Hi Everybody!
Today we are starting a new challenge at More Mixed Media blog. Our challenges are always anything goes, this time with the optional addition of pink. As always, the challenge will run for 4 weeks. You can enter as often as you want, and it would be great to see YOU there. Lozzy always offers prizes of digital paper packs, too:
It started out as an underlay page, and had various smudges and scribbles and the peacock feathers on it, as I had been trying out the stencil. Then it got a layer of diluted gesso to tone it down a bit. I had been trying to glue the pink netting to something else, but it wouldn't stick. Then I put it on here while I was talking on the phone, and it stuck straightaway!
When the gesso was dry I added some pink acrylic paint and wiped some of it off with a wet rag. When it was dry I went to work on it with stencils, doodling, die-cuts and some sewing. I am practising some doodling each day to get my fingers working again:
And some photos from my walks around here:
The tiny chapel in a neighbouring park:
Somebody just let the glasses here:
Does anyone know what these feathery things are called?
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Thanks a lot, have a nice day!
DeleteGood morning Val hope you are feeling better today! I love your new journal page, and seeing how you made it, and the doodling is fantastic, well done. Just don't overdo it with your fingers, will you?! (I know you!) Wonderful photos, too. The kids can go to he playground now, so we we will have a walk later and then they can go in if it's not too crowded. Have a lovely day, hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah. I do feel better today, but there's still room for improvement. Have a great day with the kids, take care!

ReplyDeleteEverywhere is green and beautiful, with flowers galore where you live, Valerie. It must be a great pleasure to go on your walks. I hope that very soon you and Nathalie will be able to take them together, and not two metres apart either. Have a great walk today. Best wishes, David
ReplyDeleteThanks David. Nathalie has now almost finished her move, and will soon be beginning her studies, so I don't think there will be so much time for walks. But I will keep walking! Have a gret day!

DeleteLove the feather in the back of your art piece there. Don't know that plant sorry. Is that a fig tree in the planter? The church is beautiful, love the stain glass windows and the paintings. I imagine it would be a peaceful place.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I don't kno which tree it is, sorry, not something I'm good at!
DeleteAnother fabulous page Valerie, nice to see how you layered the paints, don't you just love those paint strokes that a good layer of gesso leaves. I'm used to multitasking whilst on the phone too..The black looks very striking on top of those layers.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo's, I wonder if the couple were disturbed hence leaving their glasses? Those motifs did make me smile, maybe they were embracing in a midnight cheers!! Hee hee.. Hugs Tracey xx

Danke. Ideen? Ich fange einfach ein und mache weiter, die Ideen kommen irgendwann. Oder auch nicht. Wenn es mir nachher gefällt, ist gut. Wenn nicht, wird auseinander gehackt oder landet im Altpapier Container! Bleib gesund!
DeleteCool page. I like seeing how you made it Valerie. That big feather is really a great image. And those polka dots trees are adorable. They really work. All together you have an A+ page. And I enjoyed my virtual walk with your photos too. Hope your Wednesday is going well. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika! The big feather is lovely, but sometimes difficult to use because it is so big! Have a great day!
DeleteLoving you art but then I always do!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have a tree type/bush like the one you asked about in our own yard.
It is called a Smoke Tree.
Hugs and Stay Safe 🌷🐦🌻☕
Thanks for that Jan, much appreciated. I'm off to put my feet up now, been walking a lot! Stay safe!
DeleteJust looked up smoke tree on the net, and that really seems to be the one. I would love one on my balcony! I'll have to ask at the garden centre.
DeleteArt makes the world a better place, doesn't it? Thanks for doing your part. :)
ReplyDeleteAs always, I love your artwork and photos. I even did a Google search on "pink feathery plant," but didn't find anything that looks exactly like the plant in your picture. It sure is pretty, though.
Duh. I just read the previous comment. A smoke tree, huh? Really pretty.
Take care, dear lady. Keep on walking, and keep on taking care of yourself. (And keep on inspiring us with your artwork!) Hugs.
Thanks Susan. I will give my best! Stay safe!
