Hi Everybody!
This evening we will be starting a new challenge at Tag Tuesday and this time I'm hosting, and have chosen the theme of recycle and re-use. Thanks to Wendy, who hosted the last challenge, and to all who linked up their beautiful tags. I know that most crafters have lots of scraps to use up, off-cuts of card and paper, things we started and never finished and large amounts of things which are 'too good to throw away because it might come in useful one day'! The challenge goes live at 9 p.m. this evening.
My tag was made from an Amazon cardboard envelope, which I die cut and then partly peeled. I rubbed some gold paint into the cracks, and unfortunately also into my black shirt....I glued a scrap of black netting behind ms TH lady. The ribbon was a bow on a chocolate Easter bunny many moons ago. I sewed around the edges and that was it:
Great new theme you came up with! Lovely tags. I like what you did with the cardboard. Fun memes.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine! Have a great week!
DeleteI love you new tag challenge Valerie, and not only the tag you made but also how you used it on that page for AJJ. I especially like the cardboard texture and the stitching on the journal page. And I love the abortion cartoon. I am upset with what is happening here in Texas, and this cartoon is so true. Those tall teacups are great also. They are colorful and really clever too. I hope your week starts off well and you have a happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika. I was shocked when I heard of the new laws in Texas. Back to the middle ages! You have a good, new week, too! Hugs!
Deletethe tags challenge seems like fun.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Thanks Dora, have a great week!
DeleteTerrific tag ~ Loving the repurposed cardboard and wallpaper :) The funnies were much appreciated too! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen, have a wonderful week!
DeleteYour collage came out very pretty.
ReplyDeletebest… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thanks Mae!
DeleteA tag within a tag. So much to look at. The lady is so elegant, but I really love the bee wings as hands of the clock. Good jokes. The little piggy is so cute, and I would love that gnome in the Zensical garden. Happy T Tday
ReplyDeleteThanks CJ, have a great week!
DeleteThe journal page is beautifully done. Love the pretty drinking mugs especially those on the top row. That is a cute little piggy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, have a great day!
DeleteOH wow, Valerie - this is just a gorgeous page and tag! I have to make my first tag next week and I can only hope to make one half this beautiful! I love the photos from your town, especially the mugs from England! xx
ReplyDeleteTags are fun to make, you will make a great one, I'm sure. Have a great week!
DeleteHi Val, good morning! Love your fantastic art and how you incorporated the tag into the Journal page, a great example of re- using! Have a great day and take care, hugs from us all, Sarah
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah, take care, hugs to all!
DeleteYou KNOW I'll have to join this latest tag challenge. I am a HUGE fan of recycling and reusing. This is a beauty. I just hope you got the gold paint out of your black shirt.
ReplyDeleteThat was bold of you to place the tag on the journal page. You were incredibly lucky to get those wonderful wallpaper pads. You used a lot of great ephemera, too. It's a really great page for Wendy's theme at AJJ and a good way to recycle your tag at the same time.
Let me think. I suspect you MIGHT prefer coffee, or even cappuccino (BIG GRIN). Seriously, I love the cat mug and the teeth mug. thanks for these wonderful mugs and your drink, as well as your art and photos you shared with us for T this Tuesday.
The abortion joke hits a bit close to home after the Supreme Court refused to rule against the insane new abortion laws that are now mandated in Texas. It's back to 1942, where old white men can determine what is best for our bodies. It's a shame they can make abortion illegal, but can't eliminate illegal firearms.
Thanks Elizabeth. I thought you would like this challenge! My black shirt now has a gold spot, so it's been relegated to home wear! How did you ever guess that I like coffee, wow! That's deduction for you! I was very shocked when I saw the news about making abortions criminal in the news, it's like back to the middle ages. Have a great day!
DeleteIt is a fantastic tag to recycle and so is the new page that you created using it.
ReplyDeleteI loved the photos and the posters with the quotes, my favourite has to be the grumpy cat although I would prefer tea in the cup.
