Hi Everybody!
Today we are starting a new challenge at AJJ and this time the lovely Neet of Hickydorums is hosting, and her theme is fur or feathers. This can apply to animals and birds and any other things made of fur or feathers. Have a look at our blog and read what Neet has said.
I am starting off with an A3 journal page of watercoloured feathers inspired by a mindfulness lesson. The words I have used are from Karmand Kojouri. I added some tiny feathers, too. I mostly stick to acryl painting, but using water colours and a smaller brush enables me to slow down a bit:
Oh, I do love your page of feathers! Delightful! I'm now working on the Artist's Soul retreat by Ida Andersen Lang. Have a lovely, creative day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb, the feathers were an experiment, but one I enjoyed! Enjoy your retreat! Hugs!
DeleteI absolutely LOVE those feathers. You drew some very colorful ones and some so very realistic. Most impressive and so different from the other admins. This is an absolutely perfect first entry for Neet's theme at AJJ.
ReplyDeleteYou have a ton of feathered friends living near you. Really great photos, Valerie.
Thanks Elizabeth, glad you liked the feathers, I had fun making them. have a great day, hugs!
DeleteHi Val, good morning! LOVE your gorgeous feathers, what a fantastic first page! Lov e the photos, too, especially the one where there is movement, great! Have a wonderful day, take care, hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Sarah, have a lovely day, hugs to all!
DeleteFeathers! Now here is a theme worthy of my attention! Perhaps everyone will be so enamoured of it that a vote will be taken to carry on with it for the rest of the year. For many societies around the world feathers hold totemic significance. Regardless of that, for anyone who takes the time to study it, a feather is a device of rare strength and beauty, and of course it is the defining character of a bird. You have done a marvellous job in creating feathers, Valerie, showing their structural diversity to say nothing of their fabulous colours. Then you show us real birds so that we see for ourselves how feathers even help to define a species and enable thermoregulation and flight. I will have to send you to the top of the class, accompanied by Neet who chose this theme. Hugs and kisses - David
ReplyDeleteHi David! I thought you would like this lovely theme. I had fun playing around, as always! I told Heike about the kisses for her neck yesterday, and she said it was very kind of you! So you made someone happy again! Feathers are always beautiful. I always pick up the feathers I find on my walks, and sometimes on my balcony, and admire their wonderful structure. I think it was Ikaros who made himself a feather costume and tried to fly, and Leonardo's flight drawings were definitely influenced by feathers. And I enjoy watching the birds on my balcony. I placed a big bowl of water there and they come to drink and take a bath! I need to go out for some shopping today, so I'll say TTFN. Hugs!
DeleteI like how you didn't add an animal but just went with feathers. And they are fun feathers too. Those colors are such fun. I like this take on the challenge Valerie. And Happy September to you also. I hope you have a great month. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika, I just played around here, and it was fun and relaxing. Have a wonderful month! Hugs 🤗🤗
DeleteFabulous collection of colourful feathers for Neets theme on AJJ as you know I love birds so your photos are appreciated as well. Hugs Wendy
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy. Birds are really lovely, this theme is good for us! Hugs!
DeleteWhat a gorgeous array of feathers you have for us, and I just love the quote you have given alongside the drawings. I love how it gives the quote with a male angel instead of the stereotype blonde lockeld female.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed using your smaller brush and watercolours, less tiring I should imagine and something you could lose yourself in.
Thanks for joining in my theme.
Hugs, neet xx
