Midweek post

Hi Everybody!

It's Wednesday already, the days are flying. We had autumn weather here today, cooler, windy  and with some much needed rain. The farmers are busy ploughing the fields, always followed by hundreds of gulls and crows, all looking for tid-bits. I always enjoy walking by the Rhine and through the fields.

Today I am sharing an A3 journal page from the folder of 'found and unfinished' pages. I'm still not really happy with it, but I like the quote I added, and the sewing. The background was gessoed, stamped and then brayered over with some pastel colours. The squares and circles were stamped and have some added Stickles. The dragonfly and other stamps are from Lawrence and Morgan.'Live' is a Sizzix die-cut. I have the same quote on my light box which keeps me company in my arty kitchen:

The day got off to a great start - I love watching the world around me wake up:

Autumn is definitely in the air:

Beautiful skies in the  afternoon:

A farmer's work is never done - and the freshly turned earth smelled so good:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. Beautiful art work Valerie, love the dragon fly. Autumn has really set in around you, it is great to see the change in the trees. Are there Ibis birds following that farmer?

  2. If that is what you wake up to, you live in a beautiful part of the world. I appreciate the use of dragonflies in your artwork. The more we focus on nature the better. Perhaps more people will begin to realize how much we have despoiled the environment and how much we need to urgently remediate.

    1. Thanks David. True, we have no more time, and need to be aware of what is around us and what we will lose if we don't change now.

  8. Hi Val, good morning! Love your page with the soft and gentle colours and dragonflies, so beautiful. Wonderful photos, too, I like how you walk about each day and keep a record of all you see around you, and share it with us. I wonder if it's scary for the farmer with all those birds coming so close?! Have a great day, hugs, Sarah

  9. It's amazing how many autumn signs are showing up, isn't it? It seems our leaves really started to turn in the last few days. It will be bare trees before we know it. And I do enjoy your piece today. More of those fun shapes! I like your light box too. It is nice to have a fun quote to inspire you. Have a super mid-week. Hugs-Erika

  14. You have great Autumn color going on there! For me "live in the moment" means accepting that "Autumnal" here just means more high temps in the 90sF. *sigh* I'm sure we'll get changes in the weather soon, but for now I'm enjoying summertime continuing lol

  16. You captured two of my favorites in your piece: dragonflies and Irises.
    Lovely photos as usual.
If you're done with that rain send some of it our way, please. I was gone for three days (no watering the garden) and came home to lots of wilted plants.

  17. What a beautiful journal page. I really love the background. And of course, I adore the sentiment, too. It's so appropriate, because we may not have a tomorrow if the world keeps going as it is now, both environmentally and politically.

Your photos are adorable. Nothing is changing here. It's still hot and humid. No leaves are changing yet, either. However, I love what you are sharing. The farmer on his tractor looks like it could be here in KS. And the gulls that run behind to eat the worms that have been turned over, shows what great soil you have where you live. Thanks for sharing these.

  23. Hello Val. I am enjoying your art and photos so much. I love nature more and more each day. I don't live in a very big city, but even so I kind of miss the fields. They are close, rice fields, quite beautiful by the way. I do liek animals also. To watch them. Now I'm into birds a lot...
