Sunday Post

Hi Everybody!

Have a great Sunday, stay safe!

Today I am sharing another recycled tag for my challenge at Tag Tuesday. The background card was from another envelope. I gave it a smear of white gesso left over from another project and then added the scraps of vintage bookpaper. The sewing ephemera, which were stamped and fussy cut, were once on an old tag which was chewed by my neighbour's dog. The half rose was a leftover rub-on which I cut in half by mistake. The washi-tape was peeled off my kitchen table and re-used. Please don't ask why it was stuck onto my kitchen table....

Then I decided to magic the tag digitally onto a vintage journal page for Wendy's challenge at AJJ:

Some pictures taken from my balcony:

Changeable weather:

The pigeons sitting in their tree:

And some funnies:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. My word, Valerie, you have everything but the kitchen sink in this piece, or perhaps it is there and I didn't look closely enough. The mere fact that you implore us not to ask why the washi-tape was stuck to the kitchen table means of course that we have to ask! So do tell! While you are at it perhaps also explain to an ignoramus like me what washi-tape is. If I were a real guy I would answer that I use only duct tape, but I have barely a passing acquaintance with that! Today we visited the Bay of Fundy to witness the world's highest tides, a phenomenal experience. We were there for low tide and walked on the ocean floor for about an hour and a half and returned in the afternoon for high tide. This is a world class natural phenomenon and I was deeply moved by it. If I get a chance to do it again I will be there. The birding was great too, and I thought of you as we sat outside sipping coffee. It was right around twenty degrees and rhe coffee was great. It would have been right up your alley. Take care, stay well, keep crafting, impress the world with funky shoes, be happy, drink coffee. Hugs and kisses. David

    1. Hi David! Thanks for your fun comment! Washi tape is a Japanese ornamental tape, made today by many manufacturers. It's thin ad can be peeled off again. And I have NO idea why it was stuck onto my kitchen table and when, sorry! I have heard Rain and Louise praising Fundy Bay, and it must be an incredible place. How wonderful to walk over the ocean floor, what a fantastic experience. And glad that you had some good birding, too. And coffee outside as a bonus, wow. I had coffee and breakfast outside with a friend yesterday, and enjoyed it enormously. Have a great day, hugs to you both!

  2. Sewing tag is great. Looks like you have less leaves on your trees, than we have at my place in North Idaho.

  5. Happy Sunday Valerie. Did you manage to get the bird out of your house? I'm loving your tag with all the different textures and details, and it looks super on your finished journal page. The page itself looks great. And isn't it amazing how much work one bee does? Even more amazing that they all work together to make pounds of honey in the hive. I wish we could all work together better to be so successful. Another lesson from nature. Have a fantastic rest of your weekend. hugs-Erika

    1. Hi Erika! Yes I got the bird out by throwing a silk scarf over it so I could grab it without hurting it and then let it fly from the balcony. Yes, the bees are amazing, and we need to cherish them. So glad you have a hive to support them! Yes, it would be good if people would learn from them! Have a great Sunday, hugs!

  17. Did I just dream I left a comment yesterday, or have I really lost it? If nothing else, I can add something I didn't have yesterday and that is I won't ask about your washi tape on your kitchen table if you don't ask about my washi tape I found on the floor! Your tag is beautiful and so well done with the vintage sewing theme. It's really lovely and goes so well with the page you added it to for Wendy's theme at AJJ.

You had some lovely, lovely flowers and a really scary cloud photo. I loved the cat. Not one I can relate to, but hilarious. I sure hope I remember to post this comment, dear.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth! Washi tape seems to have a life of its own! Your cats don't go out? Have a great day!

    2. Bleubeard used to go out, but since Squiggles arrived, he prefers to stay inside. Squiggles has virgin paws. The only time he's outside is in his carrier going to the vet for his annual shots. I suspect your question was redundant, but I had to answer, anyway.

    3. My Kitty never went out either. We rescued her and her sister after they were thrown out of a car window. She never wanted to leave the safety of the house.

  19. You rally re-used the "ingredients" for your tag. I love that, it's such a great way of using "old" stuff. The tag turned out beautiful.

  20. What an absolutely fabulous tag that is. I. love the many fabric pieces you have uksed, that tailors dummy looks great and I think the little pincushion with the pins stuck in is an ingenious idea. The use of that rose (half) is perfect, it gives that pop of colour that draws you into the whole story.
Of course, then you added it to a page and the choice of the ifvy and the bird looks perfect alongside.
    A fabulous page Valerie.

    1. Thanks Neet, glad you like the pin-cushion, pushing the pins into the canvas was the hardest thing when making the tag! Have a great day, hugs.

  21. The purple flower is stunning! The tag you made is gorgeous. I like that you were able to successfully collage so many different elements to it. The addition of pins in the pincushion is brilliant!
