Midweek Post

 Hi Everybody!

Today I am sharing 2 pieces made during the LB taster sessions. This one is from Effi Wild's journal jam session. I was very disappointed with the tree as my lines are very wonky, had an achy-shaky day which makes things a bit difficult. But I got it done, and I like the moon and cat side better. After I had painted the background I gave both sides a coat of clear gesso onto which I sprinkled fairy dust. I am linking to Tracey's October colours challenge at AJJ:

This spread was made after the Intuitive abstract play session with Laura Dane. It was collaged and painted in several layers, and was messy fun to make. I had problems writing, but - it is as it is!

Some photos from my walks:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  6. I like the journal page with the cat. The image of the cave opening looks like a lip with dark coloured lipstick. Thanks for the hug and returning one big hug to you. Happy day.

  10. Don't be so hard on yourself with this tree, Valerie. I give it my vote for creativity ,texture and appeal. After all the trunks of trees are knotty and gnarly, filled with furrows, with insects probing every nook, cranny and cavity. They would find trees such as yours splendid refuges for all the stages of their lives. So, trees represented on paper with shaky hands are the best! This one even looks a little phantasmagoric, right in keeping with Halloween, so it is a winner on all counts. Award yourself ten out of ten, with a coloured star for extra merit. I shall be sending in my recommendation to the Balconia Art Institute so that they can fête and celebrate their most creative resident in ways not yet dreamed of. Thank goodness you are my pal! Hugs and kisses. David

    1. Thanks David! You are kind, but it's hard for me to accept that I can't draw a line any more, I hate being so shay. Some days are better than others, and I know I have to accept it and get on with things as it is, but it's not easy. Glad you think my tree will be a great refuge for all creatures who like to crawl into the woodwork. I hope you are having a great day with nice walks and lots of birds waiting for you as you make your way. Hugs to you and Miriam!

    2. Knowing that we have to accept it, and accepting it with equanimity, Valerie, are two different things. We all have to just do the best we can.

    3. David, you are so right! It's hard, but I will get there!

  11. I didn't even notice the tree as you captured my heart with the black cat page. I really love the dark blue you used that ties your pages together. Your photographs are absolutely stunning! Take care and have a good day

  12. I really like that tree. Funny how we always see the flaw in our own work and other's don't see it. The cat is great too. What a super spread. I also love the abstract piece with that texture. Very nice work my friend. And your photos are great, but the ones of just the leaves is really amazing with the reds and green. It almost looks like fabric. Hope your not as shaky today. I've been in a really bad hive breakout since my shots last week. Off to see what they say at the doctors. Ugh. Sometimes our bodies are so uncooperative aren't they? Hugs-Erika

    1. Thanks Erika. Do you think the shots made the hives worse? Uncooperative is a good word, I'm still very shaky, so I'm treating myself to a nap now! Take care, hugs! And good luck at the doctors!

  13. I can not see anything wrong with your tree. I do know what you mean about shaky hands though - thought it was just me and my age.
I have some clear Gesso but did not think of using it in this way - thank you so much Valerie for a great idea. It certainly works well on your page and I think the little black cat is a bit mesmerised with it.
Your Laura Dane piece is lovely too and the photographs, well, what can one say? They are beautiful, such rich colours in those leaves.
    Take care, Hugs, Neet xx

The tree is so cool and says rooted, I guess that's good.

  24. LOVE the cat. I want fairy dust! Seems there are lots of black cats showing up on blogs this week. I like your take on Wild's taster episode. I really LOVE your tree. I know you don't think so, but I think it's great. Thanks for another great entry for Tracey's theme at AJJ.

Dane's inspired page is great. It's one I thought I might actually be able to create. I loved your take on it. The colors are grand.

Autumn has definitely arrived in your area. The reds are simply STUNNING. Love the blaze of beauty in your photos.

    1. Thanks E. I love that fairy dust, it's the best glitter I ever had. The trees in Hofgarten are much more 'autumny' than here, perhaps it's dryer in the town. I love the colours!

  27. I'm so inspired by your own take on these LB Taster sessions Valerie, i'm looking forward to having some time to check out all these lessons. Now I love those wonky tree lines, bold and full of character just sad you had a shaky day whilst creating. The cat against the full moon is extremely striking. As you can see i'm walking backwards again post checking.. but it's a great start to an early weekend for me.
Take care and thanks for sharing @ AJJ Hugs Tracey xx
