Hi Everybody !
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend! I wasn't feeling good at the weekend so I stayed home and rested and read books.
Today we are beginning a new challenge at More Mixed Media Challenge Blog. As always our challenges are anything mixed media goes, with an extra
colour challenge - pastels.
I recently rediscovered my distress oxide inks, which I hadn't found in a long time. They were hiding in plain sight on a shelf, packed in a box labelled
'Distress Oxides'. I evidently don't expect myself to be so tidy! I more or less recreated a piece made some time back, which I gave to my neighbour. The background was made with distress oxides splashed with water. The circles were stamped with a round stamp from Hein Design, the plants are from Artemio and the quotes from TH. I can't remember who made the lovely dragonfly stamp.
I am also linking to Alison's summer country challenge at AJJ:
Lovely summer page and that is a cute tag, love how the corrugated board forms the window. Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, have a great day!
DeleteBeautiful art Valerie. Don't you just hate when we get organized and then can't find anything lol! Great photos too. I'm so sorry you weren't feeling well this weekend but glad you took it easy and got in some rest and relaxation. I hope you are feeling now. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThat was supposed to say feeling better now at the end lol. :D
DeleteThanks Martha. It's strange, when everything is messy, I find things much easier....I am a child of chaos! Have a great week!
DeleteI love dragonflies and that is such a pretty tag!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your beautiful captures. And yes, I spotted the gnome!
Have a great week ahead, Valerie.
Thanks Veronica! I fell in love with that gnome! Have a great week!
DeleteHI Val, good morning! Did you have storms in the night like we did here? It was so loud, but I'm happy the kids slept through it all. Love the journal page, such lovely colours, and the tag and photos are gorgeous, too. Have a great week, hope you are feeling better. Hugs from us all, Sarah
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, we had heavy rain again, and lots of thunder, but at least it's cool this morning. Have a great week, hugs to all!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better today. If I had a view like that from my armchair I would sit for ages! Love your dragonflies! Yes, I saw the cheeky little gnome playing peek a boo!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb! The view from the window is the best thing in my apartment, and it's always lovely! Have a great day! Enjoy your tennis!
DeleteTwo beautiful creations. Love the colours on the first one. Hope you are feeling better now. Stay safe. Hugs Anesha.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anesha. I love those colours, too. Have a great week, hugs!
DeleteAfter a tidy up I can never find anything, so I think mess and chaos, especially with craft items should be counted as normal. Well that's my thoughts on the subject.
ReplyDeleteIts a fabulous journal page and the stamp is a real beauty.
I loved your tag and those lovely photos as well.
Look after yourself and rest when you need to.
Stay safe
Yvonne xx
Thanks Yvonne, you have a very sensible attitude, great! I am resting plenty. Have a great week, hugs!
DeleteYour dragonflies are beautiful and your background is definitely pastel. It is a fabulous piece. You are so good at mixed media. I laughed at your distressed oxides, though. They are beautiful, and I'm sure you will remember where you have put them next time you look for them. Thanks for a great entry using Alison's theme at Art Journal Journey, too.
ReplyDeleteOh the flowers. They are stunning. I love that people feel so safe, they can leave pots in front of their homes. I doubt that would happen in the States.
I love your Tea tag. It is beautiful. I know how nice it must feel for you to stop at a restaurant and get a real cup of cappuccino while you are out and about. Thanks for sharing your journal page, your fabulous photos, and your tea tag with us for T this almost Tuesday.
Thanks Elizabeth. I think I am so used to chaos that I just don't expect to find things put neatly into boxes! A lot of people have containers with flowers outside their doors, and I've never heard of any going missing yet. Let's hope it stays that way! Have a great week, hugs!
