Thursday/Friday Post

Hi Everybody!

Yesterday I showed the last journal page for Alison's challenge at AJJ, and today I am showing the very last one. Once again sunflowers play a big role in my summer:

And I have another one of my strange book-print faces inspired by Karen O'Brien:

I collaged it using a magazine cut out and an older journal page:

I am linking to Paint Party Friday

And I have more photos of my summer walk through Neuss:

There is a street by the Quirinus Minster where the Mint used to be, and these huge 'coins' have been set into the  cobbled pavement:

A town gate from the middle ages, which now houses a museum:

And after walking so much, I needed a cappuccino in my fave cafe:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  4. Enjoyed your final, final entry for Alison's theme at AJJ. Sunflowers always make me smile, since they are my state flower. The journal page is wonderful. You draw faces so well. The eyes speak to me. Nicely done.

That is one big pocket watch on that building. I enjoyed reading about the coins, and I absolutely LOVE the statues. Stunning and incredible. Lovely cup and saucer, too.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth. Things sometimes get lost under the piles of thing waiting to be sorted and put away....Sunflowers are always wonderful, and a great choice for a state flower. The coins were very fascinating and well made. Have a great day!

  5. Love your very last last AJJ Summer Countryside page, Valerie. You do probably see something like this out your window so that makes it even more fun. Cool book face page too - I may have to try that because I love how it looks!

Love the pictures from your walk in Neuss. What an interesting looking place with so many cool things. Love the fact that they repurposed the gate into a museum. Love the sculputures too.

  6. Nice job with your art piece this morning, Valerie, but how can you go wrong with sunflowers and dragonflies? You personified yourself with your sunny disposition, flitting around from coffee shop to coffee shop - which reminds me by the way that I have a gift card for Starbucks that I need to use. Sometimes I feel as though the top of MY head has come off! The additional shots of Neuss are great. It really does look like a terrific town, and there's money on the sidewalk, so who can beat that? A couple of the sculptures have a South American look to them and they wouldn't be out of place in the main square of Quito or Bogota. I have to go on a tree identification walk with a fellow naturalist today. His skill with trees is far greater than mine, so I will be in a listening and learning mode. I hope your day is wonderful too. Hugs and kisses. David

    1. Hi David! Sunflowers, birds and dragonflies etc are always things I like and enjoy. I know that feeling that you think the top of your head has blown off, everything that has happened lately in the world is very hard to take in. Neuss is a great town, and they show the old ruins and ancient buildings very well. There's a fantastic museum, too, I'll show pics in m next post. Have fun today with your friend, I'm sure you'll be able to spot lots of tree names and categories in your next post. I can recognise a few trees, but that's about as far as it goes. But I do know a lot about theology - why didn't I study something more useful in everyday life!? Have BIG fun on your walk, hugs!

  24. So happy you found time for another last (?!) page for the Summer Countryside theme. Those bright flowers are fantastically vibrant - no wonder they're attracting the fluttering insects to hover around them. Another great face too - they really are very haunting somehow, these faces. So powerful.

  27. Beautiful pages. I saw some dragonflies in the garden this week. Is the face thinking of the workers or is the women thinking of that face? Love the walk. A giant pocket watch and giant coins right out of a fairy tale. I love how you can travel to Italy from the cafe. Very cool cup. Take care.

  29. That is a great view in your first piece for AJJ Valerie. It is very much the right now of July, meaning the sunflowers and dragonflies are just in season. And these faces are so much fun. I like this one. It's a great face onto top of the vintage people image you used also. Those coins in the pavement are really interesting. And I like the old looking "lion" too. Even your mug with the view of Rome is very interesting today. I enjoyed the post. Have a super start to your weekend. Hugs-Erika
