Hi Everybody!
Here's wishing us all a good week!
Today I have a new piece to share for Alison's challenge at AJJ. I painted a quick, water-colour background, and added the picture of Beatrix Potter and her sweet creations digitally. Her bunnies, geese, mice and other creatures always remind me of summer:
This evening we will also be celebrating Elizabeth's T sTands for Tuesday link parTy, so here a warm welcome to all of the nice ladies of the T Gang. This is the 8th anniversary of her tea party, congratulations!
Help yourselves to coffee:
I baked muffins for the party, help yourselves:
And some photos from my week, lots of clouds:
My balloon flowers have started to bloom:
Every evening the birds sit in the tree till it starts to get dark. Sometimes the pigeons claim the tree:
Sometimes the magpies win the race:
And sometimes it's the crows:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Lovely page and tag. Gorgeous photos. Happy 8th anniversary to Elizabeth's tea party
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, have a great week!
DeleteThat is a wonderful summer view. I like your watercolor painting. It was great to add the Beatrix Potter images too. What a fun page for Alison's challenge. And happy early T day too. Those muffins look really yummy, and I bet they taste as good as they look. Nice tag too. Wonderful summer photos too. I hope the new week starts off well for you. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika! I always love Beatrix Potter! Have a great week, see you later at T!
DeleteI love the page, it's so cute and the tag is very cool too. Those muffins sure do look delicious! I'll trade you some Mediterranean pasta salad for a few lol. Your flowers are beautiful and all great photos as always. Have a fantastic week. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha, great idea, I'll trade with you any day! Wouldn't it be good if we could pass the thigs through the computer screen, or beam them over? One day perhaps! Have a great week!
DeleteHi Val, good morning! Hope you are feeling better! Love your beautiful art, the set of Beatrix Potter books you gave the children is still one of their well loved treasures. Love the tags, too, and the muffins look wonderful! Have a great week, hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah! I am feeling a tad better today, hope it stays that way! Have a great week, hugs to you all!
DeleteBeatrix Potter is one of my heroines. I have many books on her from when I worked for the National Trust. Your weather looks a little cooler in your pictures. I hope you're starting to feel better. Hugs, Deb
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb. I love Beatrix Potter, too. The weather here has been changeable, and not so hot. Have a great week!
DeleteYour watercolour background is quite lovely, Valerie, and I am sure that the Beatrix Potter characters are honoured to be included. And I am glad to see that you turned a tea party into a coffee klatch, obviously the only rational thing to do! Perhaps I should have a word with those wood pigeons, magpies and crows and suggest that they all share the branches together and form a sort of choir to sing to you as you stroll by. There is little doubt we'd have to leave it to the pigeons to carry the melody! Last night Miriam made dinner from a new recipe she found. It was basically a chicken pot pie but she modified a corm bread she sometimes makes, into a pastry top, and it was really quite delicious. I bet you are longing to eat real food again, and I hope that you will soon be well again, and able to do so. You have had a rough year. Hugs and kisses, David
ReplyDeleteThanks David! A coffee klatch is always better than a tea party as far as I'm concerned! In all the time I've been living here it's been the same. The crows and magpies are really not melodious, but I've got used to being waken up at dawn by their strident tones! Chicken pot pie sounds very good the way Miriam made it, I would have enjoyed it, too! Yes, I would like to eat my usual favourites, but on the other hand I remind myself that millions of people don't have anything to eat, and then it all seems a bit easier. This has really been a rough year, and I'm afraid there will be more to come! I just came back from shopping with my nice neighbour, and will start making my lunch now. Have a great day, hugs to you both! And before I forget, I hope that you gave Betty a good send off on Saturday!
DeleteWe did indeed give Betty the kind of send off we know she would have approved of. She was very special in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear it, David! Thanks for the info!
DeleteWhen I was little, I had a storybook with Peter Rabbit printed on glossy pages. Tea party or coffee klatsch, it's all the same isn't? Good food, good company, good gossip. Your sky pics would make beautiful postcards. The balloon flower is gorgeous. I don't think I've ever seen one and such a shade of blue. I think I'd enjoy watching the bird races in the evening. Take care and Happy T Day.
ReplyDeleteThe Books are all small and printed on glossy paper, the old ones and the newly produced one. I have a cassette with all the books in it, and I still enjoy reading the stories. The balloon flowers are perennials and come back year for year, which is great. Happy T Day.
Deletebeautiful page and tag and I enjoyed all of your photos. pretty clouds and loved the birds Your treats look delicious for T

DeleteMuffins with chocolate icing and primroses on the following picture - so nice.
ReplyDeleteLove the photographs you are showing us today and I am in a chocolate mood.
That is a great picture for Alison's challenge on AJJ - and right at this moment I am not many miles away from Ms Potter country - about a 20 minute ride by car. I just love the characters she created and you can see lots of pottery and things decorated with them around the area.
Thanks for sharing
Hugs, Neet xx
Chocolate moods are good moods! I am still a big fan of Beatrix Potter. Enjoy your week! Hugs!

