Hi Everybody!
Thanks God it's Friday! Why? Why not!?
I made this face this week, and showed it a couple of days ago, but now it is finished:
The view from my window this week:
This is a butterfly face, I'm sure they have faces....
I used my old water colours. These are from Winsor and Newton, I have had them for about 20 years:
And these are Schminke colours which I had when I went to school, and before that my big sister had used them, so they must have been bought at the end of the 1940s The round pans aren't made anymore, so I have to buy the little square ones when I need new ones:
The cat was also made some years back:
A journal page:
These figures are all printed from lino cuts I made:
Another cat:
And an owl:
These faces are large, a bit larger than a real face:
I love these chirpy birds:
And the last 2 are just painted faces:

Have a great weekend, take care,
And thanks a lot for coming by!
Your artwork is exquisite and uplifting and really a joy to look at! It's amazing how long the watercolor paints have lasted. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judee! I have bought some new colours, that was necessary! Hugs!
DeleteGorgeous art Valerie and those are treasured paints you have. Beautiful skies. -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, happy Friday!
DeleteWow, her eyes really pop now.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to see the old, round Schminke paints. You can buy round pan sets here still, but they are the chalk filled, cheap children's play sets, not good quality ones. Enjoy your weekend, Hugs, Deb
Thanks Deb. Those cheap paints are okay for kids, the good quality ones are much better! Hugs!
DeleteHi Val, good morning!. Hope you slept well! I was up early, the cleaning lady was here, and together we got the whole house done. Now I am enjoying a nice cup of tea.... have a great day, hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, Sarah, hugs!
DeleteI love your lino cuts. I have carved stamps from rubber pads so I appreciate the work that went into those.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gene, it is a lot of work indeed, but great fun! Hugs!
DeleteMalowanie akwarelami jest wspaniałą zabawą. Bardzo podobają mi się twoje prace, oczywiście koty są śliczne:) Dobrego weekendu życzę:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lucyna, it is really fun! And cats are always beautiful! Hugs!
DeleteBeautiful faces and paintings, everything looks just amazing! Have a great Friday and an even better weekend as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Carol, you have a great weekend, too! Hapy Friday, hugs!
DeleteAmazing work, Valerie, but this morning I am pressed for time, so no lengthy comment today. I have two or three things I have to take care of and then right after lunch I need to leave for a three-hour drive (plus or minus depending on traffic) to Cobourg where I will be discoursing on owls to an eager group who are no doubt filled with excitement as we speak! I’ll do better next time! Hugs and kisses - David
ReplyDeleteThanks David, kind of you to comment when you have so little time. Have a wonderful and owlish time! Take care, hugs! xxxxxxx
Delete...I love the cat! Have a wonderful weekend, Valerie.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom, hugs!
DeleteI like studying faces to see what people do to make them less flat, and I can definitely see the 2 tones you used on that pretty autumn lady. Thanks for the tip Valerie. :) And I think your new faces are really lovely too. And of course all the other faces are great too. It's fun to see some again and see new ones too. I hope this week hasn't been as exhausting as last week. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThis week has been VERY exhausting, tomorrow I am going to stay in bed and just eat, drink and read - does that sound good? I love making faces! Have a great day, hugs

ReplyDeleteThanks Angela. I can't do linocuts any more, my fingers don't work these days, but I loved making them all! Hugs!
DeleteIt's a Broadway Show of Art! Nice addition of the leaves and face work to your latest, and I love all the rest, the carved linos especially. Hope your weekend's got some wonderful in it, xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks Aimeslee, I had fun making it all. I'm having a quiet weekend, painting, reading and beng lazy - yessssssssss! Hugs
DeleteSo many interesting faces, Valerie! I love the leaves in the red hair of the first face - you could call her Autumn. But your linocut prints are what amazes me the most. They are gorgeous! Many many years ago I did some linocuts (I think I was still in school where I learned that), but they weren't half as beautiful as yours. I still remember those round pans of watercolor - maybe I still have them somewhere. I need to look.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post, with lots to see and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