DeleteGood morning Valerie: I can see that I shall have to search for my Distress Oxides! I can assure you that they are not neatly organized in a box waiting for me to discover them! Sounds like a medical condition and one that I should have checked without delay. Especially if it is accompanied by a round stamp from Hein Design. i was hoping to leave my heinie out of this! I can see that once again you have firmly installed yourself in the Cathedral of Craft Esoterica (not Erotica) and the assembled choir will incant the mysterious words in unison, imparting meaning to only true believers. Perhaps there is a corner reserved for neophytes, striving diligently to learn the gospel! You dragonfly piece is delightful, as is your tag with afternoon tea. Yesterday for a simple dinner on the patio here is what I did. I bought a soft French cheese, completely unknown to me, but it's French cheese for CraftGod's sake, how can you go wrong? This we had with artisan crackers and our first glass of a delicious Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. Then we had a delicious Caprese salad I had made earlier and left to chill for a couple of hours and absorb the dressing. We finished with shrimp and cocktail sauce. All of this was accompanied by bread purchased an hour before from the local bakery, and along the way we finished the wine. Simple but very good on a hot summer's day, enjoyed en plain air with the birds and the butterflies. The view from your balcony is charming and the ornaments and knick knacks tasteful indeed. The weekend is over. The new week begins. Enjoy it to the fullest. I sure intend to! Hugs and zillions of kisses. David
ReplyDeleteDavid, you have made me laugh out loud again! Distress oxides are a certain type of ink pads. But yes, if you're are getting distressed from those oxides perhaps you really need to check you heini, too! I think craft erotica might make quite a nice change, you've given me something to think about there! Your dinner sounds wonderful. French cheese is delightful, and then crackers and wein and fresh bread, so delicious! My mouth is watering. And if I tell you I'm going to have rice pudding for dinner you won't be excited at all, nor am I. My pancreas is making problems again, so it's back to a bland diet, not my favourite at all. By the way, there is a book called the Crafter's Bible, but I haven't read it! Have a wonderful day, filled with bird song, good food and chilled wine! Hugs to you both!

DeleteI like the your page for MMM Valerie. I love the pastel colors and the repetitive images. And that tag is perfect for T. A tea trolley like that would be fun to have on the table for tea or coffee. So many treats to pick from, yummy. And I'm sorry you didn't feel so well. I hope its not your bronchitis coming back. Take care of yourself and have a nice T day too. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika, glad you like it! Help yourself to cake and tea! Happy T Day, hugs!

ReplyDelete((Lyn))
Thanks so much! Have a great week, take care!
DeleteGlad you found your distress inks - I love mine and lost them a few days this past week (mine were in plain sight too -lol). Love your journal page with the lovely colors and stamps. Great vintage tea tag too - happy T-day!!! Love all your pictures (the gnomes and the skies are my favorites. Many hugz to you Valerie. Hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy. Isn'T it strange that we sometimes don't see things that are right in front of our noses!? Happy T Day, keep well, hugs!
DeleteMorning Valerie, I only have two distress inks but I do really like them, your journal page is lovely in pastels and beautiful dragonflies, gorgeous tags, very apt for our T Party.
ReplyDeleteThe Views are beautiful from your armchair and the street looks pretty with the flowers and the gnome.
Hope you are feeling better now
Happy T Day
Jan
Thanks Jan! Market street leads down to the Rhine and is always pretty to see. Happy T Day, hugs!
DeleteBeautiful pastel page with the dragonflies. I have never used oxide inks, but then I'm not much of a crafter. (I did a bit of scapbooking and card making, that's all)
ReplyDeleteI love the views from your window/balcony. Beautiful!
And the photos of the (for me now) familiar walk along the shop, with a peep in the shop window.
I'm sorry you've not been well. Hopefully you are feeling better now. Sending you healing vibes.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
Thanks Lisca. I love walking through market street, always so much to see. Thanks, too, for the well wishes, my pancreas is making problems again! Happy T Day!

ReplyDeleteThanks Helen. Have a great week, take care! Hugs.
DeleteLove, love, love your Pastel team designer creation at MMM.
