Hi Everybody!
Greetings from a very hot and humid Düsseldorf! Either we get frozen or we get baked, the weather is crazy!
For Wendy's tag on tag challenge at Tag Tuesday I have another entry:
On Sunday 2 friends collected me and then we drove through Düsseldorf to the south of town. After parking the car, we walked through the Urdenbacher Kämpe - a nature protection area - and enjoyed the beautiful fields, meadows, animals and birds we saw on our way.
Then we arrived at the Rhine and boarded the ferry to take us across to Zons, a small town from the middle ages:
The shield shows St Martin cutting his cloak in half for a poor beggar:
On the other side we walked through the fields till we got to Zons:
This is a beautiful model of the town:
The gateway leads into the walled town, and inside the town we had to be masked:
My companions greeting the bishop:
The photos of our ice creams and drinks are being saved for next Tuesday!
Time went by quickly, and it was time to cross the river again and then walk back to the car:
There's a wonderful video of Zons which you can see here.
It's just under 15 minutes and well worth watching.
And we walked about 10 kilometres all together, so that was good!
I will show more photos in my next post!
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Nice tag. I like how you did your tag on tag in this one. And it is always so amazing to find such rural looking areas so close to cities. Thanks goodness for that. It looks like you had a great day in such a pretty place. And nice to know you could get an ice cream too. Hope your week is going well. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika. Düsseldorf is a very green town. We had a lovely day indeed, it was nice to get away for a few hours!
DeleteGlad you had such fun nice tag too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, it was a wonderful day!
DeleteOh, I love this gorgeous tag, Valerie! The soft colors are perfect for her pensive pose. Love the text on her clothes. Your stitching is a perfect detail. It looks like you had a beautiful day for your long, interesting walk. Zons looks like such an interesting town to walk through. Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie, We had a beautiful day indeed, and Zons is a place I love! Have a great day!
DeleteThat's a lovely tag on tag today, Valerie. I especially like the sewing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful walk. Zons is gorgeous and the fields are beautiful. Much of the scenery seems to be unspoiled, too. This is a beautiful area and it was great you took us with you.
Thanks Elizabeth! The scenery is really unspoiled and I hope it will stay that way!
DeleteHi Val, good morning! It's hot and humid here, too. I've got the pool set up in the garden for the kids! Love your beautiful tag, and the delicate colours, so beautiful! Thanks for sharing the photos, I will watch the video later when I have a break. Have a great day, hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah, glad you are all set for keeping the kids happy in the heat, they will have fun. Have a great day!
DeleteBeautiful photos;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Martyna! Have a great day!
Liebe Umarmung Elke
Danke, liebe Elke! Zons is immer schön, und ich bin immer wieder gerne dort. Ich kenne Niemand der Zons nicht mag! Dir einen schönen Tag, bleib gesund!
DeleteWhat a lovely day out, looks as normal as things ever did. Stay cool in that heat! Hugs, Deb
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb! It was great to be out again, but I am still being very cautious! Hugs!
DeleteLovely photos, looks like a fab country. Your tag is absolutely beautiful...hope you had that cocktail. xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie, I 'm thinking of treating myself to a cocktail this afternoon!
DeleteThe nature reserve looks quite lovely, Valerie, but it seems like a contradiction to have domestic cattle there and to cut the grass for hay. That seems destructive of a nature reserve to me. But an enjoyable walk no doubt. I am curious as to why you block out the faces of your friends. Had they requested that their identities not be revealed or is this a requirement in Europe? Zons really looks very agreeable and a place of great history. We never have that sense of going back for centuries, with medieval buildings and cobbled streets a thousand years old, and a statue on every corner. I expect that quite soon, at the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology, a statue of you will soon be commissioned, erected in honour of your numerous discoveries of new species, and even families new to science. People will flock (!) to have their picture taken alongside you, and since it will be a statue they will be at liberty to leave your beautiful face unblemished! Enjoy the end of the week and the weekend coming up. Hugs and kisses. David
ReplyDeleteHi David! The people who live there are allowed to use the ground for biological farming governed by strict rules. The European data protection act forbids showing faces of people who haven't been explicitly asked, and I could not ask them in the middle of the night when writing the post! I love places that are steeped in history like here and in Zons. I think people might flock to throw rotten tomatoes at me! Short reply today, not feeling very well, so trying to take it easy! Hugs to you both!
DeleteTake good care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteA very pretty tag. You live in such a beautiful area. The trip to Zons looks like a fun time.
ReplyDeleteThanks CJ, it was good to get out again!
DeleteYou tag is so pretty. Valerie, the more photos I see of where you live the more I want to visit there. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole. There's lots to see here!
DeleteBeautiful tag.
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa, have a great day!
DeleteIt's hot and humid here on the outskirts of London too Valerie. Even in my usually cold art room.
ReplyDeleteI love your tag and beautiful photos.
Stay cool,
Alison xx
The only cool place here is my bathroom! Look after yourself!
DeleteI'm still not getting out much and thoroughly enjoyed this virtual outing. How fascinating to have access to a town like that, and who can say no to a trip to a nature preserve?!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I enjoyed it, too. There are lots of these places from the middle ages here. Have a great week!
DeleteYour posts are such a treat! Love your art piece! The colours are so pretty! I hope you are not too hot with the weather! I so love your nature photos! They make me smile! Big Hugs!

DeleteWhat a lovely walk you had with your friends, looks like you really made a day of it. Beautiful scenery. I hope you have many more days out with friends very soon. Your tag is another beauty Valerie. Hugs Tracey x
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracey, it was good to get out again!
DeleteWell, I am going to go and sit in the sun and watch the video, that sounds really interesting, what a lovely day out you had. I love the fields that you walked through, how lovely to see all those red poppies. I never see them up in the north of England growing like that, we tend to have the yellow and orange Welsh poppies growing wild but not the red ones. And they are my favourite!
ReplyDeleteHow nice of your friends to take you out for the day like that.
The tag you made is beautiful, it is a tag within a tag and it really is very pretty and summery.
Take care and enjoy the sunshine
Hugs, Neet xx
Thanks Neet, it was great to get out again, it was the first time in well over a year! Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
DeleteI love this tag Valerie - a lovely combination of elements! What a great adventure to go to Zons with friends...and in the sunshine too! Is Zons as quiet as it looked in the film? It really is a lovely place! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris! Sons is a quiet little place, always a joy to vizit!
DeleteJust love this tag Valerie, so much to see. Lovely photos as well.
