Tuesday Post - new challenge at Tag Tuesday and 2nd on the 2nd

Hi Everybody!

Today we are starting a new challenge at Tag Tuesday and this time the lovely and talented Wendy is our host. For her theme she has chosen 'windows, doors and arches'. She has made some fantastic and inspiring examples on our blog, hop over and have a look!  As always, you have 2 weeks to join us and tags of all formats are welcome. I made a tag which takes me back to picture books i my childhood:

Fot Chris's challenge at AJJ, all kinds of weather, I have a hybrid piece, put together out of a face painting and a photo of a bird on a branch with some added digital elements:

Today is also Elizabeth's 2nd on the 2nd, so I am sharing some posts from previous years. These were all made for the AJJ masculine/feminine challenge back in 2014:

Some photos:

And some funnies/ thinkies:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. That's an adorable tag for Tag Tuesday. I love the little waving gnome. He's cute. And your latest page for AJJ is so full of warm sunshine. It's a beauty. Your look back is great too. You have some wonderful masculine and feminine pieces. That is a good challenge idea too. I haven't heard of this one for quite some time. And your golden autumn photos are beautiful. This was a great post. I hope you are having a good new month. Hugs-Erika

  9. Your tag is so clever and playful. I like the almost childlike way you presented it. Of course, I love your autumn sunshine inspired journal page you gave us for Chris's theme at AJJ, too. Thanks for another wonderful entry.

What a great look back. That was a great theme at AJJ from years past. It was a great second look and I absolutely adore your beautiful paintings, as well as your ingenious collage art. Thanks for this wonderful second look on the 2nd, dear.

  10. Good morning Artiste Extraordinaire Valerie: I am filled with admiration and appreciation for all your art today, especially the mushroom house at the beginning. It looks so inviting, and that page would not look out of place as an illustration in the finest of children's books. Perhaps I will be developing an even greater love for it as I slide inexorably towards my second childhood and will be anxious to enter a world of fantasy and make believe - just like most of our politicians. As for the male/female challenge I am happy to see some decidedly feminine derrières there! I am old but I am not dead! A bird on a branch is also right up my alley too, as you know. So let's summarize this, I am presented with a beautiful woman, my bird friends to keep me company and a house in the woods. If a day can start much better than this, I am not quite sure how. As long as there is a coffee maker in the house! It is quite cold this morning - minus three - but clear skies and sun are forecast for our regular Tuesday walk. I say cold, but it's really not. Minus three in January will be a warm day. Take care, stay warm, drink coffee, each cinnamon raisin trees, walk sprightly and breathe deeply! Hugs and kisses. David

    1. HI David, Master of Birds and wanderings! Have a wonderful bird walk today. It's 8° here today, and that is VERY cold for me! Sometimes I like to make childish stuff, it's always fun to think back on simpler joys. And as you say, the 2nd childhood will be coming sooner or later. I'm going to behave really badly like a spoiled brat, I think that would be fun! Glad you like my paintings from long ago, and that your, err, feelings are still all there! I always enjoyed painting backsides! You have gien me the idea to go into the kitchen and see if my coffee maker is still working well, I test it regularly in the course of the day. Enjoy your walk, take lots of pics, and wrap up nice and warm! Hugs!

  20. Your opening image is just the happiest thing! I love it. I'm a real sucker for the kind of illustrative art that uses red and white mushrooms. I've loved it forever, even felt some for my tree. This makes me smile so big!

  22. Oh Valerie, I love the tag. How delightful is that! Imagine that scene painted on a child's bedroom wall - wouldn't it be a delight. As it is I think it is wonderful and to me it has a German influence which I love.
Great hybrid journal page for Chris' challenge on AJJ. I do like the lovely autumnal glow it has, so lovely and warm.
Fab photos as always, you really should make calendars from some of your work.

  25. There are so many interesting things in your post, Valerie, that it is hard to know where to begin! Your door tag is cheerful and welcoming. Your face with the bird has a warm and rich palette. I enjoyed your masculine and feminine challenge, but now I've got "We are stardust ..." stuck in my mind. Perhaps that's because I am reading Neil DeGrasse Tyson's "Astrophysics for People in a Hurry." I remember how full of shivers I was when I first realized we are literally stardust, born from the explosion of supernovas. That makes us very special! Thank you Woodstock and CSN&Y! Your colored maple leaves are breathtaking. I always enjoy your photos. John Lennon had it figured out at a young age. It's tragic that he was shot down. Have a good one, my friend!