ReplyDeleteI struggled with that colour choice with my jigsaw peice, go there in the end though,lol..x
I know what you mean, I prefer other colours to pastel. Have a great day!
Deletea soft and lovely journal page, but your tag is my favorite today!Love seeing the outdoor scenery where you live. Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, have a great week, enjoy life!
DeleteBeautiful page and tag! The pastels with the meadow flowers and dragonflies look amazing and captures summer so beautifully 😀. So lovely to see the lush green views from your balcony and I enjoyed exploring with you too, the tomatoes look fab! Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo. Which tomatoes, I can't see any?! Happ T day, Hugs!
DeleteI love the tiered serving dish on your tag. I'm getting one of those in their china pattern for my daughter and son-in-law for Christmas. Beautiful view, pretty sky :) Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteI had one from my great aunt, but gave it to my daughter. They will surely love their Christmas present!
DeleteBeautiful art and photography Valerie! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Alison, enjoy your evening!
DeleteLovely tags. Enjoyed your photos. Happy Tuesday
ReplyDeleteMuch💜love
Thanks Gillena! Have a great week!
DeleteI love my oxides! Your oxide creation is lovely! Mine never look that great. Well done! I enjoyed your photos and tea piece, also. I am late, but it is still Tuesday here. :)
ReplyDeleteEarly or late, always welcome! Hugs!
DeleteValerie this is beautiful art. What a nice looking place. The Gnome is too cute. Have a nice evening.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole. I would like to buy that gnome, but it's too expensive!
DeleteSounds like the perfect weekend to me - resting and reading - as long as you're feeling better, of course. I love the soft colours of your Oxide sky over the wildflower meadow, similar to the first of the cloudscape photos below. It's lovely to take a photo tour with you again after missing all these months where I've been absent, and we've mostly not been allowed out anyway!
ReplyDeleteAlison x
Thanks Alison, glad you like it. Have a great day, hugs!
DeleteWhat a fabulous page Valerie and your tag is lovely too! I wish I could say I will join in at both but as we have been out everyday this week and still have to go out tomorrow .I just want time to sort out my upside down craft room! We have managed to fit some walks in between our appointments so it's not all bad!! I really love these photos today, you know I love your balcony views and the shops!! Belated Happy T Day, Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris, slow down and take it easy! Hugs!
DeleteI just love the effect you got with the Distress Oxides. Incidentally you did make me smile when you said you had found them all marked up and in plain sight. My type of thing. You got it so wispy, I just wish I could get an effect like that with mine. I am usually too heavy handed. Lovely dragonfly stamp that you used, it looks so effective the way you have used it on that background.
ReplyDeleteI spent too long drooling over the cake stand and choosing which I would eat first on the tag. What a lovely stamp.
Thanks for all the delightful photographs, I spent far too long looking in the window for the gnome, then realised it was for the photo underneath. Doh!
Love the test centre!
Hugs, Neet xx
Thanks Neet, I think things like that happen to all of us! I got the wispy effect by stamping the ink pads onto cling film, spraying it, and then just running the paper into it. Glad you found the gnome in the end! Hugs!
DeleteValerie, your country summer journal page is so inviting! Love the soft colors and contrast with the brightly colored circles, the flowers stamped in black and the way you’ve stamped the dragonflies. I just want to crawl into my screen and be there.
ReplyDeleteThe Happy T Day tag is so delightful! I love the colors and textures. I want to choose one of those delicious looking desserts!
Thanks Annie!Glad you liked my page. I wish I had one of those desserts here right now! Have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie
DeleteLovely tag and page - how nice to "find" things and get to play with them again. I noticed the gnome but then also something/someone peeking out of the window and then I thought that was the gnome lol. I love it when the sky is that colour with the sunset, I took a few photos like that last week as it was just gorgeous. Beautiful flowers also, everything looks so lush and green. Happy T day Elle xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Elle. Yes, finding things is always great! The shop with the gnome always has fun surprises! Have a wonderful weekend, hugs!
