Weekend Post

Hi Everybody!
It's weekend, enjoy!

Today I am sharing a colourful A3 mixed media piece. The background was painted over a brush- and brayer-wipe page, and I used cut-outs from magazines to collage it, plus a couple of heads from my stash - sounds brutal, doesn't it?! The wavy lines were cut from a piece of painted paper, and the sentiment was stenciled. I'm sure I don't need to tell you which song it's from! I am linking to Neet's type challenge at AJJ:

I made a mistake while doing the text, and had to paint over it. If you look carefully you can see it! But the unevenly spaced letters were meant to be so - not all types are straight types:

And I have another tag for Michele's blue and orange challenge at Tag Tuesday:

Some photos from the past week. We had lots of clouds and some blue skies:

And then very heavy rain again:

And raindrops on the flowers:

Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  4. That's a great song and a great page. You covered your mistake so well, I couldn't tell where you messed up. It was lovely. I love the waves, too. That is another incredible page you shared with us at Art Journal Journey using Neet's theme.

That's a lovely tag. It feels organic to me. I'm really starting to like these two colors together.

Wow, your sky and cloud shots are amazing. Some pretty scary clouds, too. Raindrops on the flowers made for great photography, too. Hope the weekend goes well for you, dear.

  7. All your head art journaling is pretty fun. You have quite the collection of head ‘types’. I hadn’t even noticed an error in the words. Well done fix.
I really like your new tag also. The background and flower share the limelight equally.
    Happy weekend to you!

  11. I could stare at your background for simply ages, it is lovely. I do like all the colours you have put into it.
I was going to say I like the face of the lady with the wimple but I think the donkey lady also is wearing one, just not a pointed one. Anyhow, I like both faces and I adore the yellow submarines. Did you draw those yourself? Impressive if you did.
Now, I could not see any sign of lettering that had been covered up, it looks just fine to me and I love it where it has a bit of movement rather than in a straight line. It's much more fun to see. Thanks so much for a fun page for my theme at AJJ reflecting the Beatles song - bet it was a bit crowded on that submarine with the donkey as well.
Great tag and photos - especially the ones with the raindrops on. Beautiful photography.
    Hugs, Neet xx

    1. Thanks Neet, glad you like the background. Those wimples always look good, but I'm not sure I want to start wearing one! The yellow submarines are cut-outs from a free page I got years ago. Perhaps the donkey lives next door to the submarine - in the song they sing that all their friends are on board and many more live next door! Must have been a fun gathering anyway! Have a great day, hugs!

  14. Good morning, Valerie: Who knew that decapitation was a routine part of the blogging experience? I will be sure never to be around you when you have a sharp knife in your hand! After all, not only do you use heads, you collect them. No doubt, this is my first ongoing relationship with a head hunter and I had best be careful! The results you have achieved are undeniably stunning, with an array of interesting images, filled with bright colours and a lovely background. I checked carefully, but I was unable to detect smears of blood, so that was reassuring. I looked intently and was also unable to find any sign of the lettering you had to cover over. The Yellow Submarine theme reminded me of a baby quilt Miriam made some years ago when the people requested a Yellow Submarine motif and the finished product was one of her best ever in my opinion. If the price had reflected all of the hours she put into it, to say nothing of the creative genius to design it, they would have needed to remortgage the house! The weekend is upon us Valerie, although it is little different from the rest of the week for those of us who are retired, but enjoy it anyway. Hugs and kisses. David

    1. Don't worry, dear David, I always use scissors and not sharp knives! Yes, I collect heads and other body parts, and always have a selection on hand, neatly tucked into various envelopes! The lettering I needed to repair because I wrote the word 'in' twice, so one in had to be taken out! I am sure Miriam's quilt was a delight, and I am sure such pieces are much more worth than they are sold for. Things made by hand are always beautiful. I would like to have seen that quilt! Yes, the weekend is upon us, and we've got a warm and sunny day, but don't worry, the next low pressure area is already on its way to provide us with wind, clouds and storms. The weather here is rarely boring! Enjoy your weekend, have fun, hugs to you both!

  15. What a brilliant idea putting classical heads on modern bodies. And the same goes for the whole idea of the yellow submarine. I am sure if there was a yellow submarine it would be a pretty unique place. It's almost like these ladies are having a party on it. And no, I saw a couple of spots where you could have fixed your type but I couldn't tell exactly. Nice fix. And pretty photos from your week. We actually had a nice week, but these last few days it has been unbearably hot. It is supposed to break today-hurrah. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs-Erika
