Hi Everybody!
Here's wishing you a good start in the new week!
We had a definite nip of Autumn in the air here over the weekend,
but it was great weather for walking, and for spending an afternoon at home reading.
For Art Journal Journey, through my window, and for our 49 faces challenge, I made another face in a window, and added some shutters. Sometimes I think it might be a good idea to have shutters or blinkers to shut out things we don't want to see! She was drawn with pastel chalks and India ink pens. I used some stamps from Darkroom Door for 'enter here' and 'look within'. I am also linking to

The horses were out enjoying the fresh air when I passed the riding stables:
The castle ravens
I visited Schloss Kalkum and saw that the Egyptian Geese have lots of goslings again, I didn't realise they had young ones at this time of year.
The Canada goose was helping to keep watch over the littl'uns
I love the beautiful autumn colours of their feathers:
The heron was looking for dinner in the field:
This lovely window is in a door I passed:
And this small, stained-glass window was right up under the eaves of another house:
The interior decorations shop was reflecting the opposite side of the street:
And the wonderful window decoration in the bicycle shop - I just love this one!
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Lovely face 'in the window' today. The birds are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing your lovely walk.
ReplyDeleteSo how many faces are you at now? You must be in the double digits I would think. Today's face came out really well. She reminds me a little bit of an o;d fashion doll- the kind with painted red cheeks. And I agree, of all the windows the bicycle shop one is my favorite too. Hope your week is starting off in a good way!
ReplyDeleteI think this is 17. I have the faces in a folder labelled 'Doll Faces', that was the inspiration!
DeleteLove the face, she really is a doll, and I love the wacky colours. Have a good start in he new week, hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteEine ganz besonders schöne Seite zum Thema Fenster, herrliche Naturaufnahmen - tolle Fensteraufnahmen!
ReplyDeleteDie Woche startet perfekt!
Hab einen schönen Montag liebe Valerie!

Wonderful photographs Valerie. I wanted to reach out and touch the wonderful texture of the horses and the ducks. Such a shine on them all.
ReplyDeleteJust love the page and the beautiful green/orange hues. She looks so homely and happy.
Have a great day
Love Chrissie xx
Your new face is fabulous, reminds me of the old wooden clothes peg dolls :D The wee goslings are so cute. Hope your day is going well {{Hugs}}

Love the fun quirky face! Great idea with those bits of lace!
ReplyDeleteAs always, I found your face refreshing. It was fun how you found a way to incorporate so many challenges, too.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the photos, and had never seen an Egyptian goose before, nor had any idea how beautiful their feathers are. Lovely, lovely photos.
They are really very beautiful
DeleteA beautiful face, she looks comfortable and happy with her world.
ReplyDeleteLoved the photos as well.

Love that window into her life you created! Fabulous! I could almost reach out and pet that gorgeous horse! The little ducks look so cute! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet face and the lattice shutters are so cute.
ReplyDeleteLovely countryside. That horse is gorgeous. I want to stroke his gleaming chestnut coat.
Hugs,
Teresa
Love your frilly window shutters. And that window with the building reflected in it is the best. xox
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fall colours in your journal page and in your photos too. The Egyptian geese are so different from the Canadian which we have here in Idaho. The horses are beautiful and the window photos exceptional. It is a fall day here but should warm up mid week. Hubby has a birthday today so it is a day to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
C
We have both sorts here, the Egyptian geese are rather recent immigrants.
DeleteReally like the green eyes. She looks like she is a happy person with her painted cheeks. The border round is just right to set her off. The window with the reflections is a great photo. Lots of wildlife as well great post.
ReplyDeleteI agree, shutters to close off the world is sometimes necessary. The good thing is that you get to choose when and you want to shut out and let in. I love your photos! I have never seen Egyptian Geese. Also like the reflection of the buildings across the street in the window.
ReplyDeleteLove this Val, the green and the orange look brilliant together. I'm sure the horse in the photo is smiling for the camera xx
ReplyDeleteI like the way you illustrated the statement through your graphics. I also love that last photograph, and how your artwork mimics in a way. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteOh, Valerie, I've hopped over from Jim's blog today (Love The Details), and what a delight to see your amazing artwork! It's gorgeous!! And I love the photos of nature and the beautiful architecture! What a fun visit! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of birds, and yes I didn't realise that geese were still making goslings so late, and I like the blue heron and the bird above.
ReplyDeletePhotos of shop windows are fascinating too.
Your face and her words are fun, an unusual face, I like the way you have painted her eyes and her hair.
Love the face wish I had lovely green eyes like her. Love the pics of the horses and ducks
ReplyDeleteWow Valerie! Your face is so beautiful! Love the photographs, especially the reflections in the window! Chrisx
