Hi Everybody!
Today we are starting a new challenge at TIOT -
🌺🌻 summer blooms 🌻🌺
As always, you have 2 weeks to join us and projects of all formats are allowed and welcome, including digital ones. Have a look at the great creations of my teamies on our blog!
I made a mixed media piece, 10 x 14". First I painted the flowers very loosely on black water colour paper, and cut them out when they were dry. I used the left over paint to brayer the background, which I mounted onto grey cardstock. I arranged the flowers along 2 sides, and collaged the lady in green in the middle. The title is also from a magazine and means 'Take courage'. I think the title is meant to encourage myself today, as I have an appointment by a neurologist for various tests. I will be round to visit your blogs later in the day when I get back! I am also linking to Neet's type challenge at AJJ:
Wow! Wow! Wow!
ReplyDeleteYour mixed media piece is WONDERFUL :)
I enjoyed all of your photographs too, beautiful blooms from the botanical gardens.
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan, glad you like it! Flowers are always so beautiful to see.
DeleteYour flowers sure look happy.

DeleteHi Val, good morning! Hope you slept well. LOVE your beautiful journal page. Have a great day, good luck at the doc's. Hugs from us all, Sarah
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah, you have a great day!
DeleteBeautiful journal pages , rather cleverly designed too. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie, have a great day! hugs!
DeleteFirst of all, Good Luck with the tests, hope all goes well for you.
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers you took photographs of at the Botanical Gardens, thanks for sharing, the sunflowers are magnificent.
Your page is beautiful. I have never seen black watercolour paper, I did not even know such a thing existed but what lovely flowers you have painted on it. Especially the close ups where we see the texture you have got. They really are lovely flowers and contrast so beautifully with the silkiness of what the lady is wearing.
A favourite technique of mine is to use a border across the short edge and down the long one as you have done. I think it adds so much to a picture.
Thanks for another super entry to my theme at Art Journal Journey.
Hugs, Neet xx
Hi Neet. Just got back from the doc's. I had no idea that you could get black watercolour paper, a friend bought it for me as a present, and I'm in love with it! Glad you liked my page! Have a great day, take care, hugs!

DeleteGorgeous page Valerie. I especially love those hand painted flowers. They are beautiful and make such an eye catching border on your page. Beautiful work. And all your flower photos are so inspiring too. It is time for me to visit to the botanical garden I think.Happy Tuesday. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika, glad you like the flowers. Botanical gardens are great, I like that everything is named and with lots of infos about the plants. When it stops raining I will go again, it must stop raining sooner or later!
DeleteHello Valerie: We got rained out and had to curtail our walk so I am back at home quite a bit earlier than I had expected to be. Your wildflowers are quite gorgeous, bright, bold, wonderful to behold. As for your message, I think we all need to take courage now and then. Life is not always kind, but we have to find a way to deal with what it serves up and make the best of it. Easier said than done, I know, and I suspect that you needed to gather your courage often these past months. I hope that the tests with the neurologist went well and that the diagnosis is reason for optimism. Lots of beauty in the botanic gardens, enough to add a touch of light to even the darkest mood. Until the next time, hugs and kisses. David
ReplyDeleteHi David! Sorry you got rained out, you seem to have the same weather as we have here! Yes, sometimes we need courage. I hope to get some results from the test in the next days, but still have to go for an MRT on Sep.3rd, that was the earliest appt. I could get. The botanic gardens are always wonderful, on the next dry day I will get on the tram and visit there again, it's such a beautiful place to be. Have a good rest this afternoon, take care, hugs!
