Hi Everybody!
Hope your weekend is going well.
Today I have another piece for Neet's type challenge at AJJ. The background is a page from an old Webster's dictionary. I gave it a light coat of gesso and collaged the lady, the magnifying glass and the definition. I did some background stamping with letters, and added some stenciled alphas and some stick on ones to create the words.
Some photos from my walks, creatively arranged by Blogger!
I love the lavender growing out of the wall - 'Out of the strong shall come forth sweetness'
I got caught in the rain and took shelter under the roof of the public toilets:
Sunrise is always beautiful:
This is where people gather to make a fire, other places are forbidden:
Waiting for the ferry:

Have a great Sunday, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Well you know I love your art but the photos today are amazing. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole! Have a great day!

ReplyDeleteThanks Christine. It was a very heavy rainfall! Have a great day!

DeleteBellas fotografías me gusto la del la lluvia. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteEnamorada de las letras
Muchas gracias! Que tengas un buen dia!
DeleteThose glasses are fabulous, and adding the letters to them is such a cool idea Valerie. What a fun page for AJJ. I've never heard of the phrase word blind. It is nice to learn something new. You really caught the rain in that photo too. Luckily you had a place to duck into, and hopefully the rain didn't last too long. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika. It's s strange phrase, but somehow fitting for Neet's theme. That really was some rain, I was happy to find a place to shelter! Have a great Sunday, hugs!
DeleteLooks like a wonderful day for walk
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Thanks Dora, enjoy your coffee!
DeleteLovely art work, sometimes blogger has a mind of its own! Lucky you could shelter from the rain , it looks heavy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue, lately Blogger really has a mind of its own! The rain was very heavy indeed, I was glad I could take refuge there! Have a great day!
DeleteHi Val, good morning! Hope you feel rested and have slept well. It's rather chilly here today, the kids are still tucked up in bed and hopefully stay that way for a bit! Love your journal page, very clever use of words and types! And that really was a heavy rain you got caught up in! have a great day, stay safe! Hugs from us all, Sarah
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, it's chilly and grey here, too, a good day to stay home and read! Hope the kids stay quiet so you get a quiet half hour, too! Have a great day, take care! Hugs to all!
DeleteWhat a lovely walk, thank you. I love that sculpture (on the photo after the lavender on the wall) very modern, beautiful lines.
ReplyDeleteYour page is perfect for my theme at AJJ. Absolutely perfect. Love the way you have used 'word blind' throughout the page, especially in the magnifying glass. The background is perfect with its fine coating of Gesso, a ground for the letters you have stamped and also the collaged elements. I like the limited palette of colour you have used as well.
Thanks Valerie, this is just so perfect for the theme.
hugs, Neet xx
Thanks Neet. The sculpture is a modern wind-vane, and moves and turns all the time, I love it, too! Glad you like my word blind page, I keep trying to think up something new! Have a wonderful Sunday, hope you are well! Hugs!
DeleteGreat post :) Have a nice day :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Martyna! Happy Sunday!
DeleteGood morning Maestra Valerie: It is safe to say that I have not gessoed anything of late, nor have I collaged a lady, although I confess I might have enjoyed that! I checked my glasses too and I did not stick letters on either lens. It is a good thing that I cede to you these creative impulses and I am content to admire the results. Reviewing a book that someone else wrote is enough for me! Last night we had a simple dinner. There was cold chicken and pasta salad left from Heather and Lily's visit on Friday, and we made a green salad to go along with it, and voilà, dinner! For dessert Lily had kindly left us a few cherries and we had an apple too. I am quite sure that my healthy genes perked up in appreciation and fired all their neurons with glee. I hope that the weekend has been kind to you and that your ailments behaved at least reasonably well. Hugs and kisses. David
ReplyDeleteHi David, bird king of the far away dominions! I'm glad to hear you haven't gessoed anything, and it is not suitable as a salad sauce either! But yes, I can imagine you having fun collaging a woman, should I send you some pictures to play with? Your newest book review is really good, as were all the others! Your 'leftover' dinner sounds great, I made myself some baked fish yesterday, and it tasted good. I'm glad Princess Lily didn't eat all the cherries! I had some tasty peaches here, small and sweet, delicious! I don't feel bad, apart from being achy and shaky and very tired all the time. It can only get better! Have a great day, take care, hugs to you both!
DeleteFun page. I never heard the phrase Word Blind. Blogger did a wonderful job of arranging your photos. Beautiful skies and colorful ferries. I love the seagulls as I think of them waiting for the ferry. Glad you found shelter from the downpour. The flowers growing out of the wall show us where there's a will, there's a way. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe seagulls wait for the ferry and the boats, always hoping for food!
DeleteLove your journal page, you make mixed media look so easy. Have a great weekend. Hugs Anesha x
ReplyDeleteThanks Anesha. It's playtime for ne when I do Mixed Media
DeleteFancy boats! That lavender is tough! It took me years to find one that would grow here.
ReplyDeleteFancy boats indeed. Lots of plants sprout in the walls here, they must be tough!
DeleteLove your walks. So bright and cheerful. It is summer time all right!
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed!
DeleteHi Val, Bill here, Love your art and photos
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill, have a wonderful day!

ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy, have a great day!
Deleteso lovely photos:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy, have a nice day!
DeleteYour photos are art. I love them. Your collage is great. I like the boldness of it-I think I said that before-but I do like it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra, have a wonderful new week!
DeleteThis is fabulous, so colourful and clever. Lovely photos too! Have a great week, Sue xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue, you have a great week, too!
DeleteGreat idea with the spectacles and the "Word Blind" theme with the letters confusingly bouncing around.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your photographs too. My favourite is the one with the nasturtiums and the one nasturtium making a break for it - as they do. Mine are currently climbing up the Brussels Sprouts.
Thanks Sheila! I Love nasturtiums, too. Have a great week!
DeleteA fantastic page and take on Neets theme at AJJ Valerie, I often feel like that after sitting reading a good book for a long time.
ReplyDeleteYvonne xx
Thanks Yvonne, I know what you mean. I sometimes see words when I close my eyes!
DeleteFabulous page and I love seeing the Rhine too, it always looks so busy 😀. I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo, there's always something going on at the Rhine! Have a great week!
DeleteWhat fabulous photos today. Looks like glorious weather on the Rhine -- and tasty drinks, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks jeanie!
DeleteI've never heard of word blind or word blindness before, but I can appreciate that you chose it for Neet's theme at AJJ. It is certainly a different take on the theme.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful boat and Rhine shots today, dear.
Thanks Elizabeth, always something new to learn here!
DeleteLove this ! What a clever idea! Lovely photos once again - a designated place to light fires sounds like a good idea - we see burnt patches all over the place! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris, have a great day!
DeleteGreat art piece! Very fun!
ReplyDeleteThe lavender growing out of the wall is excellent! Love that!
Big Hugs!