ReplyDeleteYour incredible photos of the clouds are great. I especially love the horses in the field. And I have never seen a flower like that before. It is beautiful and such a rare blue color, too.
Thank you for the tag you made for our 8th anniversary. Your cupcakes look yummy, too. Of course, it's because I'm hungry (grin). I laughed at some of the funnies you shared for T, too. Thanks for sharing your art, your gorgeous photos, and your coffee tag you gave us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.
Thanks Elizabeth! Yes, animals are always faithful. I'm hungry right now, too, but I'll have to wait till breakfast tomorrow. Happy T Day!

Jan
Thanks Jan. It's always fun to watch the birds and their antics. Glad ou like the muffins! Hpp T Day, hugs!
DeleteSuch a fun post, Valerie.
ReplyDeleteFab art journal page for Alison's theme - love that you captured the vision of the author and her creations. So lovely and sweet and full of innocence and fun. Great creation.
The anniversary tag for T-day is fun as well but your coffee and cupcake signs totally captured my attention. They are brilliant and fun - TFS.
Of course I love your coffee, food, and great pictures! The clouds are lovely and how great you captured the difference in birds. I would never have thought to do that - following you has opened my eyes to so many things. I am grateful to you. Hugz and happy T-day!
Thanks Nancy! I love the stories of Beatrix Potter - always have and always will, they are special. I'm always on the look out for fun coffee signs, my kitchen is plastered with them! The birds are fun to watch, and I enjoy sitting on my balcony watching them, and they watch me - wonder what they think? Hugs!
DeleteHappy 8th Anniversary! Love your super clouds and flower pictures but more so your yummy looking Chocolate muffins and your coffee! We have a pigeon nesting in our Wisteria, once it tried the willow but the eggs kept falling out. I don't think she's laying eggs (they would fall out too!), pigeons are really rubbish at making nests! But just uses it to shelter from the rain. The crows and the magpies always argue over something, but not the pigeons nest! Have great week!
ReplyDelete((Lyn))
Thanks Lyn! Muffins and coffee, yessssss! The pigeons here are always hungry!
DeleteAn adorable journal page, I love how you used this well loved story book as the inspiration for your countryside page.
ReplyDeleteI'm off to make a cuppa after looking at the cakes and coffee.
Yvonne xx
Thanks Yvonne, enjoy your cuppa! Happy T Day!
DeleteThat's a beautiful page and I love your T Day tag - Beatrix Potter is a favourite of mine! The signs made me smile and those muffins would be yummy with my cuppa today 😀. Fabulous photos too 😀. Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo, I think lots of us grew up with Beatrix Potter. Enjoy the muffins!
DeleteI love your journal page and tag!
ReplyDeleteYour coffee and muffins would make a welcome treat!
Love the cloudy pics, we have a clear sky tonight for the first time in what seems like weeks!
Happy T Day, Chrisx
Thanks Chris. It's been mostly cloudy and changeable here, lots of rain and storms, too. Happy T Day, hugs!
DeleteValerie, your art journal page for Summer with Beatrix Potter is a complete joy to see. Thanks for sharing. Okay, it was cloudy, but it sure made for gorgeous photos! Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos as always. Those balloon flowers are so cool. I have never heard of those. Love the food truck on your banner as well. What a cool vintage vehicle.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day!
Great new banner. Does the van serve coffee?
ReplyDeleteYour Beatrix potter page is lovely and I really like your tag for the 8th T-Blog-a-versary.
The photos are beautiful. So much clouds (we don't get much clouds) and all that geen (here nothing is green). I also enjoyed seeing the bird on their perch. Fun to think it is a race for who gets there first.
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
What a great idea to add Beatrix Potter characters what a fabulous artist/writer she was.. and a true lover of nature. Your balcony flowers make a stunning display, I hope all that rain has not harmed them too much...? Walking backwards again, trying to play catch up.
ReplyDeleteSp happy Friday is just minutes away. Hugs Tracey xx
P.S Thanks for the muffins :))
I love your page celebrating Beatrix Potter... she lived in some of the most beautiful countryside there is, of course, in the Lake District. Fabulous tag too. Loved seeing your cloudscapes as always, and lovely to see your balloon flowers... I have some on the go too! Thanks for the muffins.
ReplyDeleteAlison x
Thanks Alison. I used to go hiking and climbing in the Lake District every summer, and enjoyed it a lot!
DeleteYou always have such great posts! I truly mean that! Both your art pieces are pretty and fun! Those cupcakes look so good! Love the crows and your gorgeous flowers! Big Hugs!
