Dream....

Hi Everybody!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

I am sharing more pages from my 'new' journal, which fit well to a song from way back when - 'Dream, dream, dream'  sung by the Everly Brothers in 1958.
I am linking to Art Journal Journey, for the record.

Recently I showed this photo from the work on the stairs by the Rhine:

And this is how it progressed:

The smaller stairs at the right are meant as a ramp for wheeling up prams and/or bikes:

Windsor Castle on the Rhine:

And I showed this photo of the trees being cut down in the square by the Basilica. Apparently they were full of some sort of pests which were destroying them:

On the day after the stumps were removed and also the roots etc:

Some of the sawn-off  logs have been left as seats by the houses:

And new lime trees have been planted already:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  10. Fantastic page today Valerie. You look like you are having a lot of fun in that new journal. And those stairs are really coming along. How is your knee doing? Are you back to walking without a walker? Hugs-Erika

  11. Love your soft, dreamy spread today, Valerie. Your ongoing photos of the changes in your town are remarkable. When the workers start a project they get right to it. The new steps to the castle grounds will be well used and so up to date with the small steps for prams and cycles. The tree removal and replant was also done in quick time. If you left town for a month, you may not recognize it when you return.
    Have a wonderful week.

    Hugs,
    C

  12. Did you really have to say that the song was from way back. You really know how to hurt a girl! And by the way - do you really dream about the Mona Lisa?
Enjoyed all of your pictures - thanks!

    1. I don't dream about Mona Lisa but often see faces. Yes, we are from way back, too - oldies but goldies!

  13. I actually know that song, since they play it on an oldies (mostly hard rock) radio station I sometimes listen to. It's a wonderful rendition in your new journal. I suspect it's been fun working in it, too.

I was SO glad to see the progress of the stairs. I was very impressed with how quickly they went back up. I was thrilled to see the before, during, and after shots. I was also pleased to see the stumps were being used as seats and the new lime trees. Very quick jobs, both! Have a super day and enjoy those new steps, hopefully without a walker!

  18. I love that classic Everly Brothers song, as well as the traditional stenciling technique you used in your page, which reflects the dreamy feel. Blessings!

  19. Boy does that song take me back. Loved the Everly Brothers. And the end results of the steps are great. I don't think I would have thought of making them like that. Good thing I didn't go into engineering:) I'd love to see your area of the world some day.

  21. I love this, just as I used to love the Everly Brothers! Your journal pages and photos have been fabulous Valerie, I have just had a catch up! So pleased to see that the chopped down tree report has a happy ending! I hate leaving a comment like this but fear if I don't I will never catch up with commenting! Hugs, Chrisx

  22. All your news about the trees and their recycling and replanting of new ones is very cheering.
Ditto with the now very fine stairs.
I hope your golden oldie is not going to sing itself to me all evening, these older songs are so tuneful and hummable.

    1. Also meant to say I do like your "new" journal page, suitably dream-like and I am intrigued by the green lady.
