Hi Everybody!
It's weekend, enjoy!
I'm planning on having a restful weekend, I need it!
Today I am sharing 2 art journaling pieces made during the LB taster lessons.
The first one is the 'Inside your head' journal spread inspired by Dyan Reavely, which I very much enjoyed. I used autumn colours, a picture from Dyan, lots of scraps and stenciled patterns and stamped the eyes. This was really fun!
I am also linking to Tracey's lovely challenge at AJJ
The second piece is a journal page inspired by a lesson from Shemi Dixon, the textures of me:
Once again, I used autumn colours, over a background which was stenciled with texture paste, with additions of corrugated card and scraps of cloth and netting. I added buttons, too, to give more texture. This was such fun to make, a real art-play session!
And some pictures of a beautiful sunrise, once again from Google reversed:
Some photos from Schloss Kalkum:
And some funnies:
Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Hi Valerie, I am loving your newest art, and also all of the photos especially the sky photos Happy weekend hugs
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy, you have a great weekend, too, take care! Hugs!
DeleteValerie these are beautiful pieces. I hope you get the rest you need.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole, I'm looking forward to putting my feet up and reading and watching some films!
DeleteLovely art and beautiful photos have a restful weekend Valerie, that first meme was so funny!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine. I loved that first meme, too, so funny! Have a great weekend, hugs!
DeleteYour pages are wonderful. The eyes, the colors, the textures. I can see how much fun you had creating them. It was fun to see the sun set courtesy of Google. The duck, goose, or bird and the angel are in the same pose. The bird just needs a horn. 🎃 Have restful weekend. Take care
ReplyDeleteThanks CJ, I really had fun here, these are the sort of things I love to do! Google is mighty - turns sunrise into sunset, too funny! The goose and the angel really have the same pose, but pity about the horn! Have a great weekend!
DeleteIf your happy make difference for others. I like that.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Thanks Dora, it's a good thought! Have a great weekend! Hugs!
DeleteSuper brilliant weekend post and colours, and most gorgeous designs and photos...oh and the funnies. . xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie, glad you liked the funnies. Have a great weekend, hugs to you and Bella!
DeleteLovely art pieces. Beautiful sunrises. Oh dear, sometimes I forget my passwords.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, I forget passwords, too! Have a great weekend!
DeleteHi Val, good morning! Hope you had a great sleep. I did, too, the kids tiptoed round and didn't wake me! Have a lovely day, we're off to my sister's. Hugs from all, Sarah
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, how sweet of the kids to let you sleep, they're all growing up! Have a great day at Leah's, hugs to all!
DeleteTwo great funnies there. Plus some lovely photos - I do like the sky one especially with the branches silhouetted against the golden sky. Lovely photos too from the Schloss - what beautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteNow to your artwork - So glad you enjoyed making that page with Dyan, it is full of inspirational pieces and Dyan is very good at forming pages to do with things in your head. Did you know she has the same birthday as me? Also lives about 40 minutes away from me. Unfortunately there have been no workshops with her, the shop is closed to visitors but she does do online as you obviously know. This pandemic has certainly changed the way we do things.
Your other page is lovely too, so vibrant with those gorgeous colours, you can tell you enjoyed making it.
Have a lovely weekend, Hugs, Neet xx
Yes, Dyan is a great teacher and a fun person, I enjoyed her lesson. How nice that you share the same birthday! I wanted to do some art today, but my fingers are playing up, so perhaps I'll just have a read today. Have a wonderful weekend, take care, hugs!
DeleteI bid thee greetings, Fair Lady Valerie of Balconia, and earnestly pray that all is well in thy realm. Much has been seen of thy crafts of late, and marvellous to the eye they are, with colour bursting from the paper and cardboard, gratifying to all who gaze upon them, wondrous in their form and execution, pleasing to the eye, enriching to the soul, a balm for a troubled world. Furthermore, thy walks that you have shared with us, are tranquil and beautiful, from trees to ducks, from the evocation of wind to cool, clear water. The world is blessed to receive thy contributions, and I beg you receive with pleasure the expression of my most humble and unworthy affection. I remain at your service. Sir David of Waterloo.
ReplyDeleteSir David, I greet thee with all due respect and thank thy exaltedness for these most timely and necessary kind words. I must unfortunately inform thee that my high and mightiness has problems with her scurvy fingers today, and cannot therefore reply to thy missal as would be fitting. But I wish thee a wonderful weekend with thy damsel Miriam, and remain, yours truly etc etc etc.....
DeleteI'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling 100% Valerie. I hope you get some rest and improve. And I am loving your 2 pieces of art. I missed out on this Taster (sadly), but I will know better next year because everyone seems to have made such fantastic art. Including you! I can tell you had fun on the Dyan Reavely page with your collage, and the other page has super texture. and what a beautiful, in reverse, sunrise. WE're in the clouds today, at least right now. And it is cooler. I hope you have some down time and a beautiful weekend Valerie. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika. It's a cold autumn day today, and started off with mist and frost. Yes, join in the taster sessions next time, they're fabulous. So, I'm off to my armchair to have a read! Hugs!

DeleteAbsolutely stunning and beautiful art you created today. I love the first one for its color and "eye" appeal. The second one caught my eye because of all that texture. Wonderful and fun to see both of these are perfect for Tracey's theme at Art Journal Journey, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome view of your reverse sunrise. It is fabulous, as are the photos of the architecture. Hope you are resting comfortably, dear.

All the best Jan
Thanks Jan, enjoy your Sunday!
DeleteI love this piece, Valerie! I love the bright colors and the messages embedded in the piece. The green-eyed girl is striking, and so is the repetition of her eye. I am fascinated by the textures in your work. They had depth and dimension to it. You have really expanded my vision of art. I enjoyed all of your photos. The angel images remind me of the Angel Moroni which I have seen on some magnificent temples. The cupcake funny is hysterical. I've felt like that many times. Have a happy and creative week! Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Louise. I had fun making these pages. The angel is a beautiful bronze on a little castle near here, so pretty. Have a great week, feel better soon!

DeleteLooks like two great classes there Valerie, Dyan is a fun teacher. Really like how your tucked those sentences into the bottom of the tag. The second piece is full of lush texture and beautiful layers, that gold really catches the light. I do hope you took tome to rest over the weekend, I should have been putting my own feet up after a little hospital procedure myself last week but needed to give my Son a hand as he moves into his new home soon.. I'm banking all these missed feet up days :)) xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracey. You need to take your feet up time! I love crafting, but make sure I rest in between. Stay well and safe, hugs!
