Hi Everybody!
This evening we will be starting a new challenge at Tag Tuesday, and this time Wendy is our host and has chosen seashells as her theme. Thanks to all who entered Michele's challenge, and to Michele for hosting. Our blog goes live Monday evening at 9 p.m.
I made a tag using Botticelli's beautiful painting 'The Birth of Venus' and added a few embellishments. The text was added digitally:
And I have another collage with one of my strange faces inspired by Karen O'Brien. I am linking to Neet's type challenge at AJJ:
This evening we will also be celebrating Elizabeth's T sTands for Tuesday link party, so here a warm welcome to all of the lovely ladies of the T Gang who visit here.
These photos were taken in Neviges 2 years ago. We had some refreshments in a huge flea-market/cafe/restaurant in the old town there:
The cappuccino was not second hand:
On the way back we visited a 'Heimat Museum', (Heimat = home, environment) which had a huge collection of things people had in their homes in days gone by. And I still have some of these pieces in use:
And a few funnies:
Have a great day, take care,
ad thanks a lot for coming by!

It's a fun piece and there's lots of text for Neet's challenge. And I like these photos for T this week. Its a fun look back, and so many great kitchen and T items. I hope you have a fantastic early T day and start to your week Valerie.Hugs-Erika

ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah, I'm not quite awake yet, but working on it with coffee! That was a pretty place we visited. Hugs to all!
DeleteThanks Laurie! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed the photographs from your trip to the flea market - the old Singer sewing machine reminded me of mum - I am sure she had a treadle one when i was tiny.
ReplyDeleteLove your journal page with the Karen O'Brien face on it. The teenager is sos typical of youngsters and how they sit with their cell phones, tip tapping away. I wonder how all this technology will go in years to come?
A great page Valerie, thanks for another entry to my theme at Art Journal Journey.
Hugs, Neet xx
Thanks Neet. My auntie always worked on a treadle machine, she was a dressmaker. I think in years to come our thoughts might be beamed directly to the phones! Have a great week, take care!
DeleteBotticelli's "Birth of Valerie, oops Venus" is surely one of the most recognizable works of art in the all the world. I am sure it is featured in every art coffee table book ever produced! It has been shown on stamps, bookmarks and countless other items, no doubt. You have adapted it well here. As for the second piece with "The Head" I am biting my tongue here! I could really have fun with that but my comments would get to be x-rated! I am sorely tempted though! The saying about dust made me laugh. In a fit of madness the other day I dusted off all my books, and my desk, and the computer. Maybe there were dead authors I consigned to the trash can, having smeared them around a little first. And then, even more unreasonably I took the corn broom and swept off the patio and the path leading from the deck at the side of the house, and hosed it all down. I really must devise a way to resist these crazy impulses! Today, I will have lunch with my friend Josh and we will resolve all the issues of the world! If only people would take heed! A new week begins, Valerie. I hope it is filled with delights for you. Hugs and kisses, David.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I was born near the London Docks, but don't think I looked like that! I can imagine what was going on in your head with my head piece, don't go there, David! I think the dust quote is wonderful, at last I have a valid reason for not waving my feather duster too often. Not that I do it much anyway! Well done on getting so much dusting and cleaning done at home, You can be proud of yourself! And imagine you were dusting away someone you knew - reminds me of 'Alas, poor Yorick' in Hamlet! Have fun with your friend Josh, I am sure you would be better able to solve the problems of the world than most of our 'leaders'. I'm looking forward to Friday, I'm going out with 2 girlfriends with a trip to Bonn and its wonderful 'Museum mile', yesssss! Take care, have fun, hugs to you both!
DeleteSuch a fun post! The funnies made me smile and your tag and pages are fabulous 😀. Loving the wording you added too. ReplyDeleteThanks Jo, that was indeed a fun place to visit, with so much to see qnd enjoy. Happy T Day, have a great week!
DeleteNan and I saw a Botticelli exhibit a few years ago. There was a painting of Venus, but without her clam shell. Interesting tag and journal page. I'd love to poke around the vintage shop. Love the blue and white china the best.
ReplyDeleteThanks CJ. Those vintage shops were great, I could have stayed there all day!

