Hi Everybody!
Have a great week! It's heating up again here in Europe, we are supposed to break all temperature records again this week, and I am not looking forward to it! The whole world seems to be suffering from changing climatic conditions. We can only hope that governments and people in all lands unite to change the situation.
At Tag Tuesday there is still a week to join in Wendy's lovely 'circles' challenge. I made another tag using a photo I took last week, placed on a hand-painted background. It's a photo of a shop window on 'Königsallee' (King's Avenue) which is easily the most expensive shopping street in Düsseldorf. All of the exclusive shops are gathered there, with steroidal bouncers in too tight suits guarding the shops, always talking into the microphones in their sleeves. Old ladies taking photos of their shop windows are evidently very suspicious! They often remind me of the film 'Planet of the Apes' where the apes were dressed in suits.... I don't shop there, but I do go and view the shop windows from time to time and take my pics. I loved these colourful decorations, and took a selfie here with our challenge in mind. The text was added in my graphics programme :
Tuesday is also Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday linky party, so here a warm welcome to all of the nice ladies who join in there. I drank lots of coffee again this week.
This was a cappuccino at a bakery in town:
Here I had a slice of vegetable quiche for lunch along with my drink:
The bakeries mostly serve good food, snacks and drinks and cost less than cafes, so for me, a good choice.
Cups and coasters in one of the shop windows here in our little town:
More beautiful china:
Silver and white:
This tiny cafe is by the Rhine gate, and also offer a selection of ices, drinks and snacks. It is the old guard's room, where the guard would have sat while checking on all who went in or out of the town. It's about 6' x 6':
And some more photos from my trip along Königsallee and in town last week. I am also hidden in several of the pics:
Hitchhikers please note the house number:
This bronze figure is one of my faves:
This strange column is in front of the Telecom building:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Good Morning Val! This is another wonderful post. Love the very clever tag you made, great idea to use your selfie, and the colours are gorgeous. You evidently enjoyed your walk and showed us what is going on in those 'temples of vanity'. Had to laugh at your description of the bouncers! Take care this week when it gets hotter. Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteLovely colourful tag Valerie and some fabulous and interesting photos today.. loved to see the shops.
ReplyDeleteHotting up here too - I will never moan about winter again :)
Try and keep cool and have a great week.
Giil x
Thanks, I know what you mean!
DeleteColorful photos and post is interesting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tag. So fun that you are in it. Königsallee sounds a lot like Newbury St. in Boston and all you can afford to do is window shop. Fun to find a 42. I've seen a couple of 42s lately, but they aren't where I can safely get a photo. Stay cool today
ReplyDeleteSo true! Even the Coffee costs twice as much so I drink mine elsewhere
DeleteHi Valerie love your photos you have lots of beautiful shops where you live ,awesome work on your tag ,well done my friend xx
ReplyDeleteI love your tag Valerie, what gorgeous bright colours, well done on getting yourself in it too! I can't be bothered with the posh shops and the bouncers. We visited Puerto Banus last year, and the only place we could afford was McDonald's. Have a very happy week, Sue x
ReplyDeleteYes, I know that feeling!
DeleteIts nice to be in the city through your photos Valerie. I didn't realize Dusseldorf was as large as it is but any city with those high end shops has to be big enough to support them. That was a fun walk window shopping, and I love the photo you chose and how you created it into a tag. Those window hangings look great by themselves but even more cool in the tag. Happy early T day. I need to make a quiche I think as I haven't had quiche in forever. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteDüsseldorf is large and very towny. Our little town is so small you would miss it if you blinked while driving past!
DeleteI love a good slice of veggie tart, so yum!☺
ReplyDeleteBright and yummy scrummy post. Loving this tonight...x
ReplyDeleteGreat photos from your walks and I enjoyed the stroll down the high street and it was fun spotting you in the photos - you don't look that suspicious to me!
ReplyDeleteLove the tag from the window display, very colourful.
Have a great week, Avril xx
Such colorful shop windows! I love the concept of cup and coaster, and would have trouble resisting one of these. The veggie quiche looks delicious. I'm impressed by the 42s as street addresses. We never get street addresses of 2 digits. They've done a wonderful job of planting around that lovely bronze figure to make a scene. Sweet! That tower is certainly striking. I wonder if people try to climb it.
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day! :)
I don't know, but I haven't tried it! Not yet, anyway!
DeleteIt's looks made for it lol
DeleteOh! I agree Valerie...color does bring happiness and lifts spirits.
ReplyDeleteYour tag is fantastic! I love it!
And your photos have beautiful colors, too.
Just ask your government and others such as ours and you will be lied to and told that there is no climate change!!! GRRRRRRRRR!!!
Hugs~
Here the government agrees that there is a climate change, they just can't agree what they can do about it....Profits are much more important!
DeleteYour tag today is VERY colorful, Valerie. I'm loving it and it's great you used your own photo, too.
ReplyDeleteI remember when I went to Dallas one year, I went to Nieman-Marcus (a high end shop). They were on a corner and had doormen in heavy suits opening the doors for people. This was summertime and I felt sorry for those poor men whose job it was to not just open the door for patrons, but scrutinize them as well. I can understand your bouncer comment because of that. You DO have some pretty impressive shops with big names.
