There are always flowers for those who want to see them

Hi Everybody!

Hope you are enjoying your day. It was warm and sunny, so I was able to walk about  a lot, and this afternoon I had a nice afternoon nap on my balcony, and woke up to bird song and the wind rustling the leaves of the trees - perfect!
By the way, the title is a quote from Matisse.

I have another tag for Pinky's 'animals' challenge at Tag Tuesday. I used on of my photos taken here in Kaiserswerth as my background, a ginger cat photo and a digital dog image from Mischief Circus, all put together in Serif:

And I have another floral piece for Mia's flowers challenge at AJJ. I used a flower painting made some time back, and magicked it into my digital programme. Then I copied it a few times and placed them over each other. I digitally cut out some of the flowers and layered them on top. This is a rather fiddly job, but great fun when it works out!

On Sunday morning my early walk took me through our little town, and I took photos of the houses and courts which have such lovely window boxes filled with flowers:

It's a lot of work to keep those window boxes looking so good, so kudos to the house owners who do it so well!

Yesterday  we had a lovely evening glow in the sky, so I took photos from my balcony:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  2. Loving the new header Valerie, sounds like a great way to wake up to birdsong after having 40 winks. Made me smile did the tag, the cutest ones usually cause all the chaos hee hee! Beautiful doors and windows with their shutters, the architecture really is so lovely to see, the iron guard on that window is fabulous. Don't those window boxes look stunning in bloom just as your journal page does. Hugs Tracey xx

  14. Good morning Your Royal Valerieness: My word your little town is beautiful, and those flower boxes are a joy to behold. As you point out the good citizens who take care of them deserve great credit. And here you are, snoozing on your balcony, resting like the princess you are, waking to bird song and leaves rustling. Does idyll mean anything to you? Perhaps when next you next indulge yourself in this way we can arrange for Nathalie to play lady-in-waiting and have cucumber sandwiches with the crusts removed waiting for you, with tea in a bone china cup, served on a Royal Doulton tray, perhaps. No! No! You can't have coffee in a mug. It would spoil the whole ambiance. And just make sure there is no paint under your finger nails! Until the next time, I remain ever your devoted admirer from afar, David of Waterloo.

    1. Thanks for the laugh again! My fingers and clothes are almost always full of paint, and on the balcony I drink my coffee from an old tin mug! We don't stand on ceremony here in Balconia-by-the-Rhine. Somehow it's always my job to cook and serve, too. but Nathalie is visiting her mother this week so will be waited on there instead! Have a wonderful day Sir David!

  17. She's not as innocent as she looks 😺 Very true for cats. The window boxes are amazing. I have window boxes, but when there are flowers, I forget to water them so they don't look amazing as those on your walk. Speaking of amazing, the sky photos are gorgeous! Take care and enjoy your day

  24. That dog may be correct, but that is an absolutely adorable cat. A genuine beauty.

Flower power. Haven't heard that for several years. This is incredibly well done. I love the bright and bold colors and the lovely flowers, too. Thanks for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey using Mia's theme.

I've often admired the flower boxes that are on the windows in your town. Add to that, the potted plants that sit next to doors, and you have a very colorful and rich, beautiful place to walk and admire your surroundings. Great photos.

  25. I have so enjoyed walking around your town and seeing the houses and the beautiful window boxes, reminiscing about the time I have spent in similar places in Germany whilst on my travels. Thank you for the nostalgic trip. So enjoyed and lost myself for a minute or two.
I must commend you on your sky photographs - especially the bottom one which is so beautiful in its colouring. I love how the purple in the sky is reflected lower down - it is a beautiful photograph, but then they all are.
Like both your pictures. Love the way you have layered the bottom one with those rectangles framing the whole and how you have allowed the flowers to escape from the shape at the base of the picture.
The other one makes great use of a photograph of yours and that tiny kitten is adorable but I can see what the dog is saying could possibly be true.
Lastly I must comment on your blog header - love the footwear, I can envisage you wandering around your lovely walks and the wonderful places you take us to see. This must have been taken during a well earned rest sharing the peace and tranquility of the day.
    Hugs, Neet xx

Glad you like the journal page and the tag, I had fun making them and trying out new tricks. I have a break at that place nearly every day, with my feet up on the railings, and I always wear sneakers. Have a great day!