Take care of yourself.
Yvonne xx
Thanks Yvonne, recycling is fun. The grumpy cat is really fun, I'm sure other cats prefer tea. My cat used to like camomile tea, luke warm in a little dish! Have a great day!
DeleteA brilliant idea to combine the two themes, love them both. Great use of the scraps and cardboard. Love the sayings, especially the septic tank lorry and the cat and coffee. Hope you are feeling OK, take it easy.
ReplyDeleteHugs Wendy
Thanks Wendy, I love Recycling. Yes, the septic tank truck quote is so true!
DeleteI love the way her hat stands out. The world needs more hats :)
ReplyDeleteThat bracing... I agree it is ugly. Surely that's a temporary brace and a more attractive permanent solution will be found.
Love the multitasking quote lol
I love hats! I hope the town will find a better solution!
DeleteHi Val, Bill here. Beautiful Art, Love the funnies!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill, have a great week!
DeleteYou obviously have fun creating art, because it shows. Coffee is your favorite drink, but it has too much caffeine for me. I drink black tea. Yes, it is sacrilege. Haha.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I come from a family of absolute tea drinkers, but never liked tea!
DeleteI love everything in here! Your tag is beautiful. And the meme about how taking one day at a time but sometimes having more than one gang up on you is pretty brilliant! Great funnies!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanie! Glad you like the funnies! Have a great week!
DeleteI love this woman art and this with grumpy coffee cat ^^
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy! Coffee is always good!
DeleteAs always, your work is delightful. It's nice to look at the photos and the dwarf is funny. Have a nice week:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lucyna! Have a great week!
DeleteWhat a great tag Valerie, I love how you used old packaging for the background and love all your elements and design..great photos, that little pig is so very cute..
ReplyDeleteLuv CHRISSYxx
Thanks Chrissy! Yes that piglet is adorable!
DeleteWOW Valerie, what a beautiful tag and I love how you added it to your page, the sewing and textures are gorgeous! That little pig is so cute!! Have a great week ahead and take care.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Tammy
Thanks Tammy! That little pig is really a cutie. Have a great week, stay safe!
DeleteA beautiful tag and it looks fantastic on the page. How lucky you are to get those wallpaper books I bet they make terrific pages, they are often just what I would call a perfect weight for collage.
ReplyDeleteLove the various elements you have put onto the tag, especially the pop of colour with the flower and I just love that clock.
Fab funnies, I do love the grumpy cat and the little pig but also the array of beakers in the shop window. You do show us some great photos.
Hope you are feeling a bit better for your rest yesterday Valerie.
Take care, Hugs, Neet xx
Thanks Neet, I was indeed lucky to get those lovely wallpaper books. I am resting plenty, and enjoying more reading time! Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
DeleteWhat a beautiful looking tag.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the photographs, I do agree with you about the way they have strengthened the wall!
Have a good week.
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan, have a great week!
DeleteGood evening Valerie: Your tag is stunning and the fact that it is made from odds and ends that might have found their way to the landfill makes it even more special. I hope that you were able to get the gold paint out of your black shirt. If not, my solution would be to add more, and convince everyone that it was intentional. You may create a whole new fashion statement. Your pictures from your little town reveal how delightful it is, but I have to agree that the solution to reinforce the wall is quite ugly. That urban engineer should be retested and get a failing grade! We drove from Waterloo to Montmagny, Québec today, and for a good part of the time under conditions of really heavy rainfall. Driving was not fun! Take good care. Hugs and kisses. David.
ReplyDeleteHi David, sorry you had such bad driving conditions. It's good to use things again where possible, why buy new? My black Shirt will match my Jeans, which also have lots of colourful spots! Drive safely, have a great day! Hugs to you both!
Deletefab new Tag Tuesday challenge, and I love your first entry!!
ReplyDeleteWhat's not to love about wallpaper books:)
The funnies made me smile for sure, and a pleasure to see the town and the special cups made in England. happy T day!