Of course, I'm low rent (so to speak) and much prefer your cappuccinos in the bakeries and your quiche. I can't believe you get a cookie/biscuit with your coffee. Guess that's why I never order coffee when I go out to eat.
Thanks for sharing your adorable tag, you colorful and awesome photos, and your cappuccinos with us for T this Tuesday.
I was actually wondering if that pole was a climbing pole and it looks like I'm not alone in my thinking I fear. Also, like Divers and Sundry, ALL our street number begin with 3 digits. Makes it hard to find a 42, so you are incredibly fortunate.
I went to Nieman-Marcus in Atlanta, and the prices were also not quite in my income bracket! I think that strange object is a sort of stylized telegraph pole
DeleteAn awesome and colourful tag Valerie.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed seeing the photos which allowed me to look in the shop windows with you.
I don't think I would have liked seeing any of the price tags in those 'posh'shops, but it would have been interesting to see the folk who were actually buying.
Your vegetarian quiche looks delicious, you have me thinking to make one for later in the week.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
Great photos and I love your tag Valerie!
ReplyDeleteI shan't be venturing out in the heat, maybe I'll take my walks early morning.
Keep cool,
Alison xx
I hope you are managing ok with the hot weather again. Love your tag, so colourful and I like you are in there too. I have no interest in those kind of posh shops either, way over priced and way out of my spending capability. Coffees are becoming a bit posh here too, cafes seem to charge what they like. Keep cool.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the window shopping. Some pretty stuff! Yummy looking dessert& cappuccino. I like the bronze, too. Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteLove your digital tag! It can be fun just looking at the shop windows at exclusive/expensive designer places-also fun to people watch:) Your cappuccino and quiche look so good... and of course I especially love all the architecture as seen through your camera lens. happy T day!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful post brimming with goodies!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your shop window photos Valerie, and it's fun to find you amongst some of them :D)
Awesome post-as always. I enjoyed all the shop windows and all the cool architecture of the buildings too Your cappuccino's always look so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWe are finally getting a much needed cool down for a few days-we were extreme heat as well here-so stay cool do you have a/c? or a place to go for relief? hope so-Happy T Hugs kathy
No A/C here, unfortunately. I try to get out in the early morning and perhaps later I will go on the tram into town and go to a museum or through the shops as they have A/C.
Deletegrowing up we didn't have a/c either Mom and Dad took us to the theater or shops too-hugs
Deletehere's hoping that the governments all hear your cry for action against climate change. your tag is mesmerizing! have a good week and do your best to stay cool. xo
ReplyDeleteI really love your clever, colourful tag! I love your views of the posh shops in Dusseldorf and your description of the security guards not only made me chuckle but was a perfect description of men in those jobs everywhere!Your cappuccino and quiche would do for me too!Happy T Day,Hugs,Chris xx
ReplyDeleteMany wonders today.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE veggie quiche.
Hugs
Who doesn't??
DeleteA fabulous tag and your photos are amazing, its too hot for me to go shopping today, so it’s been great to look at your blog and go window shopping.
ReplyDeletexxx Hazel.
Another great tag! I never tire of your lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteSorry I am late in stopping by...a migraine had me out of commission.
Happy T day!
I'm sorry my comment didn't come through (again). But thank you for taking me window shopping.
ReplyDeleteThanks anyway!
DeleteThe words on your tag and the entwined hearts on your coffee made me smile, thank you! I love that bronze statue too 😁. Sending you wishes for a Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteLove your photos! Thanks for the visit.
ReplyDeleteThat's a terrific selfie, Valerie. The colorful circle makes a perfect tag or page.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shopping area - for window shopping. I don't think I could afford anything inside! I like that statue too.
Happy T-day! Eileen xx
Happy T-day! Eileen xx
I have never bought anything there and never will, but it's fun to look at!
DeleteWe had a heat wave here in the US this weekend that I think extended into Canada. We've cooled off for a day, but I think the heat returns later this week. I like your tag. The coffees and food you get at the bakeries always looks good. I like those mugs with matching coasters. The shop windows look great. I like the old guard's room. You've got a good eye to keep spotting 42 while you're out. I like the mural on the wall in the photo before the girl statue, which I also like. That column is strange looking. The last photo, looking up, made me a little dizzy. Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteYes, unfortunately the temperature is indeed getting too hot.
ReplyDeleteWe have warnings for extreme heat in many parts of the UK.
Loved all of your photographs, an amazing collection here today.
Keep as cool as you can :)
All the best Jan
Those mandala shapes reminded me of neon signs until I scrolled down, what brightly coloured dream catchers, fab way of using your photo. The bronze lady is a fab statue, I love her in my garden.. I love to roll aged fruit under my lavender bushes and see where the birds roll them off too.
ReplyDeleteMy Daughter is off to Dusseldorf tomorrow for a few days to meet up with friends, she's already laid claim to my sun screen :/
The over night storms have bashed everything here but the heat is so high even this early. You take good care Valerie & i'll catch up with you in the week.
Hugs Tracey xx
I love how you described that street! Made me laugh! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThe tag you made, with you in it, is very cool! I love it!
I love vegetable quiche!
Thanks for all the beautiful pictures! Big Hugs!
Another fabulous tag, the colours are wonderful. Some great photos again.
