Night and day, sun and moon

Hi Everybody!

Hope your weekend is going well!

For Art Journal Journey, through my window, I painted the face of the night- I often look out of my window at night when I can't sleep, and love seeing the colours of the sky, the shadows of the trees, the moon and the stars. The quote I have used is from Sting's 'Sister Moon'.
I painted an A3 page with various blues, green, turquoise and black, added some fairy dust, drew the face profile using one of 'my' heads and drew the town silhouette along the bottom. I added some foil stars and painted the moon with Maya gold from Vivacolor.

I am also linking to 49 Faces and to Kim Dellow's 'Friday Face'

I was up early and watched the night turn to day and then the sun rise. You can see planes coming in to land at the nearby airport:

The crows were in 'their' tree:

There were lots of boats on the Rhine again:

And this evening the moon shone into my room:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  4. I am in awe of the face AND that background. Not sure how you got all those "stars," but they really shine on my computer and have truly brightened my night.

Hope your day is going well, because it is darker than dark here, and the moon is behind the storm clouds. I'll just admire yours and pretend it's coming from MY window!

Such a great page with the colours of the night and the great line of a song by Sting. He does write such interesting lyrics. The star dust is a magical addition.

  14. Wonderful impressionistic night time face - and amazing sunrise pictures. The moon was stunning last night, and tonight is the rare eclipse of the super moon - should be at its best around 3 or 4am in Europe - will you be up?!

  16. Full moon nights can wake me up too, I guess it's the bright moon light. Love your painting, the depth of the colours are wonderful, and I didn't spot the face at once. I had to search for it even though it was very obvious.

Thank you for showing Rhine in glorious sunshine.

    Love and hugs

  23. Hi Valerie! Your post is absolutely magical! I love your work of art that you created!!! I love the quote by Sting, and I love everything about it. It really speaks to me. I have trouble sleeping at night sometimes and do the exact same thing. It's very peaceful where I live and you can see a lot of starts twinkling in the sky. I loved seeing your amazing photos, too. Tonight is the supermoon eclipse and it is going to happen here at about 10:00. We are letting our 12 year old stay up to see it!!! Thanks also for your wonderful visit to my blog! HUGS!

  26. A truly magical post! Like you often stand by the window at night when I can't sleep! I have been known to go out onto our decking too as it is really dark at the caravan! A few weeks ago we watched the shooting stars(or at least I did - once hubby had seen one he had had enough of the cold!!) Your page is wonderful and so far I have had a real treat!! Chrisx
