Weekend Post

Hi Everybody!

It's weekend, enjoy! I still get excited when it comes to the weekend, although as a retiree  I don't have to work any more. The weather has warmed up a bit, my flowers are growing well, and it's good to get out without freezing. On Friday I went to Aldi with my neighbour to do the  shopping, and we had to wait - well distanced - in a queue till we got in. But inside was fine, we had plenty of space as not so many people are allowed at any one time.

Today I have one of my Van Gogh knockoffs, made using acrylics and pastel chalks. The gold metallic stars are stickers. I am linking to Elle's language challenge at AJJ:

And I have a last tag for Sandy's sport challenge at Tag Tuesday:

Some spring greetings:

Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

    1. Thanks Kathy, the photos were all still on my camera from the past few weeks, so it's quite a mixture. Glad you like the fun tag, too! Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Sarah, good morning to you. I slept well and long, and will feel better when the medicaments kick in. The weather looks grey and chilly here, too! Hugs to you all!

  4. I love Van Goch, and I love your tribute to him. Isn't it grand to see all the flowers now? Apparently, you must queue here to get into shops, but once inside it is a sad free for all with no observance of social distancing. Hugs, Deb

    1. Thanks Deb. I love Van Gogh and have painted my version of many of his paintings, which is always fun. They are being very careful in the shops here now, so that's good. Have a great weekend!

  7. I always love when you share Starry Night images you create. This one is different and I really like the way you portrayed the stars.

Your tag was really clever, and it looks like the lady found a great companion to join in her exercise regime. LOVE that exercising cat!

You have a wonderful mix of beautiful nature shots. The swans were great, but the flowers, many of which I couldn't identify, were wonderful.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth! There's an advert on TV which shows a lady and cat doing their exercises together, so I picked up the idea here! Glad you like the photos!

  8. Your Van Gogh knockoff will knock the socks off most, Valerie! Great job! I have absolute confidence that Vincent would be very pleased to know that the Diva of Balconia, so many years hence, continued to find inspiration in his work. And I bet he wouldn't even demand royalties. After all, he was hardly used to affluence! The photograph of the feather shows very clearly what a lovely and highly efficient item it is. Feathers are almost totemic for me. And just take a look at those swans. If you had to define grace, elegance, style and beauty, I doubt that you could do better than to select a swan. A couple of evenings ago they had a short segment in the news about a fashion show. I have to say that some of those models look deformed! Give me a swan any day! The weekend is upon us, and you are quite right, Valerie, that it is no longer as significant as when we toiled at our daily jobs, but it is still to be enjoyed to the fullest. Last evening we kicked it off well with Chicken parmigiana for dinner, with a delightful Argentine Merlot. The simple things in life are often VERY good. I will take my leave for now, but no doubt we will be chatting again come Monday. Hugs and kisses (oodles of them). David

    1. Thanks David, I have always been fascinated with Van Gogh and his works, and love making 'my' versions. Feathers are beautiful. I love finding them when I am out walking. That little white one was really tiny, but so beautiful. I'm always happy when the swans come to the Rhine, mostly they live in the little lakes, where it's a lot more peaceful. Some models really look strange, that's true! Chicken parmigiana and Merlot sounds great, wish I lived nearer! I'm planning a quiet and restful weekend, with lots of reading and coffee, and an apple pie will be baked tomorrow. Till next time, hugs to you both!

  10. The night sky is a great topic for Elle's challenge. I love this Van Gogh-esque page. The night sky has lots to say, and even better when it swirls and sparkles too. And funny tag too. That made me smile. Your spring photos are great to see. It is always so exciting to see spring blooming and the grey and blah of winter disappearing. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs-Erika

  18. They've removed our mask mandate here for vaccinated folks, but since there's no way to know who's vaccinated and who isn't you can imagine how this will go *sigh* I'll continue to mask up inside stores.

Your closeups are stunning, and you do such a great job getting clear photos of the birds. Mine always turn out blurry.

  26. Your "Van Gogh knock-off" is fabulous! I love the colors, the blue and silver go so well with each other. Lovely spring images at well. Standing in line at Aldi - ugh! I'm glad we don't have to do that anymore. Were you able to get your vaccination? I am fully vaccinated since March and I'm so relieved. Life is getting a bit more normal, even though I am still quite cautious. Enjoy the spring!

  29. I so enjoyed your "knock off" post. A lovely journal page and a great tag too. Where do you get those figures from? She reminds me of the ladies having coffee that you used.
Love the photos, especially the flower ones - what is that blue flower - such a gorgeous shade of blue, and the one with the pigeon. Now that one is very clever and would be worthy of entry into a competition. You work so well with a camera.
    Hugs, Neet xx
