Hi Everybody!
Today we are starting a new challenge at AJJ and this time the lovely and very talented Tracey is hosting and her theme is
'my favourite colour is October'
The challenge runs for a month, and digital art is also welcomed. We are looking forward to seeing your journal pages and paintings, but please, no cards or tags!
I love the colours and feeling of autumn, so this is a wonderful theme for me. I made an A3 piece. The background was painted and textured with a patterned brayer. The falling leaves were cut from scraps of painted paper. The large leaves in the 'nest' were made from paper which was painted and then sprinkled with Utee gold and white. The bird was also worked on a piece of painted and glittered paper and then glued onto the page. Then I added some of my found feathers to the nest:
Paint Party Friday
and thanks a lot for coming by!
I love how everything you used in this first entry in October is either found or recycled. I am so impressed with the bird, the leaves, and the feathers. This is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed seeing your world in autumn in years past. The colors are so bold and beautiful, so red and vibrant. Even the fungi are amazing.
Thanks Elizabeth, glad you like it. I still have enormous amounts to recycle!
DeleteBeautiful autumn page and cutest little bird at the end there!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, that little robin had puffed his feathers up to keep warm! Have a great day!
DeleteSo happy to read you love my theme Valerie, it's a beautiful time of year and your page really shows that. Clever use of scraps and found objects, the sprinkle of gold UTEE is like the icing on the cake. Beautiful page. You've pictured stunning Autumnal changes. Really looking forward to sharing creative time with you all this this month.
ReplyDeleteHappy creative October Tracey xx
Thanks Tracey, especially for hosting! Have a fun month with your lovely theme! Hugs!
DeleteIt's a pleasure.. Happy PPF btw & have a great weekend x
DeleteThanks Tracey, you, too!
DeleteHi Val, good morning! Love the new theme, and I know it is one of your faves. It's cold but sunny here, so hope you have good weather, too. Take car, hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, it's cold here, too, but we just had a wonderful sunrise, so beautiful. Have a great day, take care!
DeleteI love how you recycled pieces and used the feathers on this fabulous page Valerie, its really inspiring for the new AJJ theme. All the photos of autumn looked beautiful as well.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
Yvonne xx
Thanks Yvonne, have a great weekend, take care!
DeleteGood morning Valerie: You may start off the day by awarding yourself extra merit points for this concentration of avian themes, with real feathers added for emphasis even! The black bird on your page looks absolutely delightful, and it goes without saying that the little robin will capture the hearts of all who see it. I can even remember its song in my head, and what a cheery sound that is. As you will note from my latest post my daughter and grandson came down to participate in my most recent walk, so I expect you will want to take part in the next one. There will be others this month, carrying on right until the end of December, so you will have many dates to choose from. You may stay at our house. Your pillow is fluffed, the chocolates wrapped in silver paper, which I am sure you will flatten out and save for future projects! One night I will make chicken stew to have at the end of a walk on a cool fall day. Maybe even a little Schnapps to round out the evening. Oh, and we can collect feathers too. Take care, drink coffee, eat pastries, drink coffee, repeat as required. Hugs and kisses. David
ReplyDeleteThanks David, your comments always cheer me up! Glad you liked all the avian touches added to please the Bird Pope of Canada and the Dominions! That sounds good to hop over and join you on a walk, I'll check the trams, I'm not sure which one goes to your place, but I'll let you know. And how did you know about smoothing out the chocolate papers? Have you been spying on me?! Chicken stew also sounds very good, but I'm not allowed alcohol because of my meds! Could you manage fish and chips one night? And perhaps an apple pie?! I found more feathers today, including a beautiful iridescent black one, perhaps from a crow. Have a great day, I'm off to my crafty kitchen to make more mayhem. Hug to you both!
DeleteLove that nest, Valerie!!! Cool bird, texture, background and leaves too. All works together to make a lovely October scene.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of October scenes, your pictures are so full of perfect Fall goodness. Is that cherries in one of the middle ones? Love it all and such a treat to see what your eyes see.
Hugz and happy Friday!
Thanks Nancy, glad you like it! The fruits on that bush are red-currants, I don't know if you have them over there? Enjoy this lovely season, take care, hugs!
DeleteIt's lovely to see all of your autumnal photographs and the lovely Journal page. I do like autumn for its colours, but not for the gathering of leaves on our lawns. Your age is lovely and I do like the addition of those small feathers in your nest.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend
Hugs, Neet xx
Thanks Neet. The kids were scrunching through the leaves along the Rhine today, I love them, too, but I don't have a graden which I need to clean up! Have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie
DeleteThis is a gorgeous page Valerie. October certainly means falling leaves. (At least where I live.) I love the texture those feathers create, and of course, you can't have feathers without an adorable bird. This is an amazing piece and perfect for Tracey's challenge. Happy new month my friend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika. The kids were playing in the leaves along the Rhine this morning, I would like to play, too! Have a great weekend, take care, hugs, Valerie

Of course all is better for it using up some of your bits and pieces! Great Autumn photos - those red leaves and Robin redbreast make the best colour match!
