This, that and the other

Hi Everybody!

There's lots going on today, so I'll get started straightaway.

At Try it on Tuesday we have a new challenge, use metal. As always, projects of all sorts are welcome, and you have 2 weeks to link up to us, so hope to see you there! I made a 8" tag from corrugated card, painted white, and embossed with Frantage antique white. I collaged some tiny scraps of old letters and varnished them. Then I added different metallic effects with gilding flakes in various colours. The leaves are real autumn leaves, coated with embossing ink and embossed with Utee gold enamel. I added some flowers and a butterfly as further embellishments.

For Art Journal Journey, through my window, and 49 Faces I made an A3 page using 'my' head with a window put into it. I drew the light-bulb and used India inks to colour the face etc. To finish it off I added some  yellow spray for the light.

At Tag Tuesday our theme this week is white space.  I decided to make a black and white, shaped cow tag - it has lots of white spaces. I added some googly eyes and a bell - finished.

And Tuesday is also time for Elisabeth's T stands for Tuesday
group meeting. I wanted to bake a special cake for this week, but never got around to it - sorry. But I sacrificed myself and went into a Café for my fave drink, cappuccino, and a slice of Raspberry cheese cake.   I saved the cake for you, so please help yourselves and have a taste.

This is the window of the cafe/restaurant at the old ferry here. You can sit inside and look out at the river, or sit outside on the patio or in the beer garden. The Ferry and restaurant have been there since 1392, although it does seem to have been modernised a little bit. I loved the photos of the windows, because you can see the Rhine reflected in them, as well as the interior.

The reflections make it look rather surreal.

Have a great day you all, take care
and thanks a lot for coming by again!

  3. I'd say you had a light bulb moment. Couldn't help myself because that's what I thought of when I saw the face through the window.

That tag you made for TioT is stunning. I am a metal junkie, and love any metal. Of course, the recycled corrugated cardboard is right up my alley, too. I was super impressed and hope to get something together for the challenge. Your entry is beyond BEAUTIFUL.

Speaking of beautiful, I would love to join you for cheese cake. I know some don't care for it, but it's a favorite sinful indulgence I love. Yours looks great, and I would gladly enjoy the raspberry, because most people have strawberries, which I don't care for once they are processed. Your coffee (OOPS, cappuccino) looks gorgeous, too. I would take one, too.

Thanks for sharing all your lovely art, your tags, your techniques, your beautiful and often surreal photos of reflections, and your enjoyable repast of cappuccino and cheese cake with us for T this Tuesday.

  5. A real mix from you today Valerie. I love autumn but I feel as though we've hardly had a summer here this year. I can take or leave cheesecake so please feel free to eat my portion! I'm going to make an apple crumble today. It's one desert we all love in this house. Have a lovely day, we actually have some sunshine here! Xx

  19. You have been very busy girl!! These are all so neat. Love the lightbulb window face - you are always so creative Valerie and the cow is truly adorable. But my fav is the metal mixed media - just so unique and lovely. Great reflective picture of your cafe too - love the history. Your picture of your "treat" was yummy looking! We have a tiny German cafe here in our small town of 300 - can you believe that? They make everything themselves - pastries, desserts and fab meals!!! I have not had raspberry cheesecake - it looks fun!! j.
