T stands for a trees and a Trip to Holland for BreakfasT

Hi Everybody!

It's the last day of September and the first day of the Jewish New Year,
so I would like to wish a  good one to all of my Jewish friends and readers.

Joan's tree challenge at Tag Tuesday runs for another week, so you have plenty of time to join in! I have a quick digital tag today, using elements from Serif , Mischief Circus and me  :

And today is time for Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so here a warm welcome to all of the lovely ladies of the T Gang who visit here.

Coffee and peppermint tea here in Kaiserswerth:

Nathalie trying to look stern:

And some pics from our trip to Eindhoven (Holland) last weekend:

We were hungry and thirsty when we arrived so we went for breakfast. As you can see, the portions were HUGE, and we ate it all up! This is Nathalie's:

This is mine - an Uitsmijter, and it was very delicious:

We did some sight seeing and shopping there, and had a fun day. Here some photos:

We looked into this beautiful cafe when we arrived, but they hadn't yet started service, so we went back later in the afternoon for some more coffee and drinks:

There was a piece of wonderful, home-made, soft chocolate fudge served with the coffee - needless to say, it did not survive long enough for a photo!

St Catherine's Church spires:

We went into a HUGE shop, I think the biggest I have ever been into. And the people working there - and in all the places we visited - were really friendly, not like in some of the shops in snooty Düsseldorf:

I bought myself one of those huge, grey sweaters - very cosy, and will be great to snuggle into when the days get colder:

We also visited this huge place with rather strange architecture, and there was a textile market going on inside - an eldorado for anyone who likes sewing, with materials from all over the world:

And this sign was in another shop we visited, I will show the pics another day!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  2. Good morning Val! Hope all is well with you. We are still at Mum's and will be driving back this afternoon. You and N had a great time in Holland, those shops are so totally cool, wow! Love the tag, and thanks for the greetings. We had a great family dinner yesterday evening, and I was up half of the night clearing up! Have a great week, hugs, Sarah

"Lie to yourself anyway" :-) Good one.
Dir noch einen schönen Tag (stürmisch hier...)

  5. Hello Val! I am glad I found your blog. I love watching other places through other person's eyes. I've been to Holland twice and loved it. That breakfast would be enough for my lunch! I am small and one thing I remember well is that people in the streets there were very tall! I think I would have to shop at children section if I went to those stores you went! Who is the blond girl? Friend? Daughter? It looks you both had lots of fun. I loke to travel and visit new places. That's one the best thins to do. Plus eating well! Loved to look into your photos. Your tags are super but your journals really caught my attention!

    1. Thanks Belinha! Nathalie is a good friend. The breakfast was really enough for all day, so a good way not to need any more food, and we had plenty of energy. It is always wonderful to visit other places and see new things.

  9. How exciting to visit Holland. I love the photos and that breakfast looks great. I love the idea of salad. We had that in Japan which seemed so strange, but it is really is a good way to get you going. I hope you have some more photos for usof your trip. I love the tropical tag too. It is really chilly here this morning and a little bit of tropical feel would be nice. Happy early T day Valerie. Hugs-Erika

  17. Your tag is quite unique. I love the take on trees. The images look like they would jump off the tag. That was very well done, and the colors were great, too.

I am blown away by how easily you can travel from country to country. No wonder the EU was created. I can certainly see the advantages. Many of those stores were wonderful, but the architecture was what drew me in. I was also impressed by the flowers on the light poles. I'm sure you and Nathalie had a wonderful time. Those breakfasts were amazing. Yes, they would last me all day, too. I look forward to more photos from Holland.

Your cappuccinos look wonderful no matter where you are. The cold drinks never cease to amaze me that you get them in glass bottles, unlike in the states where you get fountain drinks. Thanks for sharing your incredible photos from Holland, your tag, and your drinks and meals with us for T this almost Tuesday.

  18. I just saw your comment on my T post and I agree. Beer is certainly NOT my thing, either. Nor is any alcohol. I'm not a prude, I just don't like the taste or how it makes me feel.

    1. Exactly! I feel bad when I drink beer or other alcoholic drinks, so I just leave them!

  21. You went to Holland! Great! Would you believe I have never been to Eindhoven. (Well to transfer from the train to a bus, but that doesn't count...). It looks like you and Nathalie had a good time. I have never seen such a big shop either. Probably because I would not go in shops like that. (I hate clothes shopping)
Those breakfasts look humongous! That certainly will set you up for a busy day shopping!
Did you go to Eindhoven on a day trip? I suppose it is close enough.
I enjoyed looking at the beautiful photos of Eindhoven. Keep them coming.
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
