Tuesday Special

Hi Everybody!

There's a lot going on this Tuesday. We are starting a new challenge
at TIOT, it's Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, it's Tag Tuesday
and everyday's a good day for Art Journal Journey with Elizabeth's lovely theme of back to school.

At TIOT the new theme is sun, moon and stars.
Projects of all formats are allowed, and you have, as
always, two weeks to link your creations to us.
I made a hybrid piece, using some imagery from Mischief Circus. The quote is from the first chapter of the book of Genesis:

For Back to school I overlayed an image from Gecko Galz with a filter, which blended neatly with the hand-painted, coloured background and added some brightly coloured writing

Yesterday when I was in Neuss looking for traces of the old Romans and the people in the Middle Ages, I went to the Clemens-Sels-Museum, which not only houses some wonderful, modern art, but has a large collection of artifacts from the Stone Age, and of course from the Romans, who gave the town its name, 'Novesium', now Neuss. I enjoyed seeing their household articles, and some pieces would look perfectly right on a table today, which makes them right for Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday party - a big welcome to all the gang!

Mill-stones

Love these earthenware pieces:

And an extra funny face has smuggled itself into the centre of the photo here:

At this square in front of the old Town Hall I found a nice ice parlour:

The cappuccino was served in these beautiful cups.

I will be showing more photos from my outing bit by bit.
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  2. What an amazing post today, Valerie. I'm not sure whether to begin by thanking you for the lovely AJJ entry, or the T Stands for Tuesday entry.

Instead, I'll start with TioT's sun, moon, and stars. You created a lovely post, and I always enjoy your hybrid art.

I adore the Back to School entry. Those children are working hard learning something new. It's a wonderful entry with just the right amount of color against the black and white.

I can't believe how it seems the "ice parlors" are located around a fountain. It's uncanny, but I like it. I also like the lovely cup and saucer you were served it in.

The ancient Roman pieces are fascinating, and I really enjoyed that you shared them with us. I was also taken with the earthenware. Thanks for taking us to Neuss and the Clemens-Sels-Museum. I look forward to seeing more of this museum.

Hope your Tuesday goes well and thanks for joining T Stands for Tuesday today.

  14. Such a wonderful post, I don't know where to start. As usual your art amazes me. I couldn't pick a favorite if I had too, both are fantastic.

The museum artifacts were very interesting, makes one wonder how they lasted for so many years and how they made them by hand.......without todays technology. Pottery always catches my attention...*grin*

Your cappuccino cup looks like it should be in the museum too! Beautiful!

Happy T-day and thank for the comment.......I wish I could send you a corn dog.....I think you would like it.

  15. I love your sun/moon/stars. Those colors! And the style appeals to me. I can definitely picture that piece in a frame.

I'm struck by the cup and saucer, and I'd be delighted to be served coffee in it. I'm wondering if they sell them as souvenirs and am thinking they'd never be able to keep them in stock. Happy T Tuesday!

  23. Gorgeous Valerie!!
those pieces of pottery are amazing that they have survived all of this time! And I love how you managed to find a nice place for a cuppa!! I have a question, do all of the places always serve hot drinks in such fancy cups and saucers? Ours are always plain chipped old white! "(
