Thursday Post

Hi Everybody!

Just a quick post today, I have an appointment with my neurologist and she is on the other side of town, so I need to get moving!

Today I am sharing a piece made with a magazine cut out, which I collaged and altered. I was thinking about getting older, and the changes it makes in us. I added scraps of paper to one side of her face and hair, and an eye, which looks rather myopic, cut from a drawing I made.  I faded some of the pictures, too - perhaps the feeling of fading away. I am linking to my anyting goes challenge at AJJ:

And some funnies / thinkies:

I will also be linking to Nicole's FFO and
Gillena's Friday art fun

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. Hi Val, good morning. Your face today is different, but a great theme about getting older, and very well made. A very good way to show the problems of getting older. Have a great day, hugs, Sarah

  2. Hi Sarah, it's a difficult theme to show. But I wanted to try it. Have a great day, hugs to all!

  3. Getting old is pathetic in this youth worshiping world in which we live. This is a sad young lady who has aged right in front of us. It is very sad how we treat the elderly and I am glad you shared this idea of aging with us. And what better way than to do it with your amazing theme at AJJ. A perfect way to make a statement!

Loved the bees and Noah. Hope your appointment goes well.

    1. So true, Eizabeth. Oldx people get pushed out of the way, jostled in queues and often ignored. I hope all these bright and beautiful young people never get old!

  5. Though we may grow and look old, we are still the same person who never grow old inside.

  6. This gives a whole new meaning to two- faced, Valerie! Not much time today. I have to leave shortly to lead a bird walk and I have four other commitments. Back to my normal verbosity with your next post! Hugs and kisses - David

  7. Getting older is quite the journey sometimes, isn't it? What I find strange is that you'd think all of us would be more aware of it having had family who has aged, yet so many things happen that are surprises. I am loving your altered face and you fantastic page. Good luck at the doctors. And that bee meme could be read a couple of ways-the arc-hived word play and hopefully not that bees are just going to disappear and be part of that archive. Hugs-Erika

    1. Yes, it is indeed a hard journey which I am struggling with just now. Good Interpretation of the arkhives, it seems like they are really disappearing these days.

  18. I really love this concept Valerie makes me want to try it out myself using collage just like you did. Great impact, it would make a fabulous poster or print.
I hear what you say relating to aging, I try my best with those that I care for but I'm often let down by society and it's network that runs at snails pace when I'm in need of extra help. Food for thought indeed.. The world needs to shake off it's selfish attitudes.
I hope your appointment went well my friend. Hugs Tracey xx

    1. Thanks Tracey. I know what you mean, I worked in an old people's home for 7 years, and we always had staff shortages , you could never work hard or long enough to get everything done. The support systems and government cuts and lack of funding made it all so hard. Society is really selfish, we need new and better attitudes. Hugs!
