The two Fridas

Hi Everybody!

For Art Journal Journey, if music be the food of love,
I have some hybrid pieces using images of Frida Kahlo.
Frida has been stamped onto a painted and textured background. The birds, flowers and music were added digitally.

In this one I was once again playing around with lace....The background is a photo from Gill - thanks a lot! I changed the colour, placed Frida onto it and made her a lacy double as I was thinking about her painting 'The two Fridas'.

After the snow shower yesterday - the snow was gone by the time I went out!
Mrs B looks hungry, as always.

Down by the Rhine it was very misty today, with a fine drizzle which got me soaked very quickly:

The next posts will be scheduled, but I hope to be able to add something myself as soon as I am feeling up to it. I will get round to visiting you all again as soon as possible!

Have a good week, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by.

  1. Lovely Frida pieces, beautiful backgrounds. Misty weather you are having. It was suddenly springlike here today who knew.

  2. Goodness, I have SO much to catch up on. I hope you have a way to keep your camera dry, because that looked more like a downpour on the Rhine.

I was really impressed with the Two Fridas, mainly because of the lace you used. Completely unique and lovely.

Hope all goes well and you are quickly back on your feet (so to speak). I was telling Sally about how quickly you will be out of bed, and she said they must really do things differently in other countries. I said maybe it shows how lazy we Americans are! I'll be thinking about you.

  4. Love your Frida pages and especially the lace shadows, so unique. A little snow but fortunately it didn't last. BEST OF LUCK, Valerie, as you go to the hospital on Sunday. My prayers for you on Monday and all of the days until you are back at home and doing well.
    Hugs,

  9. Just love the Frida pages. The first one has the wonderful textured background and the second the lace effect which I think is wonderful.

Fantastic photographs and my favourite today is the boat in the mist which looks eerie against the sharpness of the foreground

Have a good day-I bet you will be busy

    Love Cahrissie xx

  10. Liebe Valerie,
