Hi Everybody!
Hope your day is going well. It's nearly weekend for all you working folks, so have a good one. As a pensioner I have weekend all year round, but I still look forward to the 'real' one - old habits die hard!
Today I am sharing a book made from one of the pieces I painted at Art Group. This is a long post even by my standards!
After painting the squares onto an A3 sheet with acrylics I outlined them with a black Edding and added some napkin transfers. Then I gave it a coat of clear varnish to seal it:
Here I have folded the part for the spine and sewed around it:
It wasn't standing straight here so I flattened it under some heavy tomes for a couple of weeks:
I added large eyelets to the spine using a hammer, this time without damaging myself:
I made 2 signatures and sewed them in:
Then I filled the book with tags:
Some are recent, some older, all needed a home:
I am giving this book of tags away, so if you would like a chance to win it, please say so in your comment. I will send anywhere in the world! I will announce the winner next Wednesday.
I am linking to Paint Party Friday
And a few photos from a recent visit to Südpark. There are a lot more but I need to sort them:
I always love to watch the goats:
Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Oh Wow!!! What a wonderful book and those gorgeous tags...sublime!!!
ReplyDeleteLoving those goats and flowers and all the beautiful photos, too!

Hugs xxx
Hi Val, another wonderful post. I know I say this every time, but it's still true! LOVE that fantastic book you made, and all the tags in it. I would love to own it, so please enter my name in the draw or the hat or whatever. Great that you showed how you made it, too. That's very kind of you to give us this chance. And the photos are wonderful again, Südpark is always beautiful at any time of the year. We will be away over the weekend, duty calls! Have a great one yourself, hugs, Sarah

ReplyDeleteAlso meant to say still can't right click and save photos, tried the yellow daisy field one.x
DeleteI am so sorry. I don't know what's happened. I downloaded an extension from Chrome which enables me to click on blogs with right-click locked. I just don't know why my right-click is locked!
DeleteYour latest handmade book to hold your tags is wonderful. The cover now looks like oil cloth, it's so shiny. I love the design, too. Reminds of a Mondrian. I should make something similar since I plan to make a few tags in the future and I have a ton of them I've never found a place for.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the ducks and the sheep. Beautiful photos. Speaking of photos, I saw Annie's comment, so I randomly right clicked on the duck. I can't get it to copy, either. Not that I want to, but it's definitely not copyable.
ReplyDeleteI am delighted with your works that are creative and beautifully made. The goat in the picture is beautiful. Have a nice day :)
Hi Valerie, first off I absolutely love your header! That's a beautiful duck taking a walk by the water :D)
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF today!
Wow, your book is marvellous. Such a lot of effort has gone into it. Its sturdy and colourful and beautifully constructed.
All those tags are gorgeous and would look perfect in it. Good luck to those who will enter, you're very generous in your give-away.
Gorgeous photos from the park - such a great place to visit.
You have yourself a very nice weekend... I'm like you, we can have weekends all week but it always feels nice when the real ones roll around ;D) xx
It is a fabulous book you have made anf used for those beautiful tags. I would love to be added when you pick out who will re-home this wonderful art.
ReplyDeleteAs always your photos look lovely and I have enjoyed seeing the countryside near your home.
The new header looks super with that wonderful duck.
Have a good weekend.
Yvonne xx
Thanks, good luck in the draw!
DeleteWhat a wonderful book and I'm so glad you came to no harm setting the eyelets. As to the tags, you had me at Cats. Wonderful close ups of the flowers and animals you meet on your walks. The duck in your banner going for a walk made me smile. I wonder what he'd photograph. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe duck would have taken a pic of me while I crouched on the path taking pics....
DeleteA beautiful book of tags Valerie!! Great idea to add a coat of varnish to the book covers! My tags are mostly in a plastic bin . I occasionally use them on cards or in a journal. How adorable are those goats...:) Wonderful out and about photos! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteWow, your book is beautiful. It was very interesting to see how you made the cover, and the tags, of course, are all terrific. I'd really love to own that treasure, but I'd better not ask to have my name thrown into the hat. Our house is FULL, and I'm desperately trying to weed some of it out while I'm still able.
ReplyDeleteTake care, and have a super weekend.
Woowww this book cover is Amazing Valerie !! The colours you have chosen arelovely and what can I say about your tags ? they are all Gorgeous, and yes, you can put my name in the hat, who knows... thank you so much for your generosity, this book is a great Treasure!
ReplyDeleteI love this goat and the duck is so cute. We have got some rain yesterday night, and I hope it continues today too, but rain, not flooding like in Valencia, Murcia... and in some parts of Almería too. Well, let´s see what happens.
I wish you a very nice weekend, and send big hugssss
Caty
