Hi Everybody!
Here the week started cold, wet and windy, with icy rain, and some places they even had snow - I hope spring will soon come back!
Today we are starting a new challenge at TIOT - vintage photo.
Projects of all formats are allowed, and as always, you have 2 weeks to link up to us.
I once again used the lovely photo of Erika as a child, and placed her in a TH glass and metal frame. The background of the tag is part of a master board made some time back. This is one of the last pieces, so I have started on a new one. I placed the tag on a recycled and party peeled cardboard tag, which was painted with gesso. As embellishments I used some recycled flowers, lace and grass and a real leaf.
I am also linking to Moo Mania and More, floral.

Today is also Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so a big welcome to all the T gang. The photo here shows the house of John Wesley in London, now a museum. He was the founder of the Methodist Church. There seems to be tea and coffee and something to eat for everybody:
But my drink is, as always, cappuccino....
For Art Journal Journey, for the record, I made a hybrid piece, using a wonderful galaxy photo as background. I heard this song on the radio yesterday, and was straightaway inspired. 'There's a kind of hush all over the world' was sung by Herman's Hermits in 1967, and by the Carpenters in 1976

And here the original song from Herman's Hermits:
And here some lover-birds in love:
On Sunday evening the sun came out after the rain and then we saw the rainbow:
Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Where to start? Wonderful tag, great journal page and music, and lovely photos. I didn't know about Wesley having lived in London. Have a good Tuesday, hugs, Sarah

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely rainbow and photos!! I have a Herman's Hermits album and have always loved them!! Hard to believe that Peter Noone still looks so good and is currently touring:)Beautiful art as always here. Happy T day too!
ReplyDeleteThat tag is incredible. Your choice of corrugated cardboard seems to be perfect in my opinion. Of course, I adore the flowers, Erika, and the leaf, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to see that museum/John Wesley's house in London. Although the surroundings seemed to be a bit stark, the table had extremely elegant and beautiful tableware. Quite a spread, too. Of course, I knew what you would be drinking. It always looks so yummy.
I thought the image you created for your AJJ song was simply wonderful. And of course, those birds were fun, too.
Thanks for sharing your always INCREDIBLE art and your tasty cappuccino with us for T this Tuesday.
Wow what a gorgeous rainbow. It is particularly bright. And I love the tag and your AJJ page, and I also didn't know that Herman's Hermit's sang that song long before the Carpenters. Have a great Tuesday. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteSuch wonders today Valerie. The beautiful tag has such wonderful textures. Lots of interest and inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLove the table layout and the trees outside to be able to look out as you eat and drink your coffee.
Great song to choose for AJJ. Herman,s Hermits still come to the Spa here though I am not sure how many of the original members are in the band now.
Have a great day

ReplyDeleteSo ein wunderbarer Regenbogen, herrlich in den Farben. Wie toll gelb der Baum rechts in der Sonne leuchtet!

What a great post as always. I love your tag. Very cute photo of the little Valerie and an awesome masterboard.
ReplyDeleteThe Wesley museum in London is interesting. (Beautiful tea set). I lived in Bristol and Wesley lived there as well for a while (He did travel about a bit as you might know). His house there plus chapel are a museum now too. Although we are not Methodists, we love the hymns that Wesley wrote.
What a beautiful rainbow! Stunning. Thanks for sharing that.
Thank you for visiting and happy T Day!
Blessings,
Lisca

Perfect frame for your little Erika photo. Love the background so you will indeed need to make more. WOW gorgeous photos of the rainbow, a symbol of hope for all. It is good I read every word of your blog because when the photo of John Wesley's dining area came up, I thought "I didn't know Valerie had a fireplace." Duh!

I forgot to mention Herman Hermits. I really like them and I knew all the songs by heart. And I remember this one in particular. Also 'Mrs Brown you've got a lovely daughter'. I always wondered what became of them. I think they moved to the States...
ReplyDeleteLisca
Yes, Mrs Brown was a great song, too. The group still seems to be going strong and giving concerts.
DeleteBeautiful starry page, fabulous tag and gorgeous photos; I love the rainbow ones.
