

    1. Glad you were able to get out and about with those wonderful young people. We need youngsters like that to stand up and save the planet! I get panic everytime I see the news - death and destruction wherever you look, and some people haven't yet understood how endangered our planet is.
On the positive side my balcony is now a bird bistro, I've never had so many visitors in other years. The new suet balls seem to taste good! Have a great afternoon, David, hopefully with some nic e food other than suet balls! I had minestrone soup, with lots of veggies in it, made by a friend, delicious! BIG hugs, Valerie xxxxxxx

  21. I absolutely LOVE your calendar page. If only I were that inventive and talented. I know Erika must love it, too. Thanks for sharing it with us at AJJ.

Several of the funnies were great. I loved the carpe diem lady and the sofa. But most of all, I enjoyed seeing your drawing of your dog.

  25. Such a pretty page for Erika's theme at AJJ. I do like the way you have set this out with the butterfly and calendar on the block coloured background. The subtle use of the blues and pink make the perfect foil for the butterfly and decorative natural pieces.
Some absolutely great photos and funnies as always. As always it is a delight to scroll back and look through them time and time again to make sure you haven't missed anything.
    Hope you are well
    Hugs, Neet xx
