Hi Everybody!
It's Friday, so it's nearly weekend - enjoy!
I have another mixed media A3 collage. The background was painted with black gesso, into which I stamped to add some texture, and gave it a sprinkle of fairy dust. I was inspired by the postcard (Nude from Max Slevogt) which was a handout at the Kunstpalast last Sunday. I cut out the red frames and added some behind and some in front of the card. The text was added digitally:
The original card!
With the added quote:
Here are some more paintings from the Rubens room and gallery. Not all paintings are from him, some are from his contemporaries.
This one is by Rubens, and the sheer size of it nearly knocked me over:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Lovely art journal page. I particularly liked the close-up crop of the nude.
ReplyDeleteWell done! This really came out well (I am drawn to geometrics for sure). Thanks for sharing the Reubens photos. Where in the world did they put those canvases when they worked on them? That one is huge.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea, one painting was nearly 2o feet high!
DeleteLove your collage, great colours and very stylish. Thanks for sharing the museums photos, too. Have a fun day, hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteBeautiful how you used the card to make your artwork. And thanks for the trip to the museum. I enjoyed seeing all the fabulous art.
ReplyDeleteI really like your collage today ♥ Great use of the postcard. The paintings from the museum are great. I remember going to see a Monet exhibit many years ago and being blown away at the size of some them...along with the massive talent in the making of them. ♥
ReplyDeleteIch bin total begeistert davon. Die Fotos sind auch wieder super gelungen.
Liebe Grüße
Sabine
wonderful graphic collage art Valerie, and thanks for sharing all the beautiful art in the museum too! I can only imagine taking it all in in person. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteThe red square design is very strong. What a lovely trip you had to the museum too.
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF
Love your piece of Modern Art! Very contemporary. How wonderful you have a museum of this caliber so near. Enjoy! hugs, Donna
ReplyDeleteVery dramatic with the black and red. I do like the way you cut out the red frames, a clever idea and that is original how you have placed them.
ReplyDeleteTerrific ideas on the journal page and great to be able to use the postcard as part of it
ReplyDeletewow! To the painting and to your photographs that are as clear as if I was there standing in front of them. Thank you for sharing all the places you are visiting
Sleep well
Love Chrissie xx
What a lovely and dynamic painting you did! I love the photos too. For my little sketches, I'm using prismacolor col-erase colored pencils, I prefer the option to erase...
ReplyDeleteA fantastic page with the abstract squares and traditional style card.
ReplyDeleteThose paintings looked awesome, I often wonder what these old masters would think of modernist paintings if they were alive today.

beautiful page, and nice to see the Rubens pieces!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic AJJ page Valarie!
ReplyDeleteLove the old masters...the size of their paintings are really something to behold.
Toll hast Du gespielt mit der Kunstpostkarte! Und die Museumsbilder sind wahrlcih beeindruckend! Wow!
ReplyDeleteSchönen Samstag Valerie!

Fab post!
ReplyDeleteDid you change your banner this week or am I just noticing it? Either way, I LOVE it. Also loving the red squares, and what you're doing with the card. :)
ReplyDeleteI change my banner often, but thanks, I love this one, too!
DeleteSize did matter, especially back then in Rubens times. I was amazed by the size of some modern paintings e.g. Salvador Dali's The Persistence of Memory, on of my all time favs, but it is so small. Still gorgeous though.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, Valerie!
p.s. I love the looks of the red frames you cut out, great work.
DeleteI had no idea it was so small!
Deletei totally love this one, especially with the red squares, great collage, she has
ReplyDeletethe Kim Kardasian butt
Lucky girl!
DeleteOoohhh I love this black and red nude you created. It is very striking. The art is amazing and my favorite piece is of course the 4th one down. Thank you so much for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteYou saw some amazing art, and used that postcard in such creative way. I think when the post card was printed with the red square on it, it was just screaming for you to make this page. :) Sounds like all your museum trips were full of inspiration. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteGreat photos from the museum Valerie - especially the painting with the skull - very atmospheric and intriguing.
ReplyDeleteYour collage is very cheeky! - great use of that postcard - love it!

I'm busy playing catch up. Real life seems to have gotten in the way of computer time. I like your latest blog banner. It's a gem.
ReplyDeleteYour AJJ entry must have spoken to you back at the museum when you got the postcard. It is lovely, but you made it even better.
Those Rubens are incredible. Simply jaw dropping. Now I'm off to see what else I've missed. Have a great Sunday.
I love your quote on your art piece! Well done!
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing art pieces at the museum!!! Wow!
Big Hugs!
First, I love the new banner!
ReplyDeleteAnd oh, the Rubens! I would have been completely blown away in this room. His work is so beautiful -- I love the folds of the fabric -- and you're right about the sheer size of it. Takes my breath away.
Brilliant piece Valerie, I love your black and red and the squares are really striking. Fab photographs from the gallery too xx
