Hi Everybody!
Hope your weekend is going well!
For Art Journal Journey, through my window, I painted the face of the night- I often look out of my window at night when I can't sleep, and love seeing the colours of the sky, the shadows of the trees, the moon and the stars. The quote I have used is from Sting's 'Sister Moon'.
I painted an A3 page with various blues, green, turquoise and black, added some fairy dust, drew the face profile using one of 'my' heads and drew the town silhouette along the bottom. I added some foil stars and painted the moon with Maya gold from Vivacolor.
I am also linking to 49 Faces and to Kim Dellow's 'Friday Face'
I was up early and watched the night turn to day and then the sun rise. You can see planes coming in to land at the nearby airport:
The crows were in 'their' tree:
There were lots of boats on the Rhine again:
And this evening the moon shone into my room:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
It's the blood moon and lunar eclipse tomorrow night I believe. Beautiful page and colourful sunrise today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely journal spread! Love the Sting quote. Beautiful photos as well. Can't wait to see the moon on Sunday night.
ReplyDeleteNor can I, I so hope the weather here is good!
DeleteWonderful night page, love the quote, and the photos are great. I hope the night stays clear for you to take pics of the blood moon. Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of the face AND that background. Not sure how you got all those "stars," but they really shine on my computer and have truly brightened my night.
ReplyDeleteHope your day is going well, because it is darker than dark here, and the moon is behind the storm clouds. I'll just admire yours and pretend it's coming from MY window!
Amazing photographs Valerie, I especially love the one with the bird silhouette.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great page with the colours of the night and the great line of a song by Sting. He does write such interesting lyrics. The star dust is a magical addition.
Have a great day
Love Chrissie xx

Fantastic magical art work Valerie - I love the colours, words and the twinkly bits.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos - I'm guessing you'll be moon watching in the earlier of tomorrow for the lunar eclipse/blood moon. I hope I can stay awake - I think here in UK its from about 1am.
Have a wonderful Sunday.... Gill xx
Fantastic page with an amazing background. Love the silhouette with a moon like eye.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos too.

Valerie, I love your window into the night! What an amazing and dreamy background! Wonderful photos and love the Moon shot! We are lucky as the event will take place around 7:00 PM! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI love it when you put yourself into your journal pages. The night is beautiful as painted with the town outlined below! I always enjoy the skies each morning as you capture them.

This is a stunning page Valerie, you have captured the night on this one. Super photos as well.

Wonderful impressionistic night time face - and amazing sunrise pictures. The moon was stunning last night, and tonight is the rare eclipse of the super moon - should be at its best around 3 or 4am in Europe - will you be up?!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
Oh yes, but it will probably be cloudy here....:(
DeleteOMG, what beautiful photographs. And I love how you combined your paintings with Stings words. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteFull moon nights can wake me up too, I guess it's the bright moon light. Love your painting, the depth of the colours are wonderful, and I didn't spot the face at once. I had to search for it even though it was very obvious.
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing Rhine in glorious sunshine.
Love and hugs

Beautiful pages, Valeria. Love the depth of colour and of course the quote. Such a wondrous sky this morning. "King of the Huns"??? hmmmmm ..... xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful evening scene. I love the outlined head and cityscape.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeously bright moon.
hugs,
Teresa

PS I just now caught the airplane in one of those pictures! Very cool:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, the comment and the follow;) Much appreciated.
Wonderful atmosphere in your art today, enhanced by the quote.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the sunrise and the planes arriving.
Good luck with seeing the moon tonight.
Hi Valerie! Your post is absolutely magical! I love your work of art that you created!!! I love the quote by Sting, and I love everything about it. It really speaks to me. I have trouble sleeping at night sometimes and do the exact same thing. It's very peaceful where I live and you can see a lot of starts twinkling in the sky. I loved seeing your amazing photos, too. Tonight is the supermoon eclipse and it is going to happen here at about 10:00. We are letting our 12 year old stay up to see it!!! Thanks also for your wonderful visit to my blog! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteLove that song. Humming it in my head now. xox
ReplyDeleteYou have beautiful skies in/out your window. That moon is fantastic. Your journal page is very mysterious as is the night.
ReplyDeleteSandy xx
A truly magical post! Like you often stand by the window at night when I can't sleep! I have been known to go out onto our decking too as it is really dark at the caravan! A few weeks ago we watched the shooting stars(or at least I did - once hubby had seen one he had had enough of the cold!!) Your page is wonderful and so far I have had a real treat!! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteValerie, I love this page! The black streaks to the left remind me of female figures ascending- or perhaps spirits watching over ! So cool! Jackie xo