Thanks Linda, happy T day! Take care!
DeleteLovely recycling on that tag, Valerie, and it looks great on your vintage journal page. Great details. Love your coffee picture, all the coffee signs and your pictures. That wall strengthening isn't lovely but looks effective. Happy T-day! Hugz
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, happy T Day, have a great week!
DeleteI love the new theme you came up with and what you did with it. I'm tempted to play along. Darn, I just used a lot of old stuff in my art journal. But there is still more, I shouldn't run out anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteI always love the photos from your walks. Gosh, who did that re-enforcement of the wall? That is truly ugly. Those people probably never walk there. Cute garden gnome - so German!
Thanks Carola, hope you play along at TT, that would be great. Everybody here is up in rms because of what they have done to the old wall!
DeleteBeautiful tag out of cardboard. It makes a great background!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea day,
Kate
Thanks Kate, have a great week!
DeleteGreat post with so much inspiration. Love it beautiful art and photos. And some of those funny bits, lol, but true…now off to multitask And screw a few things up.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm a natural Talent in screwing things up!
DeleteThanks for the smiles! Your recycled tag is fabulous and looks amazing on the page that you created - love it 😀. How lovely to spend time at the café and I always enjoy walking and seeing the Rhine with you! Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo, happy T Day!
DeleteWOW so much here. I do love that lady collage.
ReplyDeleteGreat theme for this month, Valerie. I love your beautiful detailed tag.
ReplyDeleteLove the truck filled with political promises. LOL Lovely post for t day. Happy t day.
I'm sorry I'm late again in commenting. Tuesday is a day we usually are away from home and as Blogger doesn't like iPhones or iPads, I cannot do anything until I get back home to my desktop. Sometimes this is quite late, so here I am on Wednesday...
ReplyDeleteYour tag is great and the journal page you consequently created is lovely too. I do think the theme is a good one and will be like by many people. Everyone has scraps and just-in-case bits lying about. (I have).
I loved your funnies and memes. So true. And I always enjoy the photos of your walk in the neighborhood. I feel I could almost find my way around your part of town as I am so familiar with it. It is fun to watch the window displays in the shops change with the season and the flowers and trees along the street are always interesting. No doubt your walks along the river are the most spectacular and soon the autumn colours will appear.
I hope you are doing OK healthwise. You didn'tmention anything, so I hope in this case no news is good news.
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
Thanks Lisca, don't worry about being late! I am trying again to use up my scraps, they seem to multiply over night! Our little town is so tiny you would surely find your way. I wrote about health problems here: https://bastelmania-craftattack.blogspot.com/2021/09/weekend-post.html if you are interested. I am really not feeling good just now. Have a good and safe week, hugs!
DeleteBrilliant art and lovely post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole, have a great week!
DeleteI'm always the latest! never mind, I'm here now (I forgot to link!)Those tags are amazing! I'd love to have ago, but then I think, no, not just yet! I love that little pigglet with his little tongue sticking out! And those cups and mugs. I sometimes hunt them out in charity shops, you can get the very expensive ones for pennies! Thank you for your visit! Happy T day and the rest of the week too!
ReplyDeleteBetter late to the party than never! Tags are easy to make! That piglet is a sweetie, huh? Most of my mugs come from the charity shops, good and cheap! Have a great week!
DeleteOh I love your journal page, beautifully done! I have so many of these Amazon containers, I could wallpaper a room - maybe I should just throw them out! Some great funnies too - I love the political promises lol. Take care, Sue xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue, Amazon makes it possible! Yes, political promoses, not worth anything!
DeleteA beautiful page and tag, and I love those memes! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Alison,have a great day!
DeleteWonderful Tags, I love those Tim Holtz people, I was disappointed though at my last packet, expecting a different selection, but ended up with exactly the same as before. Will have to be specific at what one I want the next time.Hope you are well.xx
ReplyDeleteLovely blog page, love the variations on subjects.
