Hi Everybody!
Today we are starting a new challenge at AJJ and this time Mia of Craftartista is hosting and has chosen butterflies for her theme. Journal pages of all formats are welcome, and you have the whole month to join us. My page is 8" x 8". The central image is from Gecko Galz:
Today I am sharing some archive photos of a trip to the harbour of Neuss, a neighbouring town:
The 'Pegel Uhr' measures the depth of the water:
We were surprised to see a turtle swimming around in the water:
And we enjoyed refreshments in an Italian ice parlour afterwards. And no, I didn't eat it all!
I'm looking forward to being able to out again soon!
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
This is a beautiful first entry using Mia's theme, I was so impressed with the way the butterflies stood out and the embellishments you used around the focal image. Beautifully done, Valerie.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing that port again and I am now hungry for ice cream with fresh strawberries.
Thanks Elizabeth! Ice cream and strawberries - I wouldn't mind a portion either! Have a great day!
DeleteHi Val, good morning! I overslept today, and the kiddies all tiptoed round and let me sleep, that was good! Love your beautiful butterfly page, and I'm thinking ice cream now! Have a wonderful day, take care, hugs, Sarah

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the photos from your neighbour town too. I especially liked the river boat (never been on a river boat!) and the sea turtle, as it is one of my most favourite sea animals.
Thank you for joining my challenge at AJJ, my friend. Hugs and save an icecream for me too! Ha ha! Kisses!
Thanks Mia! I don't know if I have the strength of character to save an ice for you, but I will try! Hugs, Valerie

DeleteThere's even beauty to find in industrial landscapes. The geometric lines create interest and inspiration. Happy Month of June! Hugs, Deb
ReplyDeleteThat's true! You have a great month, too!
DeleteI love your beautiful butterfly page Valerie. It is perfect for Mia's challenge. And Neuss looks fascinating. How cool to see that turtle. Good thing it is first thing in the morning and I am not craving ice cream, because boy it all looks so good. I don't know which I would pick. Smile. The nice thing is I can enjoy how it looks and not get the calories. Have a wonderful T day and start to the month of June. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika. Good that calories aren't catching!
DeleteValerie, your butterfly journal page is gorgeous! I love the intense color drawing me into her face and her dreams. The surrounding subtle color with words and flowers and lines and all the details are an awesome framing for her. I will have ice cream dish #1 and after I’ve eaten it, I want to take that pretty dish home with me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie! okay, I'll keep that ice for you, but they don't let you take the dishes home, pity!
DeleteAh, butterflies so light and ephemeral, to bring beauty to our lives during their short period of adulthood. I seem to see more species every day here. Of late Clouded Sulphurs are everywhere I look in fields and meadows. Whenever I see a bird grab one I am happy that the bird captured food for its young, but sad for the butterfly whose already short life was terminated so abruptly. But that is the way of nature. Everything must eat something else. Humans of course, in addition to satisfying their requirements for fat and protein, turn to optional foods like giant containers of ice creams and other sugary treats, topped with a little fruit to give the illusion of healthiness. "I'll have the rain barrel size", I think you said. It's too bad you were unable to finish it. Last evening I sat through a Zoom meeting I couldn't get out of, about food waste. It is incredible what we waste in the west, Valerie. And shameful too. I have to say, smugly, that Miriam and I came out on top of the rating system they had for people who use every scrap of what they buy. I shall wear a self- satisfied smirk all day. Actually, Miriam has given me strict orders about what she needs me to do in the garden, so I doubt that smirking will be what I'll be showing to the world. A grimace here and there might be more like it. A la prochaine chère amie. Gros bisous de ton ami David.
ReplyDeleteHi David! I've seen only one butterfly up til now, perhaps they will come out of hiding when the sun stays a bit longer! Yes, we all need to eat, and it's not nice for those getting eaten! And that ice was sooooo good! Fortunately my friends were willing to finish it off for me, so nothing went to waste! Waste is really shameful, especially when so many resources are used and others have nothing. I hate waste, wear my clothes til they fall apart, and mostly buy small quantities of food and use them up. I'm glad Miriam has directed your activities to the garden today, have fun and do as you are told! Enjoy your day, dig deep, drink plenty of coffee, hugs to ou both!