DeleteTerrific post! I think I'll have to make a sea shell tag and join in tomorrow since it's been so long ~ I love your kitty pics and flea market/junk shops are so much fun! Happy Monday ~ Love, Karen
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen, have a great week. Hope you Join us at Tag Tuesday!
Deletecappucino is the best when is fresh made:D
ReplyDeleteYes, so I always make it fresh, all day!
DeleteBotticelli was a great choice for sea shells. That is a very famous painting and was considered quite erotic when it was first painted.
ReplyDeleteYour head is quite good, too. I should have put off to tomorrow what I did this afternoon. I was late getting to the herbs and bamboo and nearly suffered a heat stroke. Now I must remember to get out early every morning. That girl's tee gave great advice. It's a really clever entry for Neet's theme at AJJ, too.
I remember that post because of the chef and the butler. I also remember the beautiful tea service on the old Singer sewing machine base. You gave us a ton of drink related examples for T this Tuesday. Now I'm off to get my own coffee and something to eat, too. Thanks for this great post, dear.
I forgot to mention that many of those items in that antique museum are similar to what I own in my own home. I'm always amazed at the minutia some of us collect and cherish!
DeleteThanks Elizabeth. Times Change, I wonder how Boticcelli would have painted her today? I have lots of those old things, too, and always enjoy using them.
DeleteYou said I didn't mention why I was drinking from a mug, but if you look directly below the back side of the card, I put "Originally I was going to block my address with the mug, then realized the crocheted coaster would be better."
DeleteIn other words it was originally to hide my address.
Sorry, I published before I was finished writing. The translator I used showed the information about the postage stamp was supposed to be in German. I tried Swedish and that didn't work. It kept telling me it was German. That's why I thought it was German. The web site I clicked on was for Iceland, which surprised me that was what the translator picked.
DeleteThanks Elizabeth, I missed that sentence, I was half asleep when I commented last night. The translators aren't always right, that's true. But I loved that piggy stamp, so pretty!
DeleteLisca wrote the language on the stamp was Icelandic (DUH). She told us exactly what was on the page. She used Google translator and I didn't.
DeleteI've been wondering about the language problem, because I was so tired last night I thought the card was from IRELAND, not ICELAND. DUH again!
DeleteLooks like we were both a bit befuddled yesterday.
DeleteGorgeous art today Valerie, love that tag! What a fun and interesting museum, I love to visit places like that and that cat picture is so cute! Enjoy the week ahead.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Tammy
Thanks a lot,Tammy, you would have liked that museum, think am sure. Have a great week, hugs!
DeleteFabulous Tea shop photos! And love the quote about books and cats. I have been reading The Cat Who...series, again! Such easy reading, and relaxing in this hot weather. Happy T Day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon. Books, cats, coffee - all good things! Have a great week, stay safe!
DeleteI love the homey collections of various household goods and kitchen things. It must have been a beautiful visit. I hope things go back to normal soon. I thought they were ok and now they aren't!
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thanks Mae, we got down to almost no new Covid cases, and then it just exploded again. Have a good week, stay safe!
DeleteLovely post Valerie. I remember your visit to Neviges, particularly because of the brutalist church (Mariendom). But the antique things are interesting. I love looking around places like that. Yes, It's amazing how many of those 'antiques' are still in use. I recognise your china for one.
ReplyDeleteYour orange art work is beautiful as is the Venus of course.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
Thanks Lisca, I love Neviges, so many contrasts between new and old there. I still use the kitchen things I got given by my great aunt and other family members, and I'm still sitting at the desk from my great-great grandmother. When I came here to Germany I got lots of old kitchen things from a neighbour - including the china - and as you say, I'm still using it. I like using things that have been passed down through the generations, it gives a feeling of continuity....
DeleteGreat tag and journal page. Love all the photos and the one on dust made me laugh. There are some wonderful places near you, they all look really interesting.
ReplyDeleteHugs Wendy.
Thanks Wendy. we have lots of ancient places round here. Be careful when you dust!
